True Alpha’s Chosen Mate

Chapter 98 - I Needed To Know My Options In The Future

Chapter 98 – I Needed To Know My Options In The Future

"Your Highness, her ladyship only needs rest. This is a normal human reaction after their first intercourse. Since we're werewolves and her ladyship is a human, Your Highness needs to be careful and extra gentle."

Hugo let out a deep breath while gazing at the female doctor from the other side of the bed. He was sitting on the armchair beside the bed, letting the royal physician check Rinnie's condition.

"These pills will help her regain her strength. Just refrain from touching her for the meantime and even after she recovered, give her enough breaks, Your Highness. That is if you truly cared for her ladyship." The female doctor who checked Rinnie gazed at the tyrannical seventh prince. If anyone heard her speak so bluntly at him, they would be surprised how she still had her tongue intact. Hugo got the title of a mad dog for a reason, after all.

He was only lenient to his own people and family. But the rest? He was nothing but a savage beast.

"I see." Hugo rocked his head before setting his eyes back on Rinnie. "You're dismissed. Give the prescription to the servants who are taking care of her. They will know what to do."

"I will come back tomorrow to check her ladyship."

Once the physician bowed, she quietly left the chambers. She looked back at Hugo when she was by the door, sighing in relief before she closed it behind her. As soon as she went out, some of the princesses who rushed in here after hearing the news looked at her in anticipation.

"Is Rinnie fine?" asked Teresa, perking up at the royal physician as soon as she departed Rinnie's room.

"Why is Rinnie sick?" Sally also inquired.

"Did brother Hugo do something?" Priscilla also stood next to Teresa, staring at the physician with eyes full of worry.

The doctor sighed and smiled weakly. "Her Ladyship will be alright with enough rest. She was simply exhausted," she explained, glancing at the rest of the people waiting outside the room. Aside from the three young princesses, some members of the mad wolf pack were also here.

"It's best if you let her ladyship rest to avoid stress as well. As you all know, she is still adjusting to this new environment," she added in a kind tone. She wasn't lying, though. Although Rinnie's fever was a normal reaction of humans after their first intercourse, she also found out that Rinnie was under a lot of stress.

"Is that so…?" Teresa frowned as she took a step back, glancing at her sisters. "We shouldn't have asked Rinnie to shop with us when she just arrived."

"Brother Hugo will surely scold us," Priscilla murmured while Sally just gazed at the door and sighed.

"We should head back and let Brother Hugo take care of Rinnie." Sally pivoted on her heel as she walked back, looking back to her sisters, and cocked her head. "Let's go. You heard the royal physician. We need to leave Rinnie alone for now so she can rest and adjust well."

"Hmm…" Teresa hummed reluctantly before following Sally's small figure. Priscilla also followed them, leaving the royal physician and the few members of the mad wolf pack.

"Our Luna will be alright for sure, right?" asked Ivo to the royal physician just to make sure. When the latter nodded, he heaved a sigh of relief.

"Kieran, assist the royal physician back to her quarters," he ordered with a sigh, and Kieran nodded as he gestured the female doctor the way. As the two walked away, Ivo faced the rest who were with him.

"Cyran and you, Winter, will guard this door. Stop anyone from entering so our Luna will recover sooner. We are going back to Belcoot and Alpha Hugo said the sooner the better. So, don't let anyone hinder her recovery." Like normal warriors, Winter and Cyran nodded, listening to Ivo's orders out of habit. "I'll go inside and bring these documents to Alpha Hugo."

Just as Ivo was about to enter the room, Reks and Tito came into sight. Ivo turned his head in their direction, waiting for those two to report so Ivo could relay it to Hugo.

"Ivo, Alpha Hugo must read these documents. It's the information we gathered as per Alpha Hugo's orders." Reks handed a thin document solemnly. "Those bastards in the north are getting cocky during Alpha Hugo's absence. In the end, we still need to return to Belcoot as soon as possible. They are asking for it."

Ivo accepted the reports Reks and Tito brought and nodded. "Assist these two first. I will ask Alpha Hugo's decision."

After nodding once, Ivo proceeded to enter Rinnie's room without making a sound. His eyes landed on Hugo, sitting on the chair near Rinnie's bed while holding her hand. Hugo's affection for Rinnie was already known to them, so it was no surprise to see Hugo take care of Rinnie. But what was surprising was the bitterness in Hugo's eyes, as if he was carrying all the problems in the world.

Ivo cleared his throat as he stood meters away from the bed. "Alpha Hugo, Reks and Tito returned with the task they carried as per your orders. Apparently, those old dogs hadn't learned their lesson and are joining hands to challenge your authority. They gathered their courage because you've been away for a long time."

He studied Hugo's unchanging countenance. Usually, Hugo would laugh if he heard such ridiculous news. Ivo even expected to feel a bit bad to those old fools in Belcoot for thinking of something so silly. However, Hugo remained silent and kept brushing Rinnie's head.

"Alpha Hugo –"

"We'll set off once Rinnie recovers," Hugo spoke, interrupting whatever Ivo was going to say. "Don't let a single word out of my return to Belcoot. It's better if we can catch them all at once — saves me the trouble of going to them one by one."

"Yes, Alpha Hugo." Ivo gulped as he carefully examined Hugo. Unlike usual, Hugo didn't let out a murderous aura. However, he sounded even more dangerous with that nonchalant tone while uttering of slaughtering those old dogs in the north in one go.

"There are also some issues that need to be addressed. I will leave them in here so you can take a look at them." Ivo carefully tiptoed towards Hugo, placing the documents in his hands on the bedside table. He glanced at him once again and cleared his throat, knowing that he shouldn't stay longer. Hugo wasn't emanating a murderous aura, but an intimidating one. Something only a true alpha could naturally do that could make even a normal alpha keep their head down.

When Ivo was about to leave, he paused when Hugo spoke. He looked back with furrowed brows.

"Alpha?"

"I said… send Edge and Mitch to the Hendrik Empire and leave a message to the fourth prince. Tell that bat to meet me in Belcoot, I need to talk to him." Hugo ordered without looking away from Rinnie. "Also, Ivo, give a secret mission to Reks to investigate Dan."

Ivo frowned upon hearing the last order. It was a strange one since Hugo respected the crown prince. If Hugo had some questions, he could just directly ask the crown prince, since they were that close. Not that Daniel had to keep his movements a secret to Hugo since the latter had devoted his life to being the crown prince's sword.

"Don't misunderstand, Ivo. I am not planning on anything that can threaten Dan's ground on the throne. I just want to know his movements since something is bothering me," Hugo explained in the same tone, staring at Rinnie while stroking her hair lovingly. "Until now, I always think I like Rinrin. But I only realize, I just don't fancy her."

Hugo paused, raising his eyes to Ivo. "I needed to know my options in the future."

"Yes, Alpha Hugo."
