Chapter 262 - Our Ship?
Chapter 262 – Our Ship?
Lan Wu somewhat reached the epitome of enlightenment as he stood there like a statue. One can say that from this moment the lackey was slowly transforming into a smitten love-struck fool.
A lackey would have slowly coaxed this boss to go with him but this lackey was slowly shedding his status as the boss' errand boy so he didn't respond likewise. He pursed his lips and turned around to say, "Then you can stay I will send your favourite things over when I get to the ship," with a set smile.
Huishe Yue, 'WTF.'
This lackey was no longer going with the script. Lan Wu was meant to coax him, engage in a push and pull conversation before he finally relents in exchange for something like a massage or his favourite snacks. But this time Lan Wu didn't go according to the script.
After saying this Lan Wu who was having an internal struggle forced his feet to turn and walk away which was the most difficult thing for this facecon to do. He sincerely hoped Huishe Yue would change his mind and go with him but that wasn't guaranteed.
To Huishe Yue he was probably a pushover that is available at his beck and call, and once he is of no use he would be discarded. This is what Lan Wu sincerely believed and he was sort of fine with it as long as Huishe Yue still needed him.
Huishe Yue cleared his throat as he slowly caught up with him and said, "No need. I will get them myself." This in itself was a lie. He wasn't going there to get his stuff but to stay. He was just using this excuse as a way to save face. The 'stuff' they were talking about wasn't even important.
Huishe Yue had an interspatial storage on his person where he kept very important things. But the things on Lan Wu's ship were miscellaneous items like his favourite pillow or his jade hairpin he left in his cabin.
Both of them knew that but none of them decided to mention it. It was a silent way of saying, "Let's all just pretend like the things on the ship are so important and a matter of life and death."
While they were walking away Lan Wu's gaze shifted back to the door of the kitchen. He then recalled that he saw Huishe Yue robbing food out of Rui Fei's bowl.
In the past, Huishe Yue had only done that to him giving him the illusion that he was special. It would be good if he could let it go but he wanted to know. Maybe it was because he wanted to know what sort of position he had in Huishe Yue's heart though using this as a benchmark sounded stupid.
"You took food from Rui Fei's bowl earlier?" asked Lan Wu after mulling over how to start this strange conversation for a very long time. Since there was no way of asking this without sounding weird he decided to go with a straightforward approach.
Huishe Yue didn't think this question relevant so he answered casually. "He hadn't touched it yet plus this is payback for each time he mooched off at your place. He has a wife here yet he keeps running to our ship like he doesn't have a home. He needs to learn to speak to his partner and not run off to other people's houses after every argument. It's a very terrible habit to have in a relationship," he said completely veering in a different direction.
This matter had been bothering him for a very long more especially because when Rui Fei was having problems with Ji Yao the one who suffered most was this uncle. Huishe Yue was tired of it but could only vent this way.
While he was ranting incessantly he didn't notice the beaming smile creeping up Lan Wu's face. The word 'our' echoed in his mind making him the happiest man. Yes, Huishe Yue was laying claim on his property but this also meant he considered Blue Urchin his home. That's all Lan Wu cared about at this moment.
In the middle of his rant, Huishe Yue turned to look at Lan Wu who had been silently listening to him as they stood at the edge of the main deck only to see him smiling foolishly like he had won an award.
Lan Wu who had been staring into blank space suddenly felt an intense gaze burrowing through his skin. The smile on his face slowly vanished as he pressed his lips into a thin line.
Huishe Yue looked at him suspiciously. That gaze was all so familiar to Huishe Yue mainly because he saw it every day on his soon to be ex-wife's face when they were young. She would rush over to him after training with a bowl of winter melon soup and the exact expression Lan Wu had on. He couldn't help but think, 'Is xiao Wu in love?'
Being stared at like that for such a long time Lan Wu felt so embarrassed. He downplayed his embarrassment by patting Huishe Yue's arm while saying, "Let's go," with a friendly smile, unlike the one he had before.
Huishe Yue was still trying to figure out what was happening with Lan Wu and he didn't respond to his question immediately. It was only after Lan Wu asked, "What? Do you want me to carry you?" in a playful tone that he came back to himself and replied,
"Yes…" This answer was obviously not what he intended to say. He wanted to say no but his mouth had a mind of its own and agreed to this awkward suggestion. Lan Wu had been joking when he said it. One can only imagine his reaction to this answer.
Seeing Lan Wu's delayed response Huishe Yue finally gained the upper hand. After being thrown off earlier by Lan Wu's refusal to coax him he felt like he was losing his lackey. Now that Lan Wu had dug a pit for himself he wouldn't be Huishe Yue if he didn't take advantage.
"What? You don't want to? Uh… I see where the issue is. You can't carry me, can you? Tsk, it's okay. This Huishe can carry you. Let's go," he said before lowering his body and grabbing Lan Wu. His hand slipped under Lan Wu's bent knees and the other rested across his back lifting him in a princess carry.
Lan Wu's heart beat furiously with blood rushing to his cheeks giving them a faint blush. He wanted to protest but in the blink of an eye they landed on Blue Urchin's quarterdeck and he was already being placed down.
After putting him down Huishe Yue didn't care for his reaction ambling over to the cabin at a snail's pace.. That's because he was worried Lan Wu would ask him to take his stuff and leave as discussed previously on Red Bane.
