Chapter 216 - Unintentional Green Hat
Chapter 216 – Unintentional Green Hat
They were mostly half dead but as soon as they heard that cry they dragged their injured bodies desperate to answer that call.
Most of them were finished off before they could even reach the railing but one that had been hiding under the stairs slipped through the cracks and clawed its way towards the edge of the ship.
Unfortunately, the shortest way to get off the ship happened to be where Xunshi Zhe was standing. Xunshi Zhe who had been frightened half to death by this ordeal was completely unaware that something was crawling behind him.
So one can only imagine his reaction when he felt a cold bony hand touch his ankle. Memories of his leg being pulled down into the deep water when he was five instantly flooded in his mind and his entire body froze.
As the hand crawled further up his breathing became erratic and with a loud shout he cried out, "AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!" while kicking this filthy creature. He was distraught with a face as white as a sheet of paper looking like a ghost. Looking at his face right now one couldn't help but wonder who should be afraid of who exactly.
As soon as he was free from the clutches of the sinister creature Xunshi Zhe didn't waste any time running for his life. He didn't want to die here. In fact, in his current state, he should be more worried about scaring himself to death.
Big Hei watched as that skinny figure ran for dear life towards the lower deck. He shook his head in disbelief as he summoned his battle-axe.
When he turned to face the creature the both of them froze for a moment staring at each other with an intense gaze. The mermaid was climbing over the railing with a third of its body off the ground.
Sensing the threat coming from this big man the mermaid made a hissing sound with an expression so terrifying it would make Xunshi Zhe die of fright. Unfortunately for the mermaid, this wasn't Xunshi Zhe but Big Hei. That battle-axe was especially ruthless chopping off its head cleanly. The smell of blood soon pervaded the air leaving behind a metallic aftertaste in one's mouth.
Big Hei heaved a sigh but sadly it was too early to relax because the makeshift dragon Ji Yao had been dealing with gathered itself up and attacked the ship. It opened its mouth as a sizzling ball of lightning gathered at the back of its throat. It couldn't wait to tear that boat apart and sink it at the bottom of the sea with its crew.
With the ball of lightning almost covering its entire mouth it charged forward ready to teach that brat with no respect for legendary creatures a lesson.
Seeing its victory looming on the horizon it increased its speed. With a loud whoosh sound, it gathered more energy as it approached the ship but just before it fired an explosive blast obliterated the mermaids.
The dragon almost scattered into vapour from the powerful force. Thinking it had gotten off scot-free it aimed at the ship again and blasted powerful lightning. Unfortunately for it, the attack was intercepted by Ji Yao who shot out of the water and punched the lower jaw of the makeshift dragon redirecting its attack to the sky.
A deadly beam of lightning shot up into the atmosphere. The force from the displacement of air was so powerful that it caused strong tidal waves that shook Red Bane.
Ji Yao looked down at his flame covered fist and couldn't help but marvel at the power of the eternal flame. This special flame was slightly different from his usual fiery blaze but it also took a toll on his body. If he wanted to use it often he would have to grow his strength so he can withstand the pressure for a longer period of time.
While he was hovering above the surface of the water looking at his fist, the makeshift dragon fell into the sea with a loud splash despite being made of clouds. Once it hit that water it was game over.
Dozens of electric sparks spread all over the water and soon a dozen electrocuted corpses of mermaids surface on the surface creating a gruesome scene.
Ji Yao slowly went back to his ship. With footsteps as light as a feather, he stepped on deck and his gaze swept past the bloodied mess on his ship. The entire crew that had just witnessed him dealing with the vicious dragon with a single blow were still gawking at him in awe.
Ji Yao put his hand that he had been looking at behind his back and stared back at these people asking, "What? Are you going to stand here all day watching me?"
The crew, "…"
Everyone scattered like flies with some looking up to the sky, others bumping into each other as they rushed to look for something to busy themselves with while others pretended to be working hard wiping away invisible dust off the main mast of the ship.
Ji Yao found this scene comical. A slight smile barely perceptible to the human eye appeared on his face as he took a step forward.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!" was the sound of a girl screaming like she was being murdered. Her screams drew everyone's attention as they eyed the main door to the lower deck. In swift steps, Ji Yao rushed over to Xiaoyu's cabin and kicked the door open. The rest of the crew also ran behind him anxious and soon they were crowding the small room.
Xiaoyu lay on the bed her eyes shut as she screamed her lungs out. Her delicate snowy white skin on her shoulder was covered in wounds like something was trying to eat her but failed to finish the job.
Ji Yao immediately walked over and tried to push her awake. But the moment he lay a hand on her his arm was suddenly grasped and he fell over. She immediately embraced him her body trembling like a leaf with her eyes still shut.
The crew who had just witnessed Rui Fei getting a green hat looked away pretending to be invisible. Ji Yao felt so sick being touched by her. He felt so uncomfortable but Xiaoyu embraced him even tighter muttering something inaudible.
Ji Yao knew she wasn't faking it. She was so stuck in her nightmare that the creature they were here for almost ate her but he couldn't stand the contact.
He was about to tell them to take her off him when the Rui siblings who had been missing in action showed up looking like they were coming out of a wind tunnel.
Rui Yewan, "…."
Rui Li, "That bitch."
