Chapter 430 The Bookstore
Chapter 430 The Bookstore
“Wow!” Luna skittered inside with her face radiating with excitement. Her crystal blue eyes moved around as her vision was clouded with bookshelves and books.
In an attempt to satisfy her curiosity, she grabbed a few books from the nearby bookshelf and soon realized that she knew the titles and authors.
“I have read these!” Luna leafed through the pages and exclaimed. She wanted to make sure whether the books were truly the same, and they indeed were!
Isaac warmly smiled and retrieved one of the books out of the shelves. Then, he skimmed through the pages and said, “They are copied from my real-life book collection.”
“I see!” Luna nodded with understanding, and she placed the books back on the shelves. Then, she browsed past the rows of books, absorbing all the information contained in their covers.
After reaching the far end, where the fantasy books were, her feet came to an instant halt. There was one book that she wasn’t aware of. The cover was rather mystifying, and the name and author were completely unknown.
At first, her mind didn’t register the author’s name, but then she looked deeper, and her mouth made an “O” shape.
The author’s name was “Wraith,” and the book cover showed a snow-filled background with a warmly-clothed young man holding his rifle with a deep-looking bag strapped on his back.
“I-I-I this yours?!” She carefully caressed the book’s cover and slowly retrieved it from the shelf.
Isaac saw the cover and sheepily smiled, “Yeah… I don’t think it’s good, but at least I tried.”
“Hehe, I will read this!” Luna hugged the book tightly and went to the leather-covered couch to get seated. After that, she made herself comfortable and opened the first page.
Isaac wryly smiled and took one step forth, about to walk toward the same couch. However, then the store’s door opened, and a whiff of cold air spread across the first floor.
His face deadpanned, and without turning his head, he said, “Khione, what a pleasant surprise.” While saying so, his lips twitched.
“You don’t act like it.” Khione’s cold voice echoed in his ears. She entered the store and came to an instant halt after seeing her spot being taken by an adorable-looking girl.
Luna’s mouth was again “O” shaped as her eyes reflected Khione’s beautiful face, “Khione-chan!”
Khione’s eyebrow twitched after getting called by her hated nickname, ‘Hecate’s Legacy Carrier…’
“Why are you here?” Luna asked, and then her eyes sparkled as she raised her index finger, “Are you perhaps my Isaac’s friend?!” Khione’s brow jumped, and she looked between Isaac and Luna. She immediately understood.
“Hmm…” She reached for the nearest book and ambled toward the exit.
As the doorknob was twisted and the door opened, a voice came behind her, “Leaving so soon?”
Khione took a side-glanced at Isaac and snorted, “Hmph. Stay here to witness you two flirting? I would rather go make a visit to Uncle Hades’ home.”
Bam!
The door slammed shut, and the cold air left alongside the Snow Goddess.
“Wait… She didn’t pay!” Isaac rushed outside but saw that the Snow Goddess had disappeared. There was still a lingering feeling of cold airborne, but Khione was gone.
“She… Sigh.” Isaac returned indoors and closed the door.
The time passed, and the sky above Priesthood began turning darker. The grayish sky became pitch black, and stars shone brightly as the crescent-shaped moon made its appearance.
“Yawn…” Luna’s tiny mouth opened slightly, and a long tiring yawn was released. She rubbed her eyes and returned the book back to the shelves.
“The book was actually good.” She replied with a sheepish smile, returned to the couch, and cuddled next to Isaac.
“Next one will be better,” Isaac said with certainty while flipping through the book.
“Hey… Isaac…” Luna’s voice turned timid as she trailed her finger across Isaac’s stomach.
“Yes?” Isaac replied while his gaze still stuck on the book’s pages.
“Do you know about… Bird and bees?” Luna immediately hid her face with ears turning red, and a deep red blush flared across her cheeks.
“Bird and bees?” Isaac stopped reading and frowned at first. He wondered why she talked about birds and bees since they weren’t that important to residents of Winterland.
However, after he saw heated cheeks of Luna, he immediately realized what she meant, and his eyes immediately turned saucers with shock rippling through his pupils.
“L-Luna…”
“Heh, it’s nothing!” Luna sat up while tidying her messy hair and tried to calm down her pounding heart, “I-It’s just that… My mom talked about it a few days ago, and I have been thinking about…”
“Thinking what?” Isaac asked while his body instinctively leaned closer. As he got closer, the sweet scent of her hair entered his nose.
“A-Ah… Nothing!” Luna jumped to his feet, and like a robot, she moved toward the door. It looked like her joints were glued together.
Ba-Dump! Ba-Dump! Ba-Dump!
She touched her chest with the palm of her right hand. The pounding heart sent ripples through her entire body. She felt weird and confused.
“Where are you going?” Isaac asked and closed the book while standing up. After pocketing his hand, he felt the brass key moving beneath his fingers.
“T-To home!” Luna forced a smile and placed her hand on the doorknob. Then, she twisted it, but the door didn’t open.
Isaac pulled out the key and clanked it against his other finger, “The door is closed… But that’s not the main thing. Do you even have a house here?”
“Ah…” Luna’s cheeks heated up as she realized that she wasn’t in Stronglord anymore. She didn’t have a place to go and forgot about the whole matter!
“You can use my bed as a spawn spot,” Isaac said gently and put the key back in his front pocket. Then, Luna shyly turned around, her face bright red, and if she was a robot, then her ears would have let out puffs of smoke as her gears malfunctioned.
Isaac led the way to the second floor, climbed the carpeted stairs, and went straight to his bedroom. In there, Luna placed her spawn spot on Isaac’s bed, moved the strands of her hair over her ear, and said.
“S-S-See you tomorrow.” Luna tip-toed and gave a quick peck on Isaac’s cheek. Her soft and pinkish lips left a mark of lipstick on his cheek. Then, her body disappeared, with her lips showing one last smile.
