Chapter 401 The Millions on Sight
Chapter 401 – The Millions on Sight.
‘Oil of Dreams… The third ingredient for Dream Potion… I need that!’ Isaac’s eyes showed a hint of red.
The receptionist looked at him with a raised eyebrow. She had encountered people like Isaac before. Whenever the auction comes around, they can never afford to bid for something they really want.
“Thanks…” Isaac returned the book to the receptionist before leaving.
Isaac trekked in the streets, scratching his hair as his feet moved, trying to brainstorm a way to double his money in ten hours.
With only 500k, he seriously doubted that he could buy something as valuable as an item from another realm.
Particularly if there were people who knew how important Oil of Dreams was. Perhaps the price might even go as high as 10 million!
Isaac knew the money was impossible to gather, but he believed no one should be aware of its importance. After all, no one came after him to try to steal the Resin of Dreams.
His goal was to obtain a million coins, at least. That was much harder than everything he had done so far. He can’t grow White Coins on trees.
The chances of him earning more than 100k are slim regardless of whether he goes on a rampage and kills all the monsters in 10 hours.
Isaac’s feet halted, and his eyes fixed on a group of gangster-looking players seated around a table in front of the cafe.
They appeared to be quite well off, as their outfits looked incredibly expensive.
‘Steal… Damn, should I?’ Isaac never considered stealing from other players. Especially now that the White Coins are as valuable as real money.
Unlike others who lose all sense of humanity and do everything to earn white coins, Isaac never considered doing this.
However, this time, the ingredient he needed was only a few steps away, and who knows, another one might not be found for months.
Luna didn’t have that much time. She was constantly battling the Winter Illness, which wreaked havoc in her heart and threatened to kill her.
One of the cafe’s doors opened, and a woman with a tray of coffee cups walked toward the group of gangsters, a look of apprehension on her face.
After giving everyone their cups, she turned around to leave. Then, she flinched in fear as a hand touched her buttocks.
“Hahahaha!!” Smirking, the gangsters laughed. The fear already filled her as she skittered back into the cafe.
Then, a timid player appeared from an alleyway and halted in front of the gangsters, who looked at him with disdain.
The timid-looking player handed a pouch full of white coins to another player who seemed to be their boss.
“Hmm…” Stephen, the boss of the gang, counted the coins before waving his hand and saying, “Now, fuck off!”
This timid player bowed three times before running off with his tail tucked between his legs.
During the confrontation, Isaac sneakily listened, and his lip curved slightly upward, “Yeah… I am so gonna steal from them.”
After looking around the street for a moment, he walked out without letting the gangsters see him. Isaac made his way to a clothing store and began looking for clothes.
While there, he purchased a mask for 100k. Despite its high price, it had practical applications.
When the mask was worn, the player tag disappeared. In addition, the mask stuck deeply into his skin, and other players could not remove it.
After Isaac slipped the mask on, it immediately stuck to his face. White was the predominant color of the mask, with two horns poking through the forehead.
His gray eyes were visible through two holes in the mask, and the teeth were painted in such a way that they appeared sharp and deadly.
His overall appearance, with the mask, was strong and dangerous.
When he caught the attention of the street players, they flinched and scurried away.
Isaac smiled under his mask, and shortly afterward, Stephen and his gang of well-dressed gangsters left the cafe.
While still hiding in the crowd, Isaac followed shortly after. The camouflage outfit he was wearing now was black, making it hard to spot him without specially looking for him.
Stephen and his gangsters arrived in the slums shortly thereafter. They continued to wander through the streets in a casual manner. The men soon found themselves in front of a crumbling building whose walls barely remained intact.
It appeared that the walls had been burnt, and the floor was riddled with holes.
In the back room, a man dressed in all black manned a door that led to the basement.
As Stephen approached, he nodded and opened the door.
After they left, Isaac stepped into the broken-down building and stood by the doorway. The black-clad guard was barely visible to him.
Isaac threw a small rock into the corner of the room. Hearing the commotion, the guard produced an enormous hammer from his bag.
In his careful approach to the noise, he didn’t take a look at the doorway as he walked past.
Then, Isaac moved and struck the guard in the head.
“UGH!” The guard fell to the floor with his HP slowly dwindling, “Wh—”
Isaac already had his gun loaded and rested its barrel on the guard’s nape before he was able to scream.
Bam! Bam!
He then fired Icy Shots at the guard, and soon the whole body of the guard was encased in ice. The guard’s health rapidly declined, and he died shortly thereafter.
Isaac walked quickly through the creaking floors to get to the basement.
Meanwhile, the rest of the gangsters took care of their own business in different parts of the basement.
As soon as Stephen saw the safe, he opened it. Throughout it, there were many leather pouches filled with White Coins.
After storing another pouch inside the safe, he was about to close it. However, a small rock flew across the room and landed on a blue crystal hanging from the ceiling.
Instantly, the basement went completely dark.
“Eh, what the fuck?!” Stephen asked, staring into the blackness. His friends were shouting frantically, but none of them understood what was going on.
One of the gangsters then brought Stephen a lantern that was only well-lit enough for him to see.
Stephen turned around in dismay. Before closing the safe’s door, he thought that he saw something, but then light flooded the safe.
The safe was empty!
There were hundreds of pouches missing. Not a single White Coin remained!
“WHAT?!”
“WE HAVE BEEN ROBBED!”
“WAS IT FUCKING YOU?!” Stephen screamed at the man who held the lantern.
“N-No!” The man clutched the lantern with terror in his voice.
“LIAR!”
