Chapter 2196: An End of Tale
Tamila breathed out raggedly, his chest heaving up and down. His pupils contracted in fear, his hands were trembling as sweat flooded his face and body.
He finally understood why the Executive Administrator was feared. He finally experienced how scary an Executive Administrator was. The worst part was that this was the newest Executive Administrator, someone who had just entered the God Realm, yet this man was already this strong, overwhelming the Phantom Rover.
They planned to take revenge because their artifact was destroyed. The plan was to defeat the Executive Administrator and ask for compensation. They wanted the same flying ship.
He had heard that the Administrator had the authority to see the list of available items in the System and the location to find them. They wanted a new artifact to replace their beloved Phantom Shade, the name of their destroyed ship.
That was the plan, but it didn’t go as planned. A single man fought them, more than thirty God Ranks, and they were crushed.
He was standing right in front of a massive dragon. It was not just any dragon, but an eight-headed dragon. More than thirty God Ranks fought this dragon, and they were being overwhelmed one-sidedly.
This fight reminded him of the old days, when they were still doing dungeon raids. The feeling of facing the last boss, who usually had an overwhelming power. The feeling and the situation were almost exactly the same when they fought an extremely strong boss.
Their attacks didn’t work, and a single attack from the eight-headed dragon killed their friends. This was exactly the same situation, but this was not a dungeon raid. This was the power of a single person, something that could be obtained through the System.
’Don’t give up! We can kill it!’
That was what he wanted to say to encourage his remaining friends, but the words never came out of his mouth as he witnessed one of his friends being pulled into the shadows. His friend came out of the shadows three seconds later, but without a head.
More than thirty of the Phantom Rover’s crew were on board, but only sixteen people remained. The fear slowly gripped his heart as the thought that it was impossible to kill the dragon crossed his mind.
However, Tamila was an experienced player with rich experience. He knew it well that once he thought the dragon was impossible to beat, the thoughts would come true. Their mind would give up on finding a way to kill the dragon once they thought that way. This was why he quickly got rid of the thoughts.
He had a strong will and managed to shake it off, but not with his friends. His three friends screamed in fear as they turned their backs on the dragon.
’Don’t run! We can kill this thing!’
That was what he was about to say. But once more, the words never left his mouth. The reason was that he saw three of them were killed right away, the moment their backs were exposed.
A portal was created right behind, and as dark-red swords shot toward them, which was then followed by dark lighting that shot them down. The dragon did it without moving.
The thought crept back to his mind, the thought that it was impossible for them to kill the dragon. The fear gripped him tighter, but then he sensed something dangerous coming from below. He leaped into the air, but the sense of danger got even stronger.
That was when he saw the ground where he stood had melted and turned into black magma. That was when a pillar of black fire shot up, engulfing him in fire.
Tamila cast a barrier around himself, but that barrier was melting, and the black fire reached him. He screamed as the fire burned through his skin. It was more painful than just getting burned with normal fire.
He quickly got away from the pillar of fire, but the damage was done. His flesh was melting, and the searing pain assaulted him. But he was too focused on his pain and getting away from the fire that he momentarily distracted.
He forgot that the actual enemy was not the fire, but the one who set the fire. The moment he came out, he was met with a massive dragon claw. He tried to use the same defensive skill, but the defensive barrier broke apart the moment the claw hit it.
The massive claw hit his chest and sent him down to the ground. He crashed on his back and coughed up blood. The scalding pain was all over his body, his bones broke apart with the crash, and he suffered internal injury. He felt like his organs ruptured.
Blood spurted out from his mouth, and he just realized that his blood had turned dark. That was when he realized that he was poisoned. He didn’t feel it at first, but he confirmed it now. That explained why his regeneration didn’t work and didn’t heal his burning skin. His body was fighting the poison inside his body, and his body was collapsing with that last hit.
His breathing remained ragged, his vision turned blurry, and he could no longer move his body. That was when he realized what was happening. He was dying. He was right in front of the death door.
If yesterday someone told him that he would die, he would laugh it off, even smack that person’s head. He had Phantom Shade. Even if they met someone strong, they could always escape. That was how the Phantom Rover survived to this day.
“Sur…vive…”
Tamila let out a chuckle, but dark blood came out instead. Scream resounded in the air, the scream of his friends. He could hear the fighting sound as well, but it stopped in less than a minute.
What followed was the sound of lightning cracking, the sound of fire blazing, and the fierce wind that swept the battlefield. The fight was over, all his friends were dead, and this was the end of the Phantom Rover.
The Executive Administrator ended the Phantom rover in less than fifteen minutes. Something he had built for the entirety of his life was gone in less than fifteen minutes.
Tamila no longer felt fear. The fear was replaced with regret. He decided to leave the moment he encountered Tang Shaoyang, but they decided to fight Tang Shaoyang once their ship was destroyed. If they had decided to flee, they all might still be alive.
“I have an expectation since you came to Redmond, but this is disappointing.”
He heard an unfamiliar voice, and then he saw the eight-headed dragon above him. The eight heads were looking at him. He only met the dragon six times, and this was the sixth time. He should not be able to read the dragon through their expression, but he somehow could feel the disappointment from five out of the eight heads.
’Redmond? So our client’s name is Redmond, but this is the first time I heard about that name.’
“Ah, I see. You are not with him, and it seems you don’t know your client’s identity. I guess that makes sense. Otherwise, you will not follow him willingly since you are still human.”
Tamila tried to understand what the Executive Administrator said. What did the client have to do with being a human? Did that mean their client was not a human? A beastmen? A demon?
“You are curious… I guess I can satisfy your curiosity. Take this as a payment for bringing good sacrificial materials.”
He could not understand a single thing that the dragon said.
“Redmond is known as the Corrupted Immortal Emperor. That should ring a bell, no?”
Tamila’s eyes widened in shock when he heard the name. Of course, he knew who the Corrupted Immortal Emperor was. One of the emperors from the Void Cult.
That was when he realized that the Phantom Rover was doomed the moment he accepted the commission. Even if they somehow escaped from the Executive Administrator, the Administrator would start hunting them because they cooperated with Redmond.
Their flying ship was the Phantom Rover’s identity. They would be discovered right away, and the Administrator would hunt them because they worked together with the Void Cult.
The Administrator didn’t bother because they caused chaos and ruckus in the God Realm. But it would be different if they were involved with the Void Cult. They would be hunted by the Administrator.
If that happened, they only had two choices. First, captured and interrogated by the Administrator. They would be punished even if they were not part of the Void Cult. The worst, they would be executed for interfering with the Executive Administrator’s job.
Second, they could keep their lives by joining the Void Cult. That was an option, but the moment they joined the Void Cult. The Phantom Rover ceased to exist. Regardless of what happened, it was the end of the Phantom Rover the moment he accepted the commission.
It made sense now why the client could offer them something so precious. The client was the notorious Void Cult. This was the end of the Phantom Rover’s tale. A tragic end caused by their own greed.
’I should have rejected the offer when he mentioned the potential of clashing with the Executive Administrator…’
