Chapter 115 - [Bonus ] Where's Adelia?
Chapter 115 – [Bonus ] Where’s Adelia?
Until the end, Adelia didn't show the slightest regret. Even when Emily dragged her away, she still cast me a glare for the last time. But I didn't want to use my energy on her anymore. Instead, I helped Sasha, whose head was bleeding.
Shortly after, Maricel came back with a kit in her hand and the physician. The doctor insisted on taking care of the wound in my hand, but I refused. Between Sasha and I, she needed immediate medical attention. So, under my orders, the physician took care of Sasha first in a different room.
Since that jewelry box directly hit her, the wound was huge. No wonder she was bleeding so much. Although werewolves could naturally regenerate and heal their wounds on their own, the speed still varied depending on what type of werewolf they were. In other words, for an Omega like Sasha, help from a physician was more efficient to speed up her healing.
"My lady." Sasha looked at me after her head was bandaged. I told her to keep lying down while I sat on the chair beside the bed.
"Just rest, Sasha. You heard the doctor's advice, right?" I sighed, seeing the worry in her eyes.
"Your Grace, we should put some ointment on your wound as well. It won't be good if it leaves a scar." The physician, an old man, smiled at me wearily. He pointed at the slash across the back of my swollen hand. Only when I gazed at it did I realize the stinging pain.
"Please hand over the ointment to Maricel. Just focus on Sasha. Thank you."
"Goodness. Did she actually lose it? How can she throw that jewelry box at her grace?" Maricel grumbled as she stood right next to my chair, sighing while darting her eyes from Sasha to me. "If Sasha isn't there, just… what will happen if it's just the two of you? No matter where I look at it, she intended to throw it at her grace's head!"
"Maricel." I gazed at her and let out a shallow breath. She frowned, pressing her lips tightly.
"I'm certain her grace is tired after that incident. It is best if Her Grace rests as well. Don't make her remember that awful memory." The physician cast Maricel a look while I smiled at him. He then continued to rummage through his suitcase, which was on the other chair across the bed.
"I know you were scared, Maricel. But let's not talk about it anymore." My smile remained as I shifted my attention to Maricel. When she nodded reluctantly, I sighed and set my eyes back to Sasha on the bed. "You too, Sasha. Focus on your recovery. Maricel will take care of me while you are recuperating. So, don't worry. Right? Maricel?"
This time, Maricel smiled subtly as she nodded. "Yes. Don't worry about Her Grace! I am not as efficient as Sasha, but I will do my best!" she held both her fists up, the flames of determination burning in her eyes.
Sasha and I looked at each other and chuckled. After a second, the physician finally found the ointment for my minor wound. But just as he was giving his instruction to Maricel while I listened, I flinched when the door opened with a bang. We instinctively turned our eyes to the door.
There, Hugo's eyes scanned the room. As soon as our eyes met, he stormed in my direction. With the intimidating air around him, I felt like backing away. But it was already too late to avoid him as he grabbed my wrist, eyes on the wound across the back of my hand.
"Hugh…"
"Where's Adelia?" my breath hitched as soon as his hair-raising tone caressed my ears. Hugo raised his eyes to me, revealing his naturally golden eyes fading into the color of blood. Seeing how scary he was while angry, my mouth simply opened and closed.
He reeked of bloodlust, and his aura was enough to suffocate anyone to death.
"Ivo, take Adelia to me… No. Summon Bal and his entire family, and everyone. It seems I haven't made myself clear." His eyes glinted while talking to Ivo, who followed behind him. To my surprise, Ivo didn't try to talk Hugo out of his order.
"Yes, Your Grace."
Seeing that Ivo left the room to execute the order, I held onto Hugo's sleeve. "Hugh."
"Rinnie." Hugo's voice deepened, but I still held his gaze and shook my head.
"Please don't make a hasty decision, Hugh. Bal is an important vassal and had been loyal to you. I'm not saying this incident isn't a big deal, but decide once you calmed down." I held his hand and smiled wearily, knowing he was barely keeping himself from exploding at this moment. "I am alright — thanks to Sasha. I am fine, Hugh."
I cupped his lean cheek gently. I already forgave Adelia, or rather, I didn't want to hold on to a certain feeling to a particular person who didn't matter to me. But regardless of the gravity of Adelia's offense, we couldn't overlook Balthazar and his family's contribution to the duchy.
Hugo finally let out a sigh, peeling his eyes away from me to the physician. "Take the medicine and ointments in our room. My wife will have to rest."
"Yes, your Grace." Both Maricel and the physician lowered their head. Unlike how relaxed and outspoken Maricel was to me, it was clear she was scared to even breathe loudly around Hugo.
With that being said, Hugo carried me back to our room. Even when I insisted that I could walk, he didn't listen and left the room without a word. Looking up at him on our way to our room, his expression told me he would lose it if I said one wrong word.
This was one of those rare moments he would stay silent for a long time. The type of silence that I sort of dislike, knowing he wasn't alright.
"Although I was scared, I stood up to Adelia," I whispered, resting the side of my head on his chest. "Please be wise, Hugh.. The wound didn't hurt me, but it will hurt if you hurt yourself while protecting me."
