Chapter 373 - Worst Luck In The World
Chapter 373 – Worst Luck In The World
For a moment it looked like Emperor Rui had the disadvantage as it was two versus one but after absorbing seraphic energy out of fifty of his offspring he was not a simple person to deal with. As the fight progressed he was adapting at a fast pace tapping into all fifty kinds of seraphic energies he robbed from others.
The tides soon shifted and the pair were getting suppressed quickly and sharply. Emperor Rui's methods were especially ruthless as the darkness took over his aether. The darkness in his pupils spread all over his eyes as he lost himself to his true nature.
As though possessed by an evil being from the deepest depths of hell he launched a vicious assault that made it difficult for the two to fend off. Seeing their struggle emperor Rui smiled smugly and said, "See….. even with the two of you combined you can't defeat a god like me."
Annoyed Rui Fei snorted coldly before transforming into his true form. With a powerful swing of his tail he struck emperor Rui and before he had a chance to gather himself, Rui Fei launched another assault with his seraphic energy slashing through the barrier surrounding Emperor Rui. The impact of the two fighting was so extensive that it caused the ground to shake.
Unfortunately, that also affected the pillars on the ground which were starting to show cracks. Terrified that they would crumble and they won't have a way to get out of here Ji Yao yelled, "Keep him busy," as he rushed over to insert the last keystone into its place.
As he dashed over the maniacal Emperor Rui who had at this point lost his rational thinking spotted Ji Yao rushing over to the pillars. Thinking the one way to subdue a stubborn person is to take away what's important to them he smiled maliciously.
So when Rui Fei struck his tail at him again Emperor Rui spun around in the air with his hands outstretched on either side releasing an explosive white mist obscuring Rui Fei's vision.
While Rui Fei was attempting to disperse the white mist Ji Yao who had been running towards the pillars sensed something coming from behind him. When he turned around to attack his just recovered aetherial veins were infiltrated again making him grimace in pain.
But because this time he was prepared he engaged his aether to maximum capacity pushing back the intrusive energy with extensive force. This push back sent the two flying in opposite directions.
Ji Yao crashed into a large tree snapping its trunk into bits and pieces. He immediately got up and gazed at his painful wrists. His hands were trembling from the pain but he ignored it as he strode to the stone slab with a limp in his step.
As he walked over he took out a healing elixir from his storage but before he could drink it he heard high pitched whooshing sounds coming in his direction. He seriously had to applaud Emperor Rui's persistence.
The man just wouldn't relent. He was about to dodge the spikes being shot in his direction when Rui Fei appeared behind him. With his body surrounded by a dark grey fog, he stopped the spikes coming in Ji Yao's direction. With the snap of his fingers, the spikes fell to the ground.
He tilted his head back and said, "Yao-ge go. I have your back."
Not wanting to waste time Ji Yao nodded his head and summoned the last keystone which rose into the air and he directed it into the last pillar. As soon as it attached itself in it's rightful place a luminous light emerged from the centre of the stone slab shooting up to the sky hence opening the rift between the two worlds.
As the light shot up Ji Yao felt weak at the knees that he half knelt on the ground as he opened the elixir with his trembling hands. He tilted his head back guzzling down the elixir when something sharp like a sword pierced his back out of nowhere stabbing right through his aether impaling it like Cupid's arrow stabs a heart.
Ji Yao's eyes widened as he looked down at the retracting blade. In a daze, he dropped the elixir in his hands and raised his trembling hand to touch the wound. With the veins on his neck throbbing, he raised his shaking hand and looked at the blood at his fingertips. "Fuck," he muttered before falling to the ground.
It was official, he had the worst luck in the world. His eyes blinking slowly he gazed up at the open rift and group of Huishe descending from the portal. "*Cough…. cough," he coughed weakly with blood seeping at the corner of his lips.
He faintly recalled seeing Rui Fei screaming at him while shaking him but Ji Yao couldn't hear anything. His ears were ringing as he dazedly stared at Rui Fei. His eyes felt heavy but his body felt a sense of weightlessness like his soul was flying away.
He reached out to stroke Rui Fei's cheek and comfort him. He wanted to tell him he would wake up soon but he found speaking was difficult. His bloodstained fingers touched Rui Fei's cheek staining his skin as he mouthed, "It will be okay."
But Rui Fei didn't seem to believe him. A blue light shot in his direction and Ji Yao wanted to warn him to be careful but he was like a spectator now losing the ability to even move his fingers.
Luckily Rui Fei saw it. Roaring like a distraught beast he retaliated with a force so powerful it shook the ground sending Emperor Rui flying across the forest. Ji Yao didn't see what happened afterwards.
All he saw was an older man similar in appearance to Rui Fei looking down at him with a murderous look in his eyes. After that, his vision went dark.
A distraught Rui Fei smashed emperor Rui's face to the ground with his eyes as dark as death. Before he was done with him someone grabbed him by the neck into a chokehold and pulled him up but that person was struck with a force powerful enough to level an entire city.
One by one he took down each Huishe in his path like a mutant on a rampage. His end goal was simple that is to make them pay for what they did to his Yao-ge. It took Huishe Nan holding him down for them to subdue him in his outburst. To them, Ji Yao was a Qilin half or not he had to die.
So when they saw him with the vicinity of their cub they were inclined to kill. Unfortunately, none of them knew the worth of this half Qilin to this half Huishe cub. By the time Huishe Yue got there he saw his father's vanguard pressing his nephew down as he fought violently to get to Ji Yao's already unmoving body.. His heart sank at that moment because he knew his nephew would never trust their clan in his entire lifetime.
