Chapter 700: Intermission- Mother’s Daily Life
The Matriarch of the Nilm Family. The Madam. The shadow behind the Royal Family. The Dragon Empress. The barren noblewoman.
Mommy.
She has been given many names and titles throughout her life but the head of the Nilm Family finds that she preferred the last one the most.
Naturally, there was only one person in the entire World that was allowed to address her as such and that person was currently away on a solo training journey in a Dungeon.
As much as the Nilm Matriarch would like to stay by her beloved child’s side and pamper her all the time, she knew that her child would like to stand on her own two feet on her own.
That was why she had been constantly holding herself back from pampering her too much and simply watched her from a distance.
Even the act of watching her little one was something she felt satisfied with and she did not require more than that. At least, for the moment.
She was sure that once her little one had satisfied her curiosity in exploring the World that she had found herself in, she would undoubtedly return to her nest and thus, return back to her Mommy’s embrace.
But now, her little one was still in her exploring phase so she would just watch over her from the side and enjoy pampering her from time to time.
Thus, while her little one was away in that Dungeon, the Nilm Matriarch has found herself brooding over the absence of her child once again.
“Ma… Madam? Your… Your tea.”
Aster’s Mother was brought out of her thoughts when a voice came from the side.
She turned away from the picture that she was holding where Aster was completely absorbed in eating the cake in front of her and did not even realise she had her picture taken using a recording crystal.
The Nilm Matriarch smiled slightly at the maid who had brought her the tea, “Thank you, Felicia. You can just leave it there~”
The Fox maid bowed and did as she was told, leaving the cup of tea on the study desk that the Matriarch was currently occupying.
The maid then quickly left the room, allowing the Nilm Matriarch to return to her work while admiring the picture of her beloved child from time to time.
She looked down at the documents laid out in front of her, most of them detailing about the family’s expenses, the reports from the different branches and also reports on the servants that have infiltrated into various organisations she had deemed to be problematic and a threat to her family or her little one.
She then proceeded to sign off on a few assassination orders for the ones that she deemed too troublesome to be left alive before turning her attention back to another picture on the table.
This one was taken during one of Aster’s tea times where she was enjoying herself nibbling on some cookies.
The face of pure bliss on her beloved child’s face made the Mother feel all tingly inside.
Of course, she could not wait to see her beloved child again when she returns from the Dungeon after the Matriarch had intentionally sent her away to prepare for the surprise party.
Her little one was already moving up to her second year in school, something that she felt was worth celebrating as it meant the school and the people in it would be graced with her presence once again for another year. If this was not worth celebrating over, then nothing else was and no one would be able to tell her otherwise.
Then again, no one was objecting to it either and everyone was happy to jump on the wagon to organise this surprise party for Aster.
The Nilm Matriarch couldn’t help but let out a soft giggle when she remembered about the girls surrounding her little one.
She had no complaints about them of course, since they all truly loved her child like they should. If any of them did not have genuine feelings for Aster, the Nilm Matriarch would have already found a way to get rid of them.
Some might say that Emilia was one such person but the Mother knew the Nekomata was merely trying to hide her affections behind a facade. She estimates that it might still take a while for that wall the merchant had placed around her to be broken down but Aster would definitely be the one to do it.
The Mother giggled again when she remembered how the Nekomata was acting these last few days while Aster was not around.
She might be a Nekomata but she could see that she was acting almost like a lost puppy with how she was behaving. It got to the point that she had chosen to start butting heads with Katsuki because the personal maid of her little one was someone she felt was the closest to her child.
The Matriarch recognised that Emilia was looking to secure her position as part of her little one’s group so she allowed it to happen.
She placed the picture back down and returned to her work, taking a moment to sip the tea that had been made for her.
It was definitely not on par with the tea that Mary would make, but it was similar enough that she did not have complaints about drinking it anyway.
The next few documents she had to sift through were reports from King Justinia herself. In them were several notes and reports about the movements of the nobles and the economic situation while asking the Matriarch for some advice.
The Mother let out a soft sigh while relaxed in her seat, wondering when the little King would finally learn to stand on her own before she proceeded to write a detailed letter in response to the report. Once she was satisfied with it, she carefully sealed the letter in an envelope to be sent later.
When she laid her eyes on the next set of reports however, the Matriarch immediately sat up straight and gave her full attention to reading them.
In those reports were Mary’s notes and accounts on what her child was experiencing and doing inside the Dungeon.
This was one of the reasons why the Nilm Matriarch would send Mary to watch over her little one. Not only would she be sure that the Trasif maid would be able to protect her child from any threat she might face, but the Head Maid was also very meticulous in reporting about her little one.
Any other maid that she sends to watch over her child would be too distracted to report on her properly, the only exception perhaps being Katsuki.
But even then, Katsuki would not report everything back to the Matrairch either as she would be unwilling to report the more intimate encounters to her.
The reports that she was holding now even described how her dearest, cutest child had intercourse with one of her own summons and then made a succubus submit to her as well.
The proud Mother even let out a giggle when she read about it before turning the page.
That was when her smile disappeared when she read the next part.
Mary had reported about the demoness that had taken over the Dungeon and had been intending to capture her child to keep as her pet.
That was not even the part that caused the change in the Nilm Matriarch’s expression.
The Trasif had then reported that one of the succubi that Aster had met earlier turned out to be the Goddess Hiandoca herself who had been masquerading as a succubi the entire time.
It then went into detail on how Aster had made a deal with the Goddess and was now engage in a twenty four hour long sexual intercourse with her and Mary was sure the Goddess knew Mary was there and was intentionally allowing her to watch and report all of this back to the Nilm Matriarch.
The Mother let out a deep sigh, feeling a little annoyed that such a thing happened when she was not there.
Naturally, she would not have stood against the Goddess herself and she had no problems with said Goddess trying to fornicate with her child. She knew exactly how desirable her little one was to the divines up above ever since she had gotten their attention.
The issue she had was that she knew how detached they were to the mortal’s way of thinking which may lead to problems if no one was there to point it out to them.
Had it been left up to the Goddess, she might have seen nothing wrong with taking Aster away and just making love with her for the next few hundred years or so.
While the Nilm Matriarch was grateful for being granted the miracle of being able to bear Aster as her beloved child, she would not step aside and allow these Gods to do whatever they wanted with her.
But at least her little one had made a deal with the goddess that included a time limit, otherwise she might have just gone there to stop them herself.
She let out another sigh and placed the report aside, opting to spend the rest of the day just admiring the pictures of her little one instead.
That report alone already sucked her motivation for doing any other work dry and she needed to recuperate.
She then picked up another picture where Aster was absorbed in eating several cakes.
Mmhmm, her child was definitely the cutest.
