True Alpha’s Chosen Mate

Chapter 203 - Miss Me

Chapter 203 – Miss Me

"Stand in my way and I will flay you from head to toe."

Blood slipped out of my mouth as I received a blow on my abdomen. I flew back through the forest lane, eyes on the figure that was shrinking the further I go. I scoffed, catching up to my breathing.

Niall didn't hold back. Despite that, the pain was bearable. I knew he would attack me, but I let him for a good reason. I needed physical contact with him to estimate his strength. It was reckless, but there was no other way.

As I flew away, I immediately recovered from the pain. I used this time and the force pushing me back to recollect my thoughts. Niall was incredibly strong. Although he didn't hold back, I knew he didn't use all his strength.

'He simply let me take a glimpse,' I murmured in my head, taking a deep breath as my eyes narrowed. 'He is eerily strong… stronger than before.'

At this point, there were certain things I couldn't deny. One of them was Niall's existence and capabilities. Even without having full control of his darkness, he was already strong as he was. If he and Daniel fought, the outcome would be uncertain.

The lamb could fight him, but even if I stood victorious, I knew it wasn't a victory to celebrate about. The casualties would be dire and lives would be lost.

"He hates them more than the wolves?" I whispered, eyes fixed on where I flew from without regard if my back would crash against something. I could stop and bolt to Niall, but I needed to think first.

"Because he… is born to survive through the blood of others?"

The space between my brows wrinkled the more I thought about his last remarks. I narrowed my eyes, analyzing his words and the contempt in his eyes.

From the beginning, Niall had claimed to do things for fun. But after a brief interaction with him, I knew his reasoning was deeper than what it seemed.

"What the!"

My thoughts were cut off when I heard Hugo's familiar voice. Before I knew it, a hand grabbed my wrist, slowing down my speed. Hugo's feet screech, ambling up the dust as he tried to stop me from flying back.

"Hugh," I mouthed as I set my eyes on his incomprehensible countenance, gazing back at me with his nose scrunched up. "Throw me back there."

I moved my mouth slowly so he could read my lips. He clenched his teeth, clicking his tongue in irritation.

"This marriage…" he took a large step to stop me only to keep his momentum. "… is not normal anymore!"

Using his strength, Hugo threw me like a boomerang exactly in the direction I came from. I could not help but chuckle upon hearing his complaint. Now, instead of flying with my back first, I was flying with my face first. I looked back at him, only to see him wave with a few vampires not far away from his standpoint.

"Don't come flying back in here again!" he hollered with his hands on either side of his lips. "Or I will go there myself!"

"Gosh…" I whispered, peeling my eyes from him to look ahead. "… you're right, Hugh. This marriage has just taken a turn of no return."

A subtle smile appeared on my lips before my eyes glinted. I couldn't let Niall go away just like that. I needed to talk to him. Although I told him I wasn't interested in his intentions, now I was.

Vampires were born to survive through other creatures' blood. I needed to clarify one thing from that man.

"Niall!" I shouted my lungs out until it shook, seeing him still standing on the same spot he stood previously.

Niall smiled brightly, opening his arms wide open as if we were in a romantic setting. I ground my teeth in irritation, stretching my right hand until my nails looked like claws.

"Stop…" I whispered, reaching for a tree to slow down my speed, causing me to slide on the ground towards him. "… playing mind games with me!"

I dug my claws into the ground, my feet sliding first until I reached his outstretch and deformed shadow. Keeping my momentum, I grabbed a handful of sand, which I tossed up to blind him. At the same time, I sprung up to my feet, only to kick his chest and fell down on him.

THUD!

"Haha! So cute." he laughed, one eye closed while I landed on top of him. I squatted down on his chest, both feet on his wrist, claws at his throat. My tails pinning his waist and ankles on the ground.

As the dust grew thin around us, I gazed down at him with cold eyes. His aggravating smirk persisted, staring back at me with amusement.

"That… caught me off guard, not going to lie," he mused, tilting his head to the side. "Now that I look at you up close, you don't look bad in this position, Princess."

I ignored the sensual look in his eyes as I pressed my claws against his throat. "Shall I end you?" I asked.

"Well, sure…" he laughed, unfazed by the blood oozing from his throat. "But what about a night with me first? You know… vampires are quite weak when it comes to pleasure. I wouldn't mind dying after having…" he trailed off as his eyes lowered to my chest.

"… that."

"Eyes up." I pointed a sharp finger at the bottom of his chin to keep his eyes up at me. But before I could speak, he licked his fangs and spoke.

"You know, Lamb. I actually liked you back then." He smirked charmingly, acting entirely different from before he sent me flying. "But… why have you never looked in my direction? Why… have you always favored the wolf and not me?"

"Was it out of pity? But isn't I pitiful myself? I didn't ask to be born this way," he continued with genuine wonder in his voice. "Even when he betrayed you, why had you always chosen him? He kills for fun, but I slaughter to survive. Why?"

My breath hitched as the contempt in his eyes swallowed the amusement filling it. His smile faded, replaced by nothing but emptiness.

"The lamb had always been biased… be it then or now." A glint flickered across his eyes and in that second, I felt my heart thump against my chest. My eyes dilated as I looked up, the dark veil thinning until it disappeared.

"He swallowed it." I froze upon hearing his remarks, gazing down at him to see his playful smirk. "Lamb, did you know? The wolf split himself in two so he would always have a friend? I wonder… if Daniel was simply a part of him, where is the other half…?"

Taking advantage of the situation, Niall took me off guard as he flipped our position. Before I knew it, he was on top of me while he pinned my wrist over my head. The only thing I could do was point my tail around his neck.

His eyes glowed as his fangs grew. He bent over until his face was a palm length away from mine.

"Don't worry, Lamb. I will come to you if he planned to devour you once again." He smirked and leaned his face closer just to click his tongue. "Until then… miss me."

As soon as those words slipped out of his mouth, a dark shadow covered my eyes as his weight disappeared from me.. When I regained my vision, Niall was gone.
