Chapter 25 The First Meeting With Another Transmigrator
I found out the harsh truth… My summons will remain at the stats I summoned them at… That means they don’t grow with me…
Oh well, I guess I can still just resort to the once a day max stats summon plan until I reach the level where my weakest summon is at least at a goblin’s level.
I’ve also just used them to spar from time to time, even sometimes having a few of them attack me at once to train my skills in handling situations where I am outnumbered.
The good news is that mother agreed to teach me unarmed combat in addition to my dagger skills.
The bad news is that her combat style basically revolves around simply beating the target until it dies so I don’t think I’ll be learning much in the way of martial technique from her.
Then again… It does do wonders for my strength training at least so I still get something out of that.
She also took me flying to teach me how best to use my wings and I learned how to execute aerial manoeuvres after a while. We even had an aerial spar which was an eye opening experience.
I’ve also been making use of my [Shadow Forge] to craft shadow equipment for my summons to use including weapons and armour. Even if my physical armour were to be torn to shreds, I can still make a new one using this spell.
The best part is that I could use this to train my archery since the arrows are made of shadows too so I didn’t need to worry about ammunition.
Coupled with the [Machine Learning] boon, I was basically speedrunning my training too.
And after following this training regime for six months, I was much stronger than a bear already.
[Name: Aster Nilm
Stats:
60 Strength
56 Dexterity
77 Endurance
95 Magic
Skills:
Hunting (Tier 2), Cooking (Tier 1), Martial Skill-(Dagger Proficiency (Tier 2), Unarmed Proficiency (Tier 1), Bow Proficiency (Tier 1))
Magic:
Mana Management (Tier 2), Umbramancy (Tier 2)]
[Hunting: You are able to come up with traps to ensnare or kill your prey using basic tools at your disposal. You will also be able to discern and identify the type of beasts that a track may belong to and follow them unhindered. As long as your prey makes no effort to cover up their own tracks, you are able to track them. To gain proficiency, embrace the ways of the hunter. (Progress to tier 3: 5%)]
One surprising skill is the bow proficiency under Martial Skill.
When I was creating my character, I remembered seeing a separate ‘Marksman Skill’ so I thought I would be getting that instead. But it seems like simply using a bow isn’t enough to get that skill.
Putting that aside, I’m going out to hunt monsters again tonight.
This is something that I’ve been doing every other day since I killed those goblins months ago. I would simply fly out at night, search for any signs of monsters, deal with them, then come back home.
Mother always waited for me to come back home before we went to bed, despite me telling her that she didn’t need to.
Flying through the air on this particular moonless night, I looked down at the mountains below me searching for signs of monsters.
Hmm? I’m feeling a rather large surge of mana coming from below me.
Most of the time, this would mean a monster had formed nearby and because newly formed monsters have quite pure Mana Crystals and would be weakened quite a bit, it’s worthwhile to hunt them down just for that.
I furled my wings and dived towards the ground, spinning around to land on my feet without a sound thanks to my [Shadow Glide].
I quickly cast [Shadow Wall] as well, allowing me to melt into the darkness without a trace while I tried to find the source of that mana surge.
That’s odd… I definitely felt the surge of mana around here, but yet I don’t see any monsters around?
Was I mistaken?
Just as I was thinking of flying back into the sky, I heard the sounds of music coming from behind me.
Turning around, I spotted a man seated on a fallen tree while strumming a guitar.
Now that I think about it… This is the first time I’ve seen another person aside from mother.
He looks human I guess… Or in this World’s terms, he would be known as a Mahun.
I didn’t really recognise the song but I kind of got the feeling that it’s some kind of anime opening theme song, or at least it’s giving me that kind of vibes.
That means this guy is most likely a transmigrator from my world too.
Looking at him, he looks like he’s probably around his twenties or so, most likely he either let himself be dropped into this world or transmigrated into someone else’s body instead of reincarnating like myself.
Out of curiosity, I tried to use my [Screen] on him.
[Name: Relliks Nart
Title: Champion of Srii
Race: Mahun
Stats:
380 Strength
244 Dexterity
200 Endurance
652 Magic
Skills:
Alchemy (Tier 2), Martial Skill-(Longsword Proficiency (Tier 2), Bow Proficiency (Tier 3)), Marksman Skill (Tier 3), Music Skill-(Guitar Proficiency (Tier 2))
Magic Skills:
Aeromancy (Tier 3), Electromancy (Tier 2), Chronomancy (Tier 2), Pyromancy (Tier 3), Somatomancy (Tier 2)]
I couldn’t help but be amazed at his stats. He could even beat the cockatrice back at home on his own! If he had [Shadow Summon], his ten percent summon could also be able to fight a bear too!
Damn, this guy really must have been living the good life here, huh?
Right then, he strummed the final notes and let the song fade into silence before turning towards my direction.
“How did you like my guitar skills?” He asked.
I narrowed my eyes at him. My [Shadow Wall] and [Shadow Glide] were still active so how did he even know I was here?
As though hearing my thoughts, he continued, “Oh, no need to panic, I had an air barrier set up so that I could tell if something was moving around. Kind of like an advance warning system.”
Huh, that’s pretty smart. I turned my senses to the air and indeed, there were traces of a spell being cast here. I guess this was what I mistook for a monster just now.
Since it was useless, I dropped [Shadow Wall] and let myself appear a short distance away from him.
He whistled, “Damn, you went the reincarnation route huh? I’m Relliks, and you are?”
“Aster,” I said simply. “How did you know?”
“Know that you’re also an Off-Worlder? Simple. You weren’t surprised or even curious about my guitar here and I’m guessing you know the anime this song is from too?”
‘Off-Worlder’? I guess that’s the term they’re using to refer to the people who came here from my world.
I shook my head, “I don’t know which one it’s from but I think I’ve heard it before… What are you doing here?”
“Oh damn, seriously? You’re the first one who doesn’t know about it!”
“I’ve never really watched anime back then, I prefer reading more. Are you going to tell me what you’re doing here?”
“Hmm? A cautious one aren’t you?” He grinned.
“If you could forgive me, I’d hardly think anyone would come here in the middle of nowhere and start playing a guitar for no reason, even if you are an Off-Worlder.”
He barked out a laugh, “Hahaha! You’re right, this does make me seem suspicious doesn’t it? I would say you’re just as suspicious though! I’m guessing you’re what? Two? Three years old? I’m pretty sure you’re not a Rejmar, a Yoblin or even a Rizzie either. Yet, here you are speaking like an adult.”
Rejmar are this world’s equivalent of dwarves and Rizzies are basically fairies. Yoblins are, as I have mentioned, the imps.
“I’m not the one going to random places to play my guitar,” I pointed out. “So, what are you doing here, really?”
He grinned, opening up the guitar case he had left on the ground to store his instrument.
“I’m just here to look around, really. Do you know what this place is?”
“The Dragon Sanctuary,” I answered.
“That’s right, the place of dragons. I thought there would be other Off-Wolders around here and even if there wasn’t, I didn’t mind taking a look around here. Who would pass up the chance to see a real dragon, right?”
I shrugged, for the past few years I’ve been here, I have yet to even see a single dragon around this place and I’m not sure why.
“In that case, I can tell you that there’s barely any dragons here, at least in this area. You’re better off going northwards. But why did you even want to find other Off-Worlders anyway? You seem plenty strong on your own.”
His smile widened slightly, “Is there anything wrong in trying to find other Off-Worlders?”
I shrugged, “I don’t suppose so… What are you going to do now? And before you ask, no, I’m not going with you.”
He laughed, “Oh don’t worry, I think if anyone else were to see me with you, I would seem like a lolicon or a kidnapper! No, I’ve other things to do.”
“Like?”
“Like killing you.”
An arrow was shot directly at my face.
