Chapter 712: Here's Some Bones, Emilia
“What are you doing there?”
I turned my head to the side to see Emilia looking at me with a raised eyebrow.
Right now I was lying face down on a couch in one of our living rooms after I came back from school.
I just felt so mentally drained after dealing with all my classmates trying to get me to accept them as my ‘disciples’ that I immediately came here to crash after getting home.
At least Katsuki helped keep me from falling asleep by giving me a cookie but we were going to have dinner soon so I couldn’t eat too much before that.
But I had used that burst of energy to prepare some stuff before asking Katsuki to call Emilia to meet me here.
So right now I’m feeling a bit drained which was why I looked like this at the moment.
I looked up at the Nekomata, “I’m just resting…”
“Long day?” She asked.
“Long day,” I confirmed.
“You called for me?”
I nodded at her before shifting slightly to point a finger at the side, “Got some things that you might be interested in… Be careful with them though…”
She turned towards where I was pointing to see a pile of plates stacked on top of each other beside my Pack of Folding. It was a rather sizable pile too.
“What are those?”
“Do you know what a Pack of Folding is?”
“I know that. I’m asking what they are supposed to be without the bag’s enchantment?”
“Why don’t you take one and find out?”
She went over to the plates while I noticed Katsuki had returned while carrying what looked like some kind of table.
I wondered what she was going to do when she placed the table right beside me.
Then, without any indication she was planning to do it at all, she suddenly lifted me up and transferred me over to the table which I belatedly realised was a massage table.
Oh… So that was what she was planning. Ehehehe~ You spoil me too much, Katsuki~
My Inugami maid then rolled up her sleeves and started kneading the muscles on my back, causing me to let out a moan in pleasure.
No, not that kind of pleasure, damn it.
Emilia seemed to already know what was going on behind her since she didn’t turn around to see what happened and merely picked up one of the plates before shaking it.
Almost immediately, the plate started to expand and transformed itself back to its original form, which was a rather large dragon bone.
I was expecting her to question why I was giving her a giant bone when she silently inspected the bone for a moment before she suddenly spun around to face me with wide eyes.
“Boss… Where the hell did you get a dragon bone?!”
I let out another moan as Katsuki rubbed my sore shoulders to relax them before I answered her, “‘A’ dragon bone? What do you think the other plates are? Goblin bones?”
The Nekomata looked at the large pile beside her, slowly realising that each single plate was a part of a dragon before she turned back again.
“Where did you get all these dragon materials from, boss?!”
“Nnghhh… Ahhhh~ I… Ohhhh~ I got them from… Mnnn… A Dungeon. One of the floor bosses was an infant dragon so I used it for training and… Ahhhhh… And that was the result. There’s also parts from a Skeletal Dragon too if I remember correctly…”
I felt there was no need to tell her about the fact that I killed the Infant Crimson Dragon several years ago since it shouldn’t matter right?
Katsuki started working her way down my back and I could feel my body slowly relaxing as she did so.
Oh damn… I didn’t know I needed this so bad…
Emilia started picking up more of the plates and returning them to their original form, realising that not only there were bones but scales, claws, teeth, organs, meat and everything else you could find on a dragon.
“How many dragons did you kill?!”
“A lot… I forgot the number… I did it over a long period of time…Ohhh… And I made sure to strip them all for parts…”
“There’s so many here!! When did you even get all this?!”
Ehh… Fuck it. I guess I should just tell her.
“A few years ago… When I was solo diving into Dungeons…”
“You killed so many dragons by yourself?! No wait… You said you killed infant dragons right? By the Gods! Where was this Dungeon?!”
I shuddered as Katsuki started working on my right arm muscles, “Unnn… Dragon Sanctuary…”
Emilia’s shock drained away in an instant, right before it turned to something I recognised as dread.
“Oh… Oh no… No, no, no… When did you even go to Dragon Sanctuary?”
“Nnngghh… Didn’t I mention this before? I grew up there…”
Emilia dropped the dragon bone in her arms at the same time that her jaw dropped upon hearing my words.
She blinked at me for at least a few seconds before looking around the room we were standing in for a good long minute, as though she was trying to remember where she was.
“Ah… I didn’t spend my childhood here,” I explained, just as Katsuki moved over to my other arm to start massaging it. “I didn’t even know about my family background until I was a few years old. Mother raised me in a literal cottage in the mountains there. Which actually brings up a… Ohhh, that’s nice, Katsuki… Ahem… I was thinking about returning there again with you girls on the next school break.”
Emilia raised her hands, “Wait, wait, wait. Back up a little boss… I’m still trying to come to terms that you even went to the Dragon Sanctuary… Now I learned that you lived there?!”
“Unnggh… Is that a problem? What’s wrong?”
“That’s Dragon Sanctuary we’re talking about! It’s called by that name for a reason!! If a dragon was to be sighted overhead this city, every single member of the Guild, the Royal Guards, the entire military force and maybe even neighbouring city defences would be called up in preparation to fight against such a monster!”
Ok… I can see that happening since dragons could be very destructive if they want to. If that Skeletal Dragon that I had been fighting were to be unleashed on the city, it could probably bring down at least a quarter of the city before it’s taken down.
Then again, I suppose if Sebastian and Mary were to respond immediately to the threat, the dragon would be destroyed before it could do anything.
But if it was that Hell Dragon though… Pretty sure we’d all be fucked then.
“Ok… What’s your point though?” I asked.
She looked at me like I had asked her whether she wanted some Creas.
Emilia slowly set the rest of the plates she had been holding aside to face me straight on.
“Boss… Weren’t there a whole ton of dragons in Dragon Sanctuary?”
“Err… Not really? At least while I was there, I didn’t really see a lot of wild dragons roaming around… Oh wait! Yeah I did! But only when I was out flying with Mother though. There weren’t any near where we were staying.”
Emilia blinked at me again, “There… Weren’t any dragons where you were staying?”
“Mmhmm… Ohhhhh, that’s niceeeeee…” I moaned, feeling Katsuki start to massage my sore feet. “Mother has a cottage there up on this cliff I think… No dragons went there.”
Emilia then relaxed, “Oh. Ok, ok. I get it now. You had me going for a while there, boss. You were most likely living on one of the islands off the coast near Dragon Sanctuary but not on the main island itself. That makes a lot more sense.”
Hmm? I’m pretty sure I was on the main island though? I think Mother even confirmed that to me before?
But now I’m not that sure since it was so long ago and perhaps I was simply mistaken?
I shrugged, “I dunno… Maybe? I know Odeta also went there before though, which was how I first met her. They were hunting a wyvern for a client or something and ended up being ambushed by more than one of them.”
Emilia nodded, “Sounds like what you’d expect from that place. I’ve sailed past that place before and we couldn’t even get close to it because of all the dragons flying around over there. If I knew there was a Dungeon with an infant dragon as a floor boss, I would have definitely laid claim to it as soon as I could!”
“Why? What’s so special about that?”
“Boss… Being able to come across an infant dragon is exceedingly rare! An infant dragon would always be protected by its parents so in order to get one, you’d need to fight off its parents before you can even get their parts! And their parts are super valuable to collectors, alchemists, researchers and every single person who knows the value of dragons!
With this pile of dragon parts you have over here… Oh gods… Oh gods… Oh by the gods…”
She suddenly stopped talking and now she seemed to be going into a panic attack as she beheld the pile of dragon materials beside her again.
Err… Are you ok over there, Emilia?
