True Alpha’s Chosen Mate

Chapter 180 - Destiny Fate

Chapter 180 – Destiny Fate

Edge tried to stop Hugo from taking me away, but how could Edge disobey his alpha? Just one glare from Hugo and werewolves would back down. Edge was no different. So, in the end, Hugo dragged me away from my tent.

I didn't fight him as I went along to wherever he would take me. But instead of riding a carriage, we rode a steed to a private residence around the center of Clayburn. When we arrived, there weren't people around.

I didn't also get a chance to wonder why there were no other people in this mansion aside from Hugo and me. Hugo just never gave me a chance for sightseeing as he dragged me aggressively with him. He kicked the door open, dragging me inside a room until he tossed me on the bed.

"You…" I ground my teeth, propping my elbows against the mattress with my eyes on his figure. Hugo was taking off his coat and loosening his cravat to breathe.

"Me?" He scorned, running his hand through his hair. "What about me, Rinnie? Didn't you agree to stay for the night and leave once the sun rises? Why don't you strip now to save me the trouble?"

I clutched the sheet as I clenched my teeth. "You… you've become heartless." I blurted out and regretted it a second later when he paused.

"Can you blame me?" Hugo laughed before he pounced on me, pinning my wrist against the mattress while positioning his knee in between my thighs. "Can you blame me for being heartless when you fucking ripped my heart out?!"

I flinched when he raised his voice right in front of me. He was seething, eyes hovering over me, with his canines growing longer.

"Three years is a long time, Rinnie. You left without a word and I've been a mess since then. Just how much more pain will you put me into?" his grip trembled as the veins in his temple protruded. "If you left, you should've gone to a place where I will never see you. Why? Because I already thought of many ways to hurt you until you beg for your death if I ever see you again."

"That is your fault," he continued coldly, snickering when I pressed my lips into a thin line. "It's your fault for being found out. It's your fault that we're like this. It's all your fault, Rinnie, so take responsibility."

My heart sank as I bit my tongue, feeling a tension build up in my throat. When Hugo slowly bent his face down, I looked away, closed-lipped. I felt him pause but pretended not to notice. It would just be so easy to make out and forget about the pain for a moment.

However, I still have my conscience. The second I accepted him, even for just a moment, it would break the two of us even more.

"Why?" he inquired under his breath. Unlike his tone earlier, his voice sounded unfamiliar to my silent refusal. "Why… don't you want me anymore, Rinnie? Did Edge treat you better than I did? Did you truly forget… us?"

His every question sliced through my heart, but I kept my expression in check. "Edge has nothing to do with all this. We didn't have that kind of relationship."

"Then why?"

"Why?" I scoffed, giving him a quick look. "Because… I also changed, Hugo. I am not that foolish Rinnie, who blindly believes that love can conquer all. You wished to die than accept your mate… that is just selfish, Hugh. And you know I will never let that happen."

There was a moment of silence between us as I looked back at him. A pang of guilt struck my heart as soon as I saw the emptiness in his eyes. Hugo squeezed my wrist lightly before loosening it, pushing himself off of me to sit down on the edge of the mattress.

I winced, massaging my wrist as I sat upright. He kept dragging me aggressively earlier and pinned me down. Hence, it left a red mark. I thought he even sprained my wrist.

I looked at Hugo's back, averting my eyes quickly while massaging my wrist. "If you've calmed down now, I'll leave. Bowie and my people will be worried." I checked him again and dragged myself out of the bed when he wasn't responding or moving a muscle.

"If I kill myself now, what will you do?" Just when I marched towards the door, I halted when he spoke. "You seem to value my life even more and don't care if it's a life of misery. For as long as I'm alive, right?"

I looked back with furrowed brows, watching him raise his head and set his eyes on me. "What are you…?"

"I'm wondering… if I killed myself, would that hurt you more?" His eyes glinted dangerously, making me ball my hand into a tight first.

"Hugo, stop this now." I cautioned, my eyes darkening. "I am not the person you need. Let's stop now."

I huffed with a heavy heart, scoffing as I shook my head. I pivoted on my heel, dragging my feet towards the door to leave. But alas…

"Rinnie," he called with his warm baritone voice and placed his palm against the door to stop me from leaving.

I steeled my heart as I took a deep breath. "You are a werewolf and your destined mate for life will be chosen by fate," I whispered as I turned around to face him. "It was said that once you find your true mate, it was by instinct, by the maddening desires, by nature, telling you that was the mate you will love passionately for life."

"I am not that mate, Hugo," I stressed my claim adamantly. "Rejecting your mate also means rejecting your destiny."

SLAM!

His pair of crimson eyes glowed menacingly as he slammed his palm against the door. I fought the fear that instantly crept into my heart.

"Destiny? Fate?" My back fused against the door as he bent over until his face was a palm length away from mine. "And who is this Destiny Fate to decide for me?"

"Hugo—"

"I decide for myself, Rinnie." He seethed as his canines let themselves known. "If I say you are my one true mate, then you are my one true mate. If this world disagrees, then let it be damned."

"If this Destiny Fate shows his face to me, I will fucking rip his jaw apart so it won't dictate what I should do and who I should be with," he added through his gritted teeth. "You… Rinnie Tempest. You are still foolish to think I will ever let you out of my line of sight again."

The corner of his lips stretched into an evil smirk as if the devil was staring into my eyes himself. "You're stuck with me and I'm not sorry about it." He dawdled before he laughed, pushing himself away.

As Hugo walked away nonchalantly, I ground my teeth and opened the door. It didn't budge. I tried once again, but it only rattled, making me panic.

"That won't open." I turned my head to Hugo, pouring himself a glass of wine near the table inside the room. He cocked his head in my direction, smirking confidently.

"I meant it when I said you're stuck with me, literally." He raised the glass and tilted his head lightly.. "Cheers to that."
