Chapter 753: Tournament Ground

Chapter 753: Tournament Ground

Chapter 751 – Tournament Ground

The free-for-all fight turned into one angel VS all immortals in the arena.

The number of participants rapidly decreased as Miaomiao’s pets were deadly enough to kill any immortal with just one bite. Only immortals that could inflict area damage to flying creatures manage to escape from the purple butterflies.

Ma Moxi, on the other hand, had it easy. He used his cheat and became invisible. The butterflies couldn’t find him and went for the other immortals instead.

Pang Lingming got swarmed by butterflies. A thousand of them bit him and dug into his flesh.

Xie Tian created a flame domain and burnt all cursed monsters that came close to him. Even the karma centipedes were cut down with ease.

While the immortals and Xie Tian were busy fending off the purple butterflies, Miaomiao got room to breathe. He avoided Xie Tian and flew toward the nearest immortals.

Unfortunately, not all immortals were weak cabbages. They noticed Miaomiao’s intent and counterattacked with their soul domain abilities. One of them copied Miaomiao’s skills and transformed into an angel with grey wings as well.

CLANK

The copycat even mimicked Miaomiao’s appearance and Killer Queen. He also activated the sword domain and sliced Miaomiao a thousand times every second.

All slashes grazed Miaomiao’s skin and wings, but none of them managed to get to his bones. The real Miaomiao didn’t even parry the attacks as he was confident in his physique.

The copycat laughed, “Your skills are impressive, young man! Be honored that I’ll be using your skills from now on, including your identity!”

“Oh, stealing my identity, too?” Miaomiao was impressed.

“Hahaha! My domain law can copy anything that I see. Even if you didn’t use all your skills, I can still copy everything, including your bloodline and physique! I must say, you have quite a foundation!”

The immortal laughed and created a word formation around him. It was [Death], and he was now using Death Essence as his primary energy.

Despite facing such an absurd immortal, Miaomiao didn’t flinch. He created two-word formations under his feet, but the characters were [Luck] and [Steal].

“Luck? What do you need LUCK for? Praying for a miracle? Too late, the victory is mine!”

The immortal sneered at Miaomiao. He thought that the latter lacked experience in his arts, and he planned to use the Death Essence and Death Word Formation to finish him off.

“You don’t have enough luck. You can’t harm me, copycat.”

There was one thing that the copycat immortal could not mimic, and it was his luck, which carried over from his previous life.

Luck was not just “Luck” or being “Lucky”. It was related to all abilities, lifespan, and Heavenly Fate of a cultivator. By having higher Luck than others, a cultivator was likely to be chosen as a Heavenly Fate bearer and become a protagonist.

A protagonist’s power was related to their “Luck” as well. A protagonist with less Luck than the others was always overshadowed and consumed by a fellow protagonist with more Luck.

Luck could also give random inspiration to cultivators. And now, Miaomiao, who had abundant Luck from all the protagonist hunts, wanted nothing more than Luck from other pseudo protagonists in this arena.

CLANK

The copycat’s katana failed to cut through Miaomiao’s skin once again.

The immortal didn’t understand how his new power failed to harm Miaomiao. He narrowed his eyes and exerted more strength. His Death Essence resonated with the black katana in his hand, and his domain range shrank as he focused his power on Miaomiao alone.

When the immortal swung his katana at Miaomiao again, the latter swung Killer Queen.

SWUA

The immortal’s arm with the fake Killer Queen was cut off.

“HOW?!”

“Never question this world’s logics of Luck and Plot Armor. I’m a protagonist, but you’re just nameless cannon fodder and EXP for me to farm.”

Miaomiao never revealed the truth, but he knew that Luck was the Law of the Universe. Anyone with Luck could bend nature and the entire universe in their favor.

Luck and Chaos Element worked in a similar way. However, Luck was superior to Chaos as it was an uncontrollable power with no side effects. On the other hand, Chaos Element users had to pay a price for bending the laws of the universe.

Miaomiao seized the neck of the copycat. Death Essence from the immortal flowed into his body, dantian, and feathers.

Sensing that Miaomiao was stealing the immortal’s Qi, Killer Queen slipped off Miaomiao’s hand and stabbed into the copycat’s chest, competing for Qi.

The immortal stared at Miaomiao in disbelief while he was withering into a dried mummy.

After the immortal died, Miaomiao scanned the arena for other survivors.

WHOOSH

Miaomiao couldn’t even use his domain to count the number of survivors. A magic circle appeared under his feet, and he was teleported to another place.

When Miaomiao could see everything again, he found himself inside a glass capsule. He could look around, but he could no longer move.

Upon looking around, Miaomiao found Ma Moxi, Xie Tian, and several immortals in similar glass capsules. As soon as Miaomiao realized what situation he was in, he sighed.

“My Luck is still inferior to Pangu’s goons, I see. If my soul can be freely teleported here and there, I still have a long way to go.”

Miaomiao stopped worrying about the situation and closed his eyes to meditate.

Meanwhile, Ma Moxi tried to teleport out of the glass capsule, but he couldn’t circulate his Qi. Xie Tian also forcefully evoked his power, but everything was suppressed.

Ma Moxi and Xie Tian looked around and counted the number of trapped immortals.

31

There were exactly 31 immortals.

Ma Moxi and Xie Tian recalled that Pan Mei wanted the number to decrease to 31 so that they could join the tournament round. Then, they stop resisting.

After everyone calmed down, they observed the situation outside the glass capsule. Currently, their capsules were suspended in the sky above an arena, and about 50,000 spectators were cheering at the people at the center.

Down below, two players competed in a duel, and they were in the middle of throwing skills at each other. They moved at a slow speed, which made Miaomiao and other immortals want to yawn.

Several hours later, the tournament was concluded. The winner of the tournament stood at the center of the stage and received rewards from the hosts.

Miaomiao narrowed his eyes as if he couldn’t believe what he saw. The winner of the tournament was a female Oni with the same face as Wei Yuan, but her soul’s signature was different. Moreover, the player had a flat chest, and she was a lot weaker than his wives.

As Miaomiao continued to observe the weird event down below, he noticed that one of the hosts was none other than Pan Mei, whom Miaomiao had met when he was a part of the Eden Garden Sect.

‘That player… So, he’s one of Pangu’s men, I see.’

Miaomiao added Pan Mei’s name to his hit list. He swore that he would suck Pan Mei’s luck to the last drop.

“That concludes the Individual Tournament! Tomorrow, the first round of Guild War will begin! I hope every guild is ready for castle war!”

The crowd cheered. A few minutes later, they vanished from the arena. After everybody was gone, the hosts also left.

Miaomiao and the immortals got stuck in the capsules, unable to get out. They kept on looking, hoping for a change. But in the end, they got stuck there for the entire day.

The next day, the hosts came to the arena first. They smiled at the 31 immortals.

“Please be patient. We will hold your tournament after the guild war.”

Miaomiao, Xie Tian, Ma Moxi, and the 28 immortals glared at the hosts. They swore to kill them whenever they got out.

.

The event continued, and the hosts introduced groups of players, who were participating in the event. Among them, Miaomiao noticed a cute catopus and his friends were among the tournament participant members.

Strangely, that catopus had the aura signature of his son!

Although Miaomiao rarely interacted with his orc sons and oni son, he still missed them. He always regretted that he didn’t get to see them grow up and have a proper family.

By seeing the catopus, Miaomiao felt a lot better. His swelling anger in his chest vanished, replaced with a warm feeling of the reunion.

While Miaomiao was gazing at the small catopus, Mu-Nyang’s voice transmission finally arrived.

‘Sorry for taking it so long, munya!’

Miaomiao let out a long sigh.

‘Yeah, took you long enough. You said you needed an hour, but it took you a whole day.’

‘I’ve been investigating and cracking Pangu’s karma memory, munya! That red ring is indeed a cursed device. If you die in the arena, your soul will be destroyed, munya.’

‘So… could you get me out of here and remove this?’

‘Removing the ring is easy. But I need you to stay here a bit longer, munya. There’s something else I need you to do for me!’

‘What is it?’

‘Protect your son’s soul from Pangu, munya!’

‘What the hell is Pangu doing? What’s going to happen to my son?’

‘I read the karma. Remember the monster that sacked the players, munya?’

‘Which one?’

‘Nian.’

‘Not a clue. I never saw that guy.’

‘Oh, right. You never got out of that place and met that guy in the medium realm. Oh, well. Long story short, Nian is a creation of Pangu that he created by copying me, munya. He is targeting your son, and he is trying to kill him during the Guild War.’

‘Well, shit. Our enemies are everywhere. What do I need to do?’

‘The guild war’s participants have to be under level 1,000, but you exceed that threshold, so you can’t directly join them, munya. But there is still a trick. Here’s the deal. I’m going to…’

Mu-Nyang took his time to brief what Miaomiao had to do next. Miaomiao also patiently listened to his boss’ instructions while he looked at the cheerful cat and his goofy friends.

.

Among the guild members of the catopus, a mute fisherman looked up as he sensed something odd. As soon as he looked up, he noticed that 31 glass capsules were floating above the arena, and the people inside were looking at the people below.

The fisherman widened his eyes when he discovered Miaomiao. He brought out a scroll from his inventory to see the portrait. Then, he compared it with Miaomiao’s face.

“…”

The fisherman turned toward a fairy on his shoulder. The small fairy girl also looked up and found Miaomiao.

She gasped as if she had seen a Hollywood Super Star. She flew toward the catopus on a woof girl’s shoulder.

The catopus looked at the fairy and paused for a moment. Then, he looked up.

WHOOSH

The capsule of Miaomiao vanished.

The catopus didn’t find the angel in the portrait. He looked back at his subordinates.

“Are you sure that HE was here, munya?!”

The fisherman repeatedly nodded.

The catopus looked up again. He pursed his lips and clicked his tongue.

‘Even if he’s here, how do we contact him to complete THAT stupid quest!?’
