Chapter 340 – Remember Who You Are Doing This For
Across the horizon, the darkness of the winter night slowly faded with a slight tinge of reddish-orange spreading across the top of the mountains. The slight temperature rise showed signs that today wasn't going to be as cold as yesterday.
It was indeed bound to be an enjoyable day but the shadows cast in the sky didn't seem to say so. A majestic Huishe covered the skies as it roared at the creature struggling to get up. It tried several times but with that loud roar that seemed to say, "Stay the fuck down," it slumped down slipping on its hooves with a defeated look.
Rui Fei's true form had changed drastically in this period. The stronger he got the more drastic the changes. His slithering body was a shimmering deep grey colour and his skin now had patches of sprouting scales with intricate patterns.
The tip of his tail had grey crystal-like spikes that were both alluring and terrifying. Similarly on his head were crystals shaped like a crown and behind it were tufts of hair flowing like the tentacles of shallow water corals under the gentle tide.
A luminous light constantly travelled from the crown on his head flowing down the extensive patterns on his body to the tip of his tail.
He was a gorgeous creature sculpted to perfection but his state at the moment made it hard for one to bask in his majestic splendour. This Huishe was mad as hell with fumes coming out of his nose. What was different though was his eyes. The vertical slits across his eyes were wider than before with inky darkness that made one's blood run cold.
Surrounding him was a chilling dark aura laced with a touch of ruthlessness and killing intent. Rui Fei in this state was completely hard to reason with though in this situation there was no need to talk things out.
Out of nowhere he dove down intending to strike the Aoyin creature and deliver a lot of pain but before he got to it something dark swept past him and smacked the Aoyin creature sending its body straight into the mountain.
A powerful earthquake followed after that as the Aoyin creature came tumbling down. Rui Fei who had been robbed of his chance to exact revenge was so enraged that he engaged his core and the luminous light flowing along the patterns in his body grew brighter gathering enough seraphic energy to level the entire province.
But before he could retaliate a dark Huishe appeared before him and said, "Fei-er! That's enough!," in a harsh tone that got softer in an instant, "Let uncle take care of this."
Rui Fei was in no mood to have a meaningless discussion with his uncle. He wanted to go over him and crush this creature to dust. But before he could implement his plan, his uncle said, "You can't hold this state for long so for once just listen to me."
Rui Fei who had his sore spot suddenly poked at got angrier. Uncle or not no one has the right to block his path. He was seriously going to attack Huishe Yue if he didn't move in the next second.
"I won't need that long now get out of my way," he replied before making a move.
Huishe Yue wasn't going to let that happen so he said it like it is. "Who is going to take care of Ji Yao? Can he last that long? Remember who you are doing this for."
The darkness in Rui Fei's eyes lessened with his entire body stiffening. In a swift move invisible to the naked eye he dove down and grabbed the unconscious Ji Yao vanishing on the spot. He was so ashamed of himself. Overwhelmed by anger he didn't consider Ji Yao's injuries. How could he forget his priorities?
While Rui Fei was beating himself up Huishe Yue was towering above the Aoyin creature with a deadly air surrounding him. His true form was still bigger than Rui Fei's but that cub was slowly catching up. The patterns on his body were more extensive and he didn't have as big of a crown as his nephew had. At the centre of his forehead was a black gem darker than the rest of his body.
His eyes were brimming with wickedness but he was much calmer than his nephew. Mistaking this for weakness the creature slowly got up with the keystone within its body glowing brighter and brighter. It was obviously greedy for that powerful seraphic energy emanating from Huishe Yue's body and so it supplied the creature with even more power.
Having received such a booster the creature regained its air of smugness as it stood tall facing off Huishe Yue. Yes, it wasn't as powerful as the Nocru but it had the keystone in its hands. If it defeated this pure blood and take his aether wouldn't that make it a god on earth? It could take on any pure blood from then on and have immeasurable power.
Knowing what it was thinking Huishe Yue snorted coldly. The only reason why he never took charge from the very beginning even when they fought the Yinying creature was because this was Ji Yao's crew and his ship.
If this was back at his clan he would have taken action without permission because that's his territory but this wasn't his clan nor were they at Niuq. He respected Ji Yao and would never go above him. He only intervened now because it was an emergency. Now that he was here he would show this creature what a true god looks like.
The creature that was smug a second ago was suddenly raised off the ground with its entire body surrounded by a dark mist. Eye to eye Huishe Yue said, "We don't think ourselves gods. We are gods," in a menacing voice that terrified the creature into submission.
Feeling a sense of danger the creature had to resort to other means to save its poor life. One of its creatures suddenly appeared out of nowhere holding a passed out boy in its arms. Behind it was Rui Li and Rui Yewan chasing after it.
When Rui Yewan saw Huishe Yue in his true form he abruptly halted his steps only for Rui Li to collide with his back.
Rubbing her forehead she said, "Tsk….. why did you stop?" but when she moved a step aside she got her answer.
"…..!!! I am suddenly glad he is on our side," she said staring in awe at the Huishe much bigger than her brother's true form.
"You are definitely not alone there," he responded not sure whether to proceed or not.
The boy who was unconscious a second ago was abruptly woken up when a claw grasped his thigh. Its talons dug deep into the boy's skin instantly waking him up with a painful scream.
His body began to seize up like the previous time as a dark shadow entered through his chest.
