Chapter 72 - Say Goodbye To Sleep
Chapter 72 – Say Goodbye To Sleep
"… you don't even have the slightest idea, Rinnie."
Rinnie frowned as his breathing was heavy, and his hand was trembling slightly. She might be intoxicated, but her heart understood he was in a difficult position.
"I'm not stupid, Hugh," came out a weak voice as her eyes lowered, cheeks painted in red with all the short and long kisses. "I like Hugo's kisses that sometimes I don't want to stop. Every time you wrap your arms around me, I always feel secure and protected… to the point I sometimes wish you don't let me go. I always want to be close to you, but I always feel there is this thin, invisible barrier between us."
She slowly lifted her head and looked at him straight in the eye. "I didn't put up that barrier, Hugo. You did."
"You…" Hugo breathed out, staring at her flustered face with eyes clearer than a spring found deep in the forest. Alcohol wouldn't just make one pass out, but also, could make one spill the words they wouldn't utter when sober.
He never thought Rinnie would notice, as she would always smile and stay kind to the point she appeared like a fool. She kept her image that way that he forgot she was an observer. She was the type of person who would notice the slightest things and point them out depending if she deem it necessary or not.
So, the invisible barrier she was talking about… was true. Hugo had always put this thin, pinch-sized wall for her to not notice between them to protect her from him. But she still noticed.
"Should I break it?" he asked under his breath, brushing her cheek with his thumb. "Do you know what will happen once I did?"
"Mhm… we make pups?"
A low chuckle slipped past his lips while shaking his head. "That's right. I will not hold back."
"That's fine." Rinnie averted her eyes, pressing her lips into a thin line. "I decide for myself and that includes who will kiss me, touch me, and embrace me."
"Come on now. Aren't you being too honest?" Hugo guided her chin for her to look at him again. "I should thank Alice for making you drink the honesty drink."
The side of his lips hooked up into a smirk, bending over to claim her lips once again. It was a brief kiss, but this time, he only drew his lips an inch away, with eyes glinting while staring at her.
"Brace yourself, Rinnie," he warned in a deep tone. "I don't plan on letting you go tonight."
He heard her one big gulp, which made him chuckle, but he still leaned forward for a passionate kiss. She instinctively planted her fist on his firm chest, shutting her eyes closed as her lips followed his lead. Slowly, Hugo snaked his arm around her waist, lifting her up as he walked towards the bed.
"Ugh…!"
Suddenly, when they were at arm's length from the bed, Alice grunted that made the two pause. She groggily pushed herself to sit up, eyes partially closed.
"I'm so thirsty…" she trailed off when she noticed Hugo and Rinnie's figure inside the room. Her brows furrowed, studying their position.
Her eyes fell on Rinnie's back and the arm that was around her waist. Her gaze panned up to see Hugo's face over Rinnie's shoulder. He was looking at her with an arched brow and a devious smirk.
Alice blinked twice before realization sobered her up. "You!!"
"God, Alice. Why are you even in here?" Hugo clicked his tongue, pulling Rinnie's body closer to him.
"Hey, this is my room and what are you planning to do with my baby sister on the bed you are trying to approach?!"
"Shit… right. This is her room." He clicked his tongue and glared at Alice as if it was her fault to be in her room. If Rinnie didn't say all the things she said, Hugo would surely fight with his sister for making her drink liquor. But well, he was in a pretty good mood to even argue for an entire year.
He gazed down at Rinnie, who was burying her face on his shoulder out of embarrassment, and he chuckled. How cute, he thought. If only she knew Alice was even shameless than Cora whenever she would show her affection to her husband, Rinnie would know being caught while kissing was not something to be worried about.
"Have a good night, sister." Hugo just cast Alice a look before he swiftly lifted Rinnie into his arms. "I'll be taking her to a safe place where none of you can touch her."
"Hey! Hugo!" Alice harrumphed, but he didn't stop as he walked out of the door with Rinnie in his arms. "Rinnie! My dearest baby sister…!"
She dramatically reached her hand out towards the door, but it closed behind them. Rinnie had her face buried on his shoulder, so Alice couldn't even tell what expression was written on her face.
"Tsk! My poor baby sister…" Alice frowned as she sniffed, making her nose scrunch up and she waved. "The scent he left hurts my nose…. poor Rinnie. Will she have to deal with his pent-up heat?"

Meanwhile, Hugo chuckled as he glanced at Rinnie. She was clasping his chest and looking down to hide her flustered face.
"Alice should've stayed quiet, right?" he teased, making her look up.
"Hugo, that is embarrassing." She pouted, but he lowered his head while lifting his arms to brush his nose against her.
"It's not. What's so embarrassing about that? I can kiss you as I walk back to my room if you like and no one will say a word about it… unless they don't need a tongue anymore." He raised a brow and shrugged, sporting an arrogant look.
Rinnie let out a shallow breath as she leaned the side of her head against his chest. "Don't joke like that, Hugo. You shouldn't always resort to violence. It's scary."
"Yes, ma'am."
"I'm being serious, though."
"I am too." Hugo cocked his head to her. "You should sleep, my Rinnie. Because if you don't, I will not let you sleep once we reach my room."
Rinnie frowned and just snuck a look at him. "I want to sleep, but I just can't… for some reason."
"Then, I guess you will not have a wink of sleep tonight." The side of his lips stretched into a smug smile.. "Say goodbye to sleep."
