Chapter 284 - Reassuring His Love
Chapter 284 – Reassuring His Love
For thousands of generations, women have waited for their husbands to come home. It's a tradition that has been passed down from one mother to the next and the tradition had also evolved. Some wives wait in the dark, others wait with a glass of wine and others with a knife if they know he wasn't at work.
Ji Yao was no wife but he surely waited for Rui Fei for a very very long time. This young master had never had to wait for someone this long. Now he kind of regretted denying Rui Fei a little snack. As the regret seeped in it came in tainted with a dash of insecurity which wasn't necessary but he couldn't help himself. The fact that his mother left him as a baby might have messed him up a little. The only difference between him and Rui Fei is that when he felt insecure or drank a bucket load of vinegar he could keep a straight face while burning with rage inside.
Rui Fei on the other hand, if he is sour the words very sour would be written all over his forehead. Now that he had an hour of dead silence and no Rui Fei in sight his thoughts went rampant thinking of unhealthy things.
At first, he was very patient. He was refreshed after a lovely bath and dressed himself in a lovely blue robe with slightly thinner material than usual. It's not that he was trying to seduce anyone in that long flowy robe that accentuated his waist and complimented his complexion.
It's just that he chose this robe because he wanted to look good for…. Okay fine, he had a point to prove. He wanted to show his rubbernecking cub that he was better looking than that girl. But after sprucing himself up with his gorgeous lustrous hair tied in a messy bun with a silk head tie he ended up waiting this long.
Yes, he did a lot of sprucing just to go to bed but he would never admit that. They say that people in love do silly things but who could blame him? He wanted to look good for his baobei.
As his patience began to wear thin Ji Yao decided to calm himself with a few cups of tea which would be equivalent to a glass of wine for the modern-day wife. Six cups later Ji Yao began looking around for his secret stash of liquor. Since he wanted to be sober by the time Rui Fei gets here he steered clear of the serpent's kiss.
Opting for some warmed up rice wine Ji Yao had officially begun his impatient wait. His mind began to replay the moment that girl appeared and eyed his boyfriend with a look that was obviously vicious and hateful which Ji Yao's vision interpreted as lustful.
It was like his IQ took a nose dive the moment he saw her looking at Rui Fei. But he didn't have anything to worry about, right? His experience being with Rui Fei should have comforted and reassured him but he was a Qilin after all. The amount of vinegar he could guzzle down was beyond recompense.
A few cups in and he could barely feel anything except that he was a little giddy. He took out the jade tile that had Rui Fei's name on it which was a gift given to him when he had no idea what flipping tiles was. He caressed this tile with a nostalgic look on his face thoughts unknown.
But based on his expression he might be plotting to imprison Rui Fei, maybe….. I am not really sure. This exact same expression was the very thing Rui Fei walked into and he almost ran back out in fright.
His Yao-ge's eyes were shimmering like pearls the moment he noticed him. That dark gloomy aura from before vanished abruptly and the black expression tucked away as he beckoned him over. Rui Fei could tell Ji Yao had drunk a little but it wasn't enough to make him drunk.
He sat next to Ji Yao noticing the jade tile on the other man's hand. Something was definitely up with Ji Yao and it had nothing to do with the keystone so he took it upon himself to ask while trying his hardest to avoid being a pervert.
Ji Yao looked so sexy in that robe and if he looked close enough he could swear he would see some skin. The man smelt so good making Rui Fei's blood boil in excitement and the way he tired his hair accentuated his striking features. He could easily see the reddened tips of Ji Yao's ears urging him to take a bite.
Licking his dry lips he scooched over till he was sticking to Ji Yao like sticky dough. "What are you drinking?" he asked with his hand casually going behind Ji Yao for no particular reason except possibly….. to eat some tofu.
He hesitantly placed his hand on Ji Yao's waist while distracting him with some small talk which didn't really work by the way. Ji Yao licked his lips suppressing a smile when he felt that hand on his waist. "I am drinking some rice wine," he said pouring out some in a cup, "would you like some?"
Rui Fei leaned in closer playfully tugging the stray strands of Ji Yao's hair before burying his face in the crevice of the man's neck taking in his scent like a little pervert. Ji Yao jerked away feeling ticklish as he picked up the cup. "Will you stop?" said Ji Yao but his expression was basically saying if you stop you are dead.
Rui Fei was very understanding of Ji Yao's body language so he continued to mess around with his hands rubbing Ji Yao's waist and thigh, how adventurous. He was so into whatever this was that he actually thought Ji Yao was going to feed him the wine from his cup like those romantic couples in Rui Li's book but just as the cup seemed like it was going in his direction the trajectory changed drastically and that cup was downed in one shot by Ji Yao.
Slackjawed he just looked at that Adam's apple bobbing up and down as Ji Yao swallowed the contents. With his hand playfully caressing Ji Yao's back, he said, "I thought you were going to share it with me."
Ji Yao's slightly flushed lips pursed as he placed the cup down. His gaze shifted to Rui Fei with a smile that could drive a man crazy. "You took too long so you aren't getting any," replied Ji Yao leering at him. This kind of flirtatious gaze had Rui Fei feeling extremely parched. Ji Yao had to be drunk or at least tipsy to give him such a look out of nowhere. What he didn't realise was that it was just Dutch courage nothing more.
"Is that what's bothering you?" asked Rui Fei as their gazes locked together.
Ji Yao froze momentarily before pouring out another cup. "No….. but what took you so long?" he asked as he tilted the jar of rice wine but before he could pour it out Rui Fei held his hand stopping him. At this rate, he wouldn't be able to have a decent conversation with Ji Yao.
Ji Yao didn't object he simply looked at Rui Fei as he explained, "I don't remember my exact birthday because it never had any positive meaning to me but when you told me about my gift I um… I had to find out the exact date so….."
He had no choice but to stop talking there otherwise if Ji Yao finds out about the rest of the conversation he had with his siblings Ji Yao would possibly banish him to sleep on the louhan bed.
Ji Yao immediately understood. An overwhelming feeling of bitterness overpowered him but he tried to keep his expression as relaxed as possible. He gently squeezed Rui Fei's thigh in reassurance and said, "From now on I will make your birthday memorable."
Feeling bad about his insecure thoughts earlier he suppressed the urge to ask about what Rui Fei thought about that girl. He didn't want to spoil the mood but Rui Fei really wanted to know what was on Ji Yao's mind.
He curled his fingers in between Ji Yao's and pulled him closer before saying, "Mn, I know you will but… you have to tell me what's bothering you first."
Ji Yao who was suddenly pulled into Rui Fei's chest currently was listening to the cub's heart that seemed to be thumping loudly like he was well on his way to having a heart attack. It was because this cub was nervous and his heart couldn't help but race happily with his lover in his arms.
After a moment of silence, Ji Yao finally gathered the courage to speak. Without raising his head he asked, "That girl… what did you think of her?"
The fingers playfully teasing Ji Yao's shoulders paused for a moment before pleasant vibrations came from Rui Fei's chest making Ji Yao feel numb all over. Rui Fei helped him up and made them face each other before saying, "You know the answer to that and if you want me to say it I will say it to you as many times as you want."
Rui Fei caressed Ji Yao's cheek with a tender touch that oozed with affection. "I love you and have no eyes for someone else whether it be girl, guy, alien or some weird biological creature from god knows where. You are my heart, the very reason why I live. Yes, it's cliche but that's how my heart feels. You have absolutely nothing to worry about."
Ji Yao who had been struck down by cupid's arrow couldn't help but look away with a hint of embarrassment. Internally he was a bundle of nerves but externally he tried to keep his cool.. These sugar-coated words would normally make him angry if they were from anyone else but because it was Rui Fei his heart was melted into a sugary mess.
