Chapter 248: Instant-Kill Domains
Chapter 248: Instant-Kill Domains
North of Siren City Wall
“This place is interesting.”
A platoon of 100 armored orcs had finished scouting the perimeter around Siren City. They had been observing the protective walls and its concealment array with interest.
Yesterday, several orc platoons had been ambushed by a white-masked cultivator, and a dozen of 5th-stage orc warriors had died by the mysterious cultivator’s hands.
Because of the sudden threat, their warchief had gathered 6th-stage orc warriors to hunt this cultivator. The group had followed the trace of the masked cultivator, and all tracks had led them to this city.
Around the city walls, a thousand weak human cultivators had been camping and cultivating. None of them had paid attention to their arrival as they were in the middle of absorbing the rich Qi in the air.
Surprisingly, the culprit that the orcs had been looking for was among the camping cultivators. The masked old man blended into the crowd, sitting and meditating.
The platoon leader of one hundred orcs smirked as he found this city and its people amusing. He was also delighted to see the wanted man.
“Orcs! Gather up! We’ll kill everybody here including that geezer! We’ll raid the city and avenge for our fallen warriors!”
“KILL!!”
“KILL!!”
The 3-meter-tall armored orcs raised their sabers, axes, halberds, and spears. They roared and activated their element Qi and demonic essence before they flew toward the city.
…
As soon as the orcs started making noise, the cultivators, who had been peacefully cultivating, opened their eyes wide. They turned around to look at the source of the noise.
When they had found that an army of orcs in the sky and realized the strength of these monsters, the human cultivators shouted and warned their friends.
“We’re under attack!”
“Crap! What are they!?”
“D-D-Demons? Are they demons!?”
All 4th-stage cultivators and weaker rushed toward the city gate, slamming their fists on it.
“LET ME IN!! A GROUP OF MONSTERS ARE ATTACKING US!!”
“HELP!! OPEN THE DOOR, PLEASE!!”
“SENIOR!! WHOEVER IS PROTECTING THIS CITY, PLEASE HELP!!”
Although the majority of people flocked around the door, begging to enter the city, smart cultivators climbed the wall, trying to get inside during the chaos.
When they reached the battlements, the barrier array prevented them from going further. They were stranded on top of the wall, unable to go back down or go forward.
Meanwhile, two individuals in white robes blended into the wall-climber group.
Li Jue gazed at the charging orcs with a faint smile. Now that they had accomplished their first objective, the rest depended on the orcs if they could destroy the barrier array for them.
Niu Fu sweated profusely while he gazed at this mentor, “Master, they’re coming for us!”
“I know.”
“Then, what’s next? Are we going to fight them here?”
“I’m sorry. I’m MORTALLY INJURED, so I CAN’T FIGHT.”
“…”
Li Jue purposely stressed some of his words, so the other bystanders wouldn’t force him to fight the troops of 6th-stage orcs.
As Li Jue had guessed, the other cultivators on the wall stared at him, scanning his appearance from head to toes. They doubted that Li Jue was actually injured, and they thought that the masked old man was simply a coward despite being a core pillar realm expert.
Yet, no one dared to refute Li Jue. After all, they didn’t want to provoke this old man and got themselves killed.
Instead of pointing out Li Jue’s lie, they turned toward the city. Then, they shouted and called for help.
Their plea wasn’t unanswered. A minute after the commotion had taken place, two old men flew out of the concealment array. They hovered in the sky, looking at the approaching orcs.
Li Jue stared at them, checking their current cultivation base.
When he realized how strong they were, he was shocked.
“… This is not good.”
…
“It has been a while since you last fought, and your dantian has just been recently healed. Is it alright for you to come out?”
“That’s my line. Have you recovered all your energy yet?”
“Hahaha! I can’t say that my strength has completely returned, but I’m strong enough to handle a hundred core pillar cultivators. Well, those things are a bit stronger than human cultivators, but they are still not in my league.”
“You’re quite confident in your strength.”
“If I don’t, I wouldn’t have survived the last war. By the way, can I have all of them?”
“Are you sure? How about this? I’ll leave these monsters to you. But if you’re tired, you can come back and I’ll take over.”
“Sounds like a plan. Let’s do that.”
Ma Ping and Jia Shan had been checking their conditions as they had been preparing to work out after a night of closed-door training. They hadn’t completely digested everything in their stomach yet, but they had been forced to come out and protect the city.
In the end, Ma Ping volunteered to fight alone as Jia Shan’s dantian had just been recovered. Moreover, the former needed to test his current strength after he had spent a night digesting Cao Mao’s immortal-grade pill.
Ma Ping activated his domain. The invisible dome expanded, covering the radius of one kilometer. His nascent soul, aka the transparent knight on a warhorse, also came out and pointed his lance at the intruders.
In an instant, the flying orcs were in his range.
…
Meanwhile, the clueless orcs continued flying toward the city. Although they changed their targets to the two old men in the sky, their objective hadn’t changed.
“KILL THOSE OLD MEN!!”
“KILL!!”
“KI-KUK!!”
One of the orcs suddenly couldn’t utter a word as his neck had been stabbed by an invisible sharp object.
None of the orcs had seen the attack, and they didn’t even realize that their friend had been killed.
PU
PU
PU
Despite having superior muscle, physical strength, and supreme armor, more orcs fell from the sky as their heads, hearts, or necks had been stabbed.
Within a second, twenty 6th-stage orcs fell.
The orc captain behind his platoon had been observing his men from afar, and he had realized that his men were attacked by an unknown power.
There was only one explanation since the captain couldn’t detect any Qi from the attacker. He shouted in a panic, “ALL TROOPS, TURNABOUT! RETREAT!! THERE’RE NASCENT SOUL CULTIVAT-KEUK!!”
Even the captain received the domain attack from Ma Ping. A giant hole suddenly appeared in his chest as if a giant lance had punctured through his torso.
The captain stared at the two old men in the sky in astonishment and shock. His vision slowly dimmed even though his eyes were wide open. His body dropped from the sky.
Just like that, the nameless orc captain had been slain.
…
In the sky, Ma Ping and Jia Shan were relaxed. As the orcs hadn’t prepared an array or talismans to counter a nascent soul cultivator’s domain power, this fight was under their control.
Ma Ping and his nascent soul took their time to thrust their lances, stabbing the orcs down one-by-one even though they hadn’t reached them yet. Similar to Jia Shan’s domain power, Ma Ping could stab anyone in his domain in every direction without touching them.
Jia Shan observed his new colleague’s performance and nodded in admiration.
“As expected of a war hero. Senior Ma, your domain power is still as nasty as ever.”
Ma Ping laughed, but he continued to thrust his lance, “The same goes to you! If I remember correctly, you have a similar domain power as mine, right? You can slash anyone within your domain.”
“Yes. Unfortunately, I get this power through my dao god. On the other hand, you’ve comprehended a dao and obtain this domain power yourself. I still have a long way to go if I compare myself to you.”
“Ah, you’re too humble, Sword Saint Jia. Dao Gods or not, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re one of the deadliest nascent soul cultivators on this continent. No wonder why Poison Pavilion went for you.”
“True. Well, we have a common enemy. After we get our power back, we should talk about how we can get back on Poison Pavilion.”
As they were chatting, Ma Ping slaughtered a total of 80 orcs by himself. Yet, he hadn’t used more than 1,000 liters of his yang essence.
The remaining 20 orcs still hadn’t given up attacking them. They sacrificed their friends as their meat shields and cladded their advanced element power on their weapons.
Strangely, all orcs had comprehended the same advanced element and dao. As they hacked their weapons at Ma Ping, their core pillars revealed the avatars of a giant Heaven Eye inside a red crystal, which boosted their weapon power with crysto element and metal element.
As soon as their dao avatars came out of their bodies, Ma Ping’s simple domain attacks became ineffective. His lance failed to puncture through their skin.
“Whoops!”
CLANK!
Ma Ping’s nascent soul deflected 20 weapons, which came for his head. The spirit knight also unleashed its metal, earth, and crysto element to push back his opponent’s element Qi.
Their crysto element Qi repelled each other. The 20 orcs were pushed back, but Ma Ping was also knocked back.
Before the orcs could follow up with their combined strength, one of them suddenly lost his head.
Jia Shan, who had been watching on the sideline, finally decided to intervene. He activated his domain.
His nascent soul slowly came out of Jia Shan’s body. Instead of having a similar face and body as Jia Shan’s, the soul had transformed into a humanoid mutant with a black shell of a tortoise on his back. His spiritual skin glowed in light green color, but everyone could tell that they were made with unknown green jewels.
The Black Tortoise’s soul had merged with Jia Shan’s nascent soul!
Jia Shan’s energy emitted cold air. Black miasma also covered his sword as if it was a cursed weapon.
The energy and the miasma were not an advanced Qi nor element Qi, but it was Black Tortoise’s divine aura, which had merged with Jia Shan’s sword intent. With these energies, the sword saint cut through the natural barrier of the crysto element Qi with ease.
After Jia Shan had confirmed that his new power was useful, he slashed 19 times in a row within one breath.
The remaining orcs couldn’t even turn around or block the domain attack of Jia Shan. Their heads rolled off their neck, and their core pillar avatars faded to nothingness.
19 orcs, including the dead one earlier, fell to earth, following their dead comrades.
Seeing the performance of Jia Shan, Ma Ping whistled, “That was clean. Did you get that ability from the divine pill?”
Jia Shan smiled wryly, “It’s embarrassing to say. But yes, it’s the power I have gotten from the pill.”
“Why embarrass? Your disciple made it for you. You should be proud of him and your power!”
“Hahaha! Thank you for your kind words, Senior Ma.”
The two supreme masters continued to chat, exchanging their insight about their domain power. As all orcs had been dealt with, they no longer worried about the people outside the city.
Nobody had noticed that a certain invisible man had been busy collecting the spoil of war. Ma Moxi moved quietly and picked up weapons, armors, pouches, and everything that the orcs had been carrying with them into his spatial rings.
…
On top of the wall, Li Jue and Niu Fu had seen everything.
The masked old man broke a cold sweat, “Figured. A hundred unprepared 6th-stage orcs can’t possibly be a match for those two men.”
Li Jue reevaluated his situation as this city’s defense and its garrison forces were too strong.
