Chapter 230 - Cheap Imitation
Chapter 230 – Cheap Imitation
Rui Fei licked the corner of his lips that was stained with blood. His deadly gaze sent a chill down the creature's spine but it didn't back down. This was its main coarse meal for the day so how could it give in?
The metallic taste of blood lingered at the tip of his tongue as he replied, "Just because you can change shape and look like him it doesn't mean you can be him. You are just a cheap imitation."
The creature picked him up by his neck and threw him harshly to the ground. Rui Fei's spine hit the edge of the canopy bed breaking it into pieces.
At the wave of its hand, the creature made the room vanish and replaced the sheer clothes it was wearing with an exquisite turquoise robe embroidered with wave patterns. It flung its sleeve before grabbing Rui Fei by his hair raising his face up to look at it.
"Yet this cheap imitation lured you away from the rest of your group. You have to admit at least I have some skill," it said before attempting to slap Rui Fei in the face.
Rui Fei grasped its wrist before that happened and flung the creature away. The power he used wasn't light at all but because this creature was still full of vitality it stopped before it could hit the ground.
Walking towards Rui Fei in slow strides it continued to say, "This time no one will save you. Your sweetheart is stuck in his own fantasy. Who knows….. maybe by now he is rolling beneath the sheets in his sweet dream with Xiaoyu."
"He is only interested in you because you are the only one he can touch. Wait until he finds out he can touch Xiaoyu. Your fragile relationship held up by a broken thread will crumble soon."
Rui Fei's heart twisted painfully at its words. He couldn't fully understand what the creature was saying. He knew that Ji Yao didn't let anyone else touch him apart from himself but what did this have to do with anything?
Why would Ji Yao suddenly allow Xiaoyu to touch him? Isn't that Ji Yao only allowed him to touch because Ji Yao liked him? Seeing this childlike naive expression the creature couldn't wait to enlighten this lost cub. It chuckled lightly before saying,
"Oh, you thought you were special? Tsk, tsk… let me tell you something about the Qilin clan. They can't touch or be touched by anyone who doesn't have a blood relation to them or someone who doesn't have high compatibility with them."
"This means that the only reason why Ji Yao is with you is because of your high compatibility. In simple terms, he, is, desperate…. He doesn't actually like you, I mean which man would like a flat-chested person when they can have soft perky boobs to play with?"
"Once he finds that woman he isn't repulsed by and can bear his children… you are done. He will throw you out like trash and you would have to watch the one you love live a happy life with someone else and that someone won't be you. Hehehe… you actually thought it was true love! So delusional."
The grin on Rui Fei's face sank. You could tell this bothered him so much. He clenched his fists till his knuckles turned white as he glared viciously at the creature that still wore his beloved's face.
The creature that meant to derail Rui Fei's rational mind saw that the plan was working so it continued spouting nonsense. With its hand covering its mouth it displayed a surprised look and said, "Oh my, he didn't tell you? I think I said too much he hehehe."
There was no truth basis to what it said but that crystal bottle did contain something that could make Ji Yao not averse to Xiaoyu's touch. As to how it acquired this? It's because in Niuq it once chanced upon a snake oil salesman and lured him into its lair.
After a hearty meal, it went through his storage ring and found all kinds of overly hyped remedies including this miracle serum. In truth, it did the job temporarily but there were negative effects on the Qilin so it was abolished by the clan with a kill on sight order for anyone selling this.
The danger could be best explained with poisoner's poison a colourless, odourless and tasteless toxic substance. If one keeps getting in contact with it while unaware of its presence they will still fall ill or die. Just because one can't see it or taste it doesn't mean its potency is erased.
The same principle applied to the Qilin. Because of the potion, they wouldn't be averse to that person but the damage would still be there. This is why the Qilin didn't use it despite it giving them more options in choosing a spouse.
Now that very same serum was in the hands of the creature and it wanted to give it to Xiaoyu. Rui Fei naturally knew nothing of this. He was still dealing with this devastating piece of news. There was a chance all that doting and indulgence from Ji Yao was fake. He was just doing it because he had no other alternative.
Taking advantage of Rui Fei's lost look the creature decided to take advantage of the situation and kill this cub. Its stinger rose in the air and this time it was aimed at Rui Fei's aether. Splat!
Was the sound of something sharp piercing flesh followed by a shallow groan and a loud thud as a body fell to the ground.
Meanwhile, Ji Yao who had been deserted by Rui Fei had followed him in the mist calling out his name. With his sword in hand, he searched everywhere for him only to find himself in his cabin on Red Bane.
He knew this had to be one of the creature's tricks so he remained vigilant. Looking around at the empty cabin he called out Rui Fei's name but there was no answer. He could subtly feel someone's presence in this cabin so he kept walking forward.
Soon a loud clatter was heard and a roll of canvas fell to the floor. He rushed over to that side of the cabin and drew his weapon pointing at the person's neck.
Xiaoyu who was standing amidst the mess raised her hands in surrender with a panicked look on her face. She stammered, "Yao, Yao-ge… I," but she soon found she couldn't speak anymore as the sword grazed her neck. This wasn't the real Xiaoyu but smoking mirrors.
Through gritted teeth, Ji Yao asked, "What are you doing here?" with his gaze sweeping past the mess she had caused.
Xiaoyu gulped with sweat dripping down her forehead and pointed at the canvas on the ground. "Tha-that," she said before closing her eyes as tears flowed at the corner of her eyes.. She was terrified half to death.
