Chapter 379 – Funeral For A Beloved Daughter
Most people wouldn't notice the similarities but she grew up with her cousin and could easily spot his offspring. That boy right there undoubtedly belonged to Qilin Kai but when did his cousin get someone pregnant and why was this kid here?
From the get-go, she could tell he had no ounce of human DNA in him so this meant this child was a pure breed from Niuq. Her eye involuntarily twitched as she retracted her gaze. This unexpected piece of news was very intriguing. For the first time, she actually had something she could hang above Qilin Kai's head.
A knowing smile appeared on her face as she leapt up in the sky. Things had gotten more interesting. Huishe Tong who had noticed the lady with white hair staring at him felt scared for a moment. For a split second, he felt an air of hostility coming from her but it disappeared as fast as it came. His taut body relaxed as he heaved a sigh.
He was afraid this Qilin had identified him as a Huishe which would put his life in jeopardy. But it seemed he was overthinking things because the lady looked away as if she didn't care for him. This was good otherwise what would he do if he gets kicked off this uncle's crew.
In a matter of minutes, the Concord vanished out of sight leaving the island city.
Meanwhile, in the Huishe clan things weren't going so well. It had been two days already since Huishe Nan learnt the fate of his daughter and he was trying to perform a burial ceremony for her but that wasn't the only bad news.
He found out his grandson had gone missing just as he had calmed down enough to introduce Huishe Yue to his son. Not only that but Huishe Yue also proceeded to deny the possibility of him having a child with Wei Wei because things didn't proceed that far in their relationship. Wei Wei seemed to know she had run out of time because she tried to run away but she realised her baby was gone.
Thus the hysterical cries echoed in the valley as she frantically looked for Huishe Tong. As if that wasn't enough Huishe Yue went on to reveal that he knows for a fact that Wei Wei had an affair with Qilin Kai before they were married which almost broke Huishe Nan.
The Huishe clan descended in chaos once more and it was all because of the Qilin clan. His grandson he had been proud of and loved dearly was a Qilin. His actual grandson was in love with a half Qilin cub and had been locked up in his new room because of the uncontrollable outbursts he had been having ever since he stepped into this place.
Their entire family had been torn apart and it was all the Qilin clan's fault. This time the Qilin clan had truly overreached. Huishe Nan was so mad that he wrecked the entire hall vowing to wipe out the entire clan terrifying everyone including his wife.
So this funeral procession that should have been led by Huishe Nan was now led by Huishe Yue as his father wasn't in the right mindset to lead. On that gloomy day, the entire city was silent draped in sky blue garments as they followed Huishe Yue who was dressed in grey from head to toe holding up a white pillow with Huishe Xieyue's favourite attire.
This was in place of her body that they didn't have possession of. With red-rimmed eyes, he led the procession out of the city and up the highest peak where the garden was situated.
When he entered the garden he walked over to his father who was holding back his emotions and kowtowed before him with the pillow in hand.
Huishe Nan turned to his wife who was mourning with tears streaming down her face. With his left arm holding her up he guided her other hand to grab a handful of the pink flowers and together they sprinkled them on the neat pile.
"Little Xie… I am sorry father didn't protect you well enough… but, but I promise to avenge you and take great care of your son," he whispered and hearing this his wife couldn't help but break down. She began to wail louder and Huishe Nan had to embrace her tightly as his gaze lingered on the neatly folded garments.
At that moment he finally realised his mistake. He shouldn't have destroyed those pillars in anger at that time because now he wanted to wipe out the entire Qilin clan but to do that he had to open the portal.
To show that he had entirely lost his mind he vowed to gather all the clans and find a way to open that portal and wipe out the Qilin clan for good. Huishe Yue completely missed the ruthlessness in his father's eyes as he placed the pillow on the alter and took a step back.
As he watched the clan members each walk over to the altar to sprinkle the pink petals and say their last words to Huishe Yue he couldn't help clutch the side of his robe suppressing the cry of pain pressing down his chest. After sending his sister off he would take his father to Emperor Rui and vent their frustrations on him.
If his nephew was in his right mind he would have brought him along too so he could finally have his vengeance but unfortunately, the likelihood of that happening was slim.
After the entire clan said their farewell, Huishe Yue knelt and slammed his chest for each number of years she lived. Each slam into his chest caused people's hearts to ache ceaselessly. They could feel his grief and indignation as he punched his chest hard.
Halfway through he couldn't hold back his tears anymore. They came down like a waterfall his expression grim as the cries of anguish escaped his throat. His cry was incredibly infectious that the faint at heart couldn't help but wail with him as the rest comforted them.
These cries reached as far as Rui Fei's bedroom in the city. He was lying lifeless on the bed his eyes swollen like walnuts. He also wanted to wish his mother farewell but that wasn't his biggest desire. He longed to be with Ji Yao but these people had taken it away from him all because of conflict that had nothing to do with him.
Rifling through his clothes he took out Ji Yao's handkerchief and lay curled up on the bed sniffing it. This was the only thing that managed to calm him down lately.. At this point, he didn't know if he would ever see Ji Yao again but he will sure as hell do whatever it takes.
