Chapter 87 - Wake Up
Chapter 87 – Wake Up
Hugo gazed down at Rinnie, lying on his side with his knuckles propping his temple. Her back was facing him, making him frown as he stared at her back.
'Is it alright to kiss her until she wakes up?' he wondered, looking back to get a glimpse of the break of dawn through the window. After he bathe himself, he went directly to her room. Good thing he requested that her chambers should be close to him since his sisters would be very busy.
"Rinrin, wake up." He poked her shoulder lightly, frowning even more because she was still fast asleep. He actually felt bad for trying to wake her up, but he couldn't help it. Lying beside her was triggering all creative ideas he had in his head, distracting him from the thoughts regarding his encounter with Azazel.
"Azazel," he whispered, letting out a deep exhale as he drew back a bit to think. 'I don't think he is someone who will lie about something like that.'
Hugo had given a lot of thought to his secret meeting with Azazel. He even considered the personality of the mentioned crown prince of both Hendrik and Ronmin Empire. Based on Azazel, the crown prince of the Hendrik Empire, Niall, was someone who sought the power that no one would withstand.
That was where the werewolves entered. Werewolves could fight vampires, as both existences could threaten each other with the sheer thought of it. Meanwhile, Hugo knew Daniel from inside and out. Even though Daniel was his brother, Hugo couldn't disagree with Azazel.
Daniel was kind and considerate towards his siblings. But when necessary, he was a firm person and could be the cruelest person to others. Not to mention, Daniel had been very wary of the vampires' existence since childhood. Daniel never said it aloud, but Hugo always had this feeling that Daniel would purposely get tangled with the vampires and order for their demise.
In conclusion, it seemed to Hugo that both Niall and Daniel — the two who would lead their people — were similar in a way. Both of them seemed to dislike the other races.
'But what I cannot understand is… what is Rinnie got to do with all that?' Hugo gazed at Rinnie's back, narrowing his eyes. Azazel didn't explain Rinnie's purpose and why those two shouldn't get a hold of her because a problem arose during their meeting. Some vampires ambushed them. Hugo didn't completely trust the words of Azazel, but by the expression of the vampires who ambushed them, they were also surprised to see Azazel.
Whether they were truly Niall's people who were deployed to abduct Rinnie, or it was just Azazel's skit to make Hugo believe him didn't matter to him. What mattered was… he couldn't lock her up. He didn't want to be just like her parents, who kept her hidden in the world just to keep her safe.
"Rinrin, wake up." Hugo leaned closer to her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I need your wisdom, dear."
He frowned when she didn't wake up, burying his lips on the back of her shoulder. His eyes narrowed, getting triggered by her warmth transferring to him.
"Rinrin…" his voice suddenly deepened as he carefully rubbed his palm against her flat stomach. "… I will have to wake you up using a different method if you don't."
He glanced at her, hearing her deep breath. Hugo then stretched his neck to check her face, but she was deep asleep. There were too many ideas in his head on how to wake her up, but he still considered her words before they summoned him to an emergency council meeting.
"She will not get angry, right?" His brows raised, blinking twice before a smug grin appeared on his lips. "Rinrin… hehe."
Hugo pressed his lips on her shoulder, grazing it across her shoulder to tickle her. He traced the side of her neck with the apex of his nose, humming in a low tone while pulling her closer to him and hugging her from the back.
As he cradled her with his embrace, Hugo squeezed her shoulder lightly.
'Now that I think about it, she is so thin she'd get blown away if I growl once.' His frown worsen as she was akin to a rabbit, small and white, someone who needed protection in the wild. 'She who knows the power to destroy both empires, huh?'
His enthusiasm to kiss her until she would wake up gradually disappeared as he rested his forehead against the back of her head. He sniffed her scent, keeping her in his embrace while gazing at her with lazy eyes.
"I can't decide, Rinrin. I need your help," he muttered, tightening his grip around his waist until her buttocks touched the forbidden. Just one touch and something in his lower region awoken from its slumber.
"Rinrin… I think I am going crazy," came out a muffled voice as he closed his eyes, staying still since he was frozen in place. "I'm still frustrated about yesterday."
To him, if they did not summon him, he would've taken her to his office. But it seemed he was cursed to stay as a virgin for life. Life was so unfair to him, he thought, getting grumpier the more he thought about it. Rinnie, not waking up from his weak attempts, also added to his stress.
'She looks so beautiful while she was staring at me while lying on that table.' A deep sigh slipped past him as he wanted to see her in that position again. With her clothes falling off her shoulder, revealing her fair skin that was akin to a milk, eyes a bit teary but had clarity, and face painted with red.
Getting frustrated and selfish by the minute, Hugo opened his mouth and bit her shoulder lightly. He needed to know if she was just as frustrated as him. This time, Rinnie moaned as she instinctively touched her shoulder. With one eye partially opened, she looked back only to see Hugo smile at her.
"Morning, dear," he greeted with a devious smile, but Rinnie just hummed and rolled to face him. She said nothing as she wrapped her arms around him, going back to sleep.
"Rinrin, don't go back to sleep." He frowned while casually stroking her back. "Well, I guess it's just me and my feelings."
He gave up even after successfully waking her up once. Hugo rested the side of his head with his eyes on her. If not for the fact that she was smiling while embracing him like a pillow, he would be a bit upset. But she seemed to be in a good mood even while asleep.
"Goodnight, Rinrin." Hugo closed his eyes as he tried to fall asleep. But just a minute later, he opened his eyes slowly when Rinnie spoke.
"Welcome back, Hugh," came out a weak voice as she opened her soft eyes lightly, clutching his back as she buried her face in his firm chest.
