Chapter 216 - Deimos Albion Tempest
Chapter 216 – Deimos Albion Tempest
Toby and I joined the rest, standing on the side of the training grounds. We stood on Cora's side. I smiled at her when she cast me a side-eye. Her arms crossed.
"You're here?" she smiled back before her eyes fell on Toby beside me. "My very cute nephew! Come to Auntie. I will shower you with love~"
Carefree and sweet as she was, Cora squatted down and sprawled her hands to Toby. The latter flashed a big smile as he let my hand go, jumping towards Cora. It was amazing how strong Cora was as she carried Toby in her arms as if he weighed nothing.
"I missed you!" she pouted, straightening her back, eyes on Toby.
"Auntie, I was praying that you and Uncle Tito will be safe."
"Aww… my sweet child. You make me cry!" she dramatically exclaimed, rubbing her cheek against Toby's chubby one. "So squishy. Why don't you just be my child, hmm? Your Papa is the worse of the worst. Do you know what he made me do during our last expedition?"
"Auntie, I don't know, but I knew Papa made you do it because Auntie is reliable."
"My heart… so cute and so innocent. Rinnie, can I have him?" Cora kept rubbing cheeks with Toby, showing how fond she was to him. "Hugo just knows how to bully you. I will never do that."
A subtle smile appeared on my face, peeling my eyes away from the two to those two fighting on the training ground.
"I'm sorry, Cora. I left Toby once, and I will never do that again."
"Aww…"
"Auntie Beauty, why does my Mama call you Cora?" my brows furrowed as I cast them a side-eye upon Toby's question. "Is that your second name?"
"Yes, it's my second name. But I prefer if my baby calls me Beauty, since that suits me the best."
I chuckled as I listened to their conversation. Cora, unlike the rest standing in this place, still had the energy to get chummy with Toby. It was a bit surprising, knowing Cora's strong personality for her to be so fond of children.
I let them be, for now, eyes on the two on the training grounds. Every blow Hugo and Daniel threw would produce a strong gust of wind. It was intimidating, making my heart pound each time.
Last night, Daniel was on the brink of death. One could say he was about to kick the bucket.
But now…
I narrowed my eyes, catching the mask resting on the side of his head. He wore it the way he used to wear it in the past.
'He recovered overnight,' I thought, mentally nodding my head. 'Although… I didn't expect him to spar with Hugo as soon as he regain his strength.'
From my vantage point, I knew they were fighting with half of their strength. They weren't fighting to kill each other, but just… to break each other's bones a bit.
"Is it your doing?" I snapped my eyes, gazing to my left when someone stood on my side.
Silas. The third prince and Daniel's shield.
He cast me a side-eye, arms crossed. "I mean, Daniel."
I shrugged as a response, setting my eyes back to Hugo and Daniel. About Daniel's condition, only a few knew about the real problem. Or rather, they knew it was about his mate, but they didn't know who was his mate.
Only important individuals who were heavily involved with Daniel knew who it was. Hugo — Daniel's sword — was one, and then Silas, Daniel's shield.
The emperor also knew about it, but Hugo reassured me his father didn't have much say in it. It was almost amazing how the emperor hadn't forced me to be with his heir. But that was probably because he respected Daniel's decision.
Deimos Albion was a great man and father to his children. A man who deserved the title of the emperor.
"How His Highness, the crown prince, is better now is because of his own efforts." I broke my silence, speaking under my breath. Good thing Cora was distracted with Toby. "I simply spoke a few words."
I felt his stony gaze on my side. "Is that so?" came out a cold voice, peeling his eyes away from me.
I never had an actual conversation with Silas. Even though I was close with his sisters, and I had spent tea times with his wife, Silas and I weren't that close.
Well, it was the same with Hugo's other brothers. Not that they treated me with hostility. It was just that there was no need for a deeper conversation aside from greetings.
"I never said this before, sister. However, there were things that happened during your absence, I do not want to witness once again," he spoke in a low and solemn tone once again. "You have no idea how my brothers suffered because of you. If they ended up suffering like that again… I will come after you."
This time, I glanced at him. "I will appreciate that." My expression was sharp and aloof, setting my eyes back to where Hugo and Daniel stood. "Don't worry, Your Highness. I always stand by the wolf. But it's always good to have someone watching my movements… for I sometimes forget about the drawn lines."
"I'm not the only one who is watching your movements," he whispered, and just as he did, I shut one of my eyes at the sudden impact not far away. "There is someone else who will come after you, other than me."
BOOM!
The dust fogging around Hugo and Daniel suddenly thickened. The ground shook, almost making me lose my balance. Gasped from the knights resonated, but slowly faded in the air, along with the subsiding dust.
Three figures slowly came into sight. Two on the ground, one in the middle. When the surrounding cleared up, my eyes glinted.
There, Deimos Albion Tempest, the emperor, with his hands planted on the back of Hugo and Daniel's head, keeping them on the ground in just one blow.
"Ugh… what the…!" Hugo grumbled in pain, glaring at his father, who was pinning his head on the ground.
Daniel also grunted with blood on his temple. "Father?"
"You pathetic brats… you'll still need hundreds of years to dodge me," the Emperor snickered, raising his head in our direction. The side of his lips stretched as he stared directly at me.
"He will also come for you," Silas spoke on my side.
'I see.' I mentally nodded my head, watching Deimos stand up and crooked a finger at me. 'So he wants to test our strength and give me a warning?'
I smiled as I marched inside his vicinity, accepting his invitation for a spar.
Things might've remained the same, but there were things that had changed as well.. Those who knew were aware of whom they have to watch out for.
