Her eyes were wide open in the darkness as she stared emptily for God knew how long.

Lu Zhaoyang was struggling inside and could not find sleep.

The trees rustled outside in the wind, echoing the restlessness in her heart.

She could not help but recall what had happened earlier that day, when she went to Huo Yunting in a panic and accused him of drugging her mother.

He did not attempt to explain himself, but she could see that he was hurt by her accusation.

Lu Zhaoyang realized that she seemed to be in the habit of accusing of all the bad things happening around her.

When she really thought about it, the man simply had a big mouth and had never done anything truly despicable!

Lu Zhaoyang slowly removed her covers and carefully walked out of her bedroom.

It was very quiet at night in the Huo residence. There was no one in the corridor. She picked up her pace and to Huo Yunting’s room and knocked on his door.

When she heard footsteps inside, Lu Zhaoyang suddenly felt nervous.

When the door opened, she was pulled into an embrace before she could respond.

The door was closed shut and she was pushed against the wall.

Huo Yunting looked at her and tilted her chin up. His eyes narrowed when he noticed that her eyes were red.

He did not ask why she cried, knowing that she would explain herself soon enough.

“I…” Lu Zhaoyang started but could not continue. She looked away to avoid his gaze.

Huo Yunting was quiet for a long moment before he said, “It’s not embarrassing if you miss me.”

His fingers caressed her cheeks and then moved toward her earlobe.

It had been one whole month. Then she decided to visit him on this night. He would not waste this opportunity.

“I…” Lu Zhaoyang stuttered again and inhaled deeply. “That is, my mother’s miscarriage, um, I…”

Huo Yunting listened patiently, wondering what story she would try to spin up.

“I, I…” She braced herself and looked into his eyes. “I was wrong to accuse you, and I’m sorry!”

She could not admit that it was actually her mother ‘s idea. If Huo Yunting found out that her mother had actually done it to sabotage his relationship with his father, who knew what he would do in retaliation.

“Hah…” He chuckled smoothly with a sneer. “She took the medicine herself. You can’t fool me with amateur tricks and clumsy acting. Nevertheless, I have nothing to say about this rotten matter, so let’s put it aside.”

Lu Zhaoyang stared wide-eyed at him. Had he known all along?

If he had, but chose to say nothing… The fact that she was here but he had not done anything to her yet…

Huo Yunting grinned wickedly when he noticed her look of surprise. He pulled her down to the soft carpet behind him and rolled over on top of her to keep her down.

“Huo Yunting!”

It happened so suddenly that Lu Zhaoyang inadvertently raised her voice.

“You can cry a little louder. Huo Zhenning is sleeping in the opposite room tonight.”

He slipped his hand under her sleeping gown and watched her face closely. “If you feel guilty, then atone with your body.”

“They are two different things, don’t push it!” She could not break free from him and could only hiss quietly in protest.

“The fact is that we are husband and wife in the eye of the law. I don’t see how I’m doing anything wrong.”
