Chapter 218 - The Real Face Of The Lamb
Chapter 218 – The Real Face Of The Lamb
BAM!
Just as I flung my arms to claw his head off, Deimos sprawled his brawny arms around my arm. He grabbed it, tossing me away with so much force. However, that wasn't enough to stop me.
As soon as my feet landed on the ground, knees bending, I used the momentum to bolt towards him. We didn't have any weapons aside from our claws, pure strength, and agility. With a big man such as Deimos, it was amazing how he could keep up with my current speed.
He stood in the same spot, dodging most of my attacks. Sometimes, he would block them or deflect them by slapping them with the back of his hand. He was amazing even without doing so much.
"My child, what are you trying to see?"
Suddenly, instead of blocking the claws coming at his throat, he stood still. Before I knew it, his fingers slipped in between them, holding it to the side. I looked up and held my breath, stopping right in front of him with my hand under his grip.
His golden eyes glinted as they lowered, keeping his chin up. "I didn't come for such lame attacks, child. I think that is enough warm-up." He asserted sternly. "Attack me as if you want to kill me. Think of me as the wolf… who devoured you while you are alive."
My eyes glowered, but before I could pick up momentum, he pulled my hand down and his knee landed on my abdomen. For a second, I couldn't breathe.
He was strong, no doubt. And to think he hadn't used all his strength…
The side of my lips slowly stretched like a maniac, teeth showing the blood that came out of my mouth. His eyes glinted when I gazed up, shielding himself with an intimidating air as soon as I locked eyes with him.
Compared to the blow I inflicted from Niall, this… the emperor's strength was out of this world. No wonder his children do all the jobs. Half of it was because it was their duty, but I now understood the other reason.
No one… in this empire, would want this man to stand up from his throne. How amazing, indeed."
He tried to let go of my hands, but this time, I gripped it tightly. Fighting him in this close proximity will force him to show his actual strength. He had to show me… or else I wouldn't know if he was prepared to fight the lamb once I've gone feral.
"Father," came out a wicked voice, giggling like a real psychopath. "You're right. That's enough warm-up for the both of us."
BAM!
This time, I mimicked his move. I pulled his hand down as if he weighed nothing, lifting up my foot as my knee landed on his abdomen. His muscles were as hard as steel, which almost broke my knees.
"Ah… a hardened muscle from years of training and bones." I nodded and hit his abdomen with my knee once again. This time, a bright smile dominated my face as he spewed a bit of blood. But before I could rejoice, he reached for my ankle and barely pulled it with him.
Thanks to my fast reflexes, I dodged it. However, his actions forced me to let go of his hands.
I looked at Deimos in awe, blinking with admiration, filling my eyes. He was not only strong, but he had a very good instinct in reading the situation. Not only that, but he actually forced me to let him go, and in such a short time at that.
Amazing…
"This is the face behind the mask." I snapped my eyes when he spoke, wiping the blood on the corner of his lips with the back of his hands. "I see you now. Why the lamb never wants to show her face… you are wicked, my child."
There was a pang of pain that filled his eyes while staring at me, making me tilt my head. Deimos cast me an apologetic look, letting out a deep exhale.
"Do not be afraid," he reassured. "No one is looking, child. And I do not judge the person I am currently looking at."
I gazed down, seeing that my palms had thin hooves over my prints. My claws bore the colors of dry blood. My arms were covered with white, almost yellowish fur, with no human skin in sight. I ran my fingers through my hair; it was thick, and I knew it wasn't just my hair.
My entire body… the three tails behind me. I had shifted out of excitement. How could I lose myself in my riled emotions? I gazed back at the emperor, Deimos, and smiled wearily. He didn't look at me with disgust, which made me feel so comfortable standing before him.
Thanks to our powerful exchange of blows, the dust surrounding us was thick enough for the people outside not to see.
My eyes softened as I tilted my head to the side. "Thank you for letting me know, Father," I expressed in a soft voice. "Five minutes." His brows furrowed at my last remarks.
"Five minutes. I will disappear for five minutes. If you were able to bring me back, the werewolves would be safe. But if you cannot… expect the worse. That only means no one will ever stop me from my plans and you need to step down."
******
"… you need to step down."
Deimos, the Emperor, furrowed his brows. As soon as Rinnie uttered those words, she hung her head low as if she suddenly shut off. He narrowed his eyes before they dilated after several seconds, watching her raise her head ever so slowly.
Danger.
When Rinnie raised her head, Deimos held his breath as his eyes slowly turned red. His canine grew as he let out low snarls at the monster looking back at him.
Earlier, the look in Rinnie's eyes changed whilst fighting him. But now, her sclera turned black, with dark cracks stretching from the side of her eyes to her temples. Her pupils shimmered with deep red. Pressing her lips with her brows up, containing her excitement.
"This is not… Rinnie," he whispered, stretching his neck from one side to the other while he slowly shifted. "This person… will never be defeated in human form."
"Wol!" Rinnie exclaimed happily and faster in a blink of an eye, she disappeared from her standpoint. But where she was heading was not towards Deimos, but outside the thick dust surrounding them.
HOWL
The emperor, in his half-human, half-wolf form, also picked up his pace. Without a second hesitation, he bit her shoulder, canines sinking deep into her bones, tossing her back mercilessly.
"My child… I am old enough to do this." He scratched his head, his voice a mix of human and deep growl. "But I understood your dilemma."
Deimos had always known the lamb was powerful. However, he was never certain how powerful she was. But now that he had seen it, he understood he needed to make sure no one else would see Rinnie.
Not because Rinnie would kill them in this state. But because this state… was akin to standing before the creator of the world.. It might be an exaggeration, but Deimos was certain if he wasn't strong enough, he'd lose his breath.
