Chapter 268: Planet Core.
Elliot didn’t wait to hear his response and, with hurried footsteps, walked to another bookshelf, making others understand that he didn’t have any relation with the space pirate whatsoever. Karim remained standing at his place, looked around, and saw many gazes on him. The moment the agents saw him looking at them, they turned their eyes towards the book in their hands and started acting like they were reading it.
“I guess he realized that I came to him with ill intent and decided to stay away from me. But no worries. Just who am I? I’m the most incredible space pirate there is in this realm. You can walk away from me in this place, but outside here, it’s my world. Hehe, once he gets out, I will loot him of his treasures.” Throwing out those words with a shrill and evil laugh, Karim walked out of the second floor of the library. Even though Karim said that in a shallow voice, every spy heard it; they were using a sound enhancer of the highest quality, after all. Karim’s words confirmed that Elliot was not his friend but merely a rich person who got unluckily targeted by the infamous space pirate with a bounty of a billion spirit points on his head.
The spirit point was a currency used everywhere because the soul race was the center of many civilizations.
The soul race didn’t have any beef with Karim, though.
“There are too many techniques,” Elliot said after glancing at the bookshelf that had thousands of techniques in it. “Which one is the best?”
This bookshelf only contained combat techniques. Elliot wanted to learn the strongest one, and he started searching for it. Each of the books had a pamphlet that described what it does and so on. There were a million of them. The bookshelf was so huge that even a thousand Elliot could roam inside of it.
“I don’t have much time left.”
A lot of time had passed since he started searching for the most overwhelmingly powerful technique. He believed that he would be able to learn it. After all, memorization wasn’t a problem with him. Not to mention, he had multiple channels that could store energy, and he also had high-quality supernatural cells. He qualified for a lot of things!
“How about you take this once?” Suddenly, a man with green hair and blue eyes appeared in front of him and extended a book with eyes in the middle. The book was inky, black, looking like something extremely nefarious. One look at the book, and Elliot was awed by the information he received. One look at the person, and Elliot felt that there was a high chance that he was getting played.
After all, the person was none other than Karim, who had disguised himself.
“Umm, who are you, and what is this book about? Can you tell me?” Elliot could lie with a straight face. It was a skill he cultivated growing up.
His acting was on point. Karim believed that he hadn’t recognized him. He looked two heads shorter than before. His attire was also different than before. He was wearing a normal hoodie and shorts.
“Who am I is not important. Just know that I want the best for you.” Karim said, “This book contains the strongest combat technique ever created. It is not of offensive, defensive, or auxiliary nature, but all of them combined. Its name is energy radiation, a demonic-grade book, the strongest and most destructive book in the library. It has four levels, entry-level, at which you would be able to crush others to death; intermediate-level, at which you would be able to shatter others into as many shards as you like; special-level, at which you can turn anything you find displeasing into dust; demonic-level, there’s nothing about it as no one managed to master this technique to such a level.”
He was acting like a kind elder but looked too young to be one. Not to mention there was this offensive smile on his face that made Elliot feel like he wanted him to get this book so that he would later rob him of it.
“Is there no downside to it?” Elliot asked with a smile.
Whatever he was feeling, there was no need to show it to Karim.
“There are a few downsides. The first is that you can’t take it outside the library. The other is that it is incredibly pricey, a hundred million spirit points. The last is that it is tough to memorize it.”
The first two downsides were enough for anyone not to take it.
Why?
A person could only stay in the library for three days a year!
Of course, Elliot had the unique token in his hand, and that’s why he managed to stay here for more than three days.
Still, the moment the effect of the token ends, he needs to get out or else he will get forcefully taken out. That meant that he only had less than a week to learn it.
“Why?”
Why is it hard to memorize?
Why can’t a person take it out of the library?
Elliot asked these questions, knowing full well that the space pirate would answer him.
He knew that the space pirate wanted to get close to him so that he can swindle him at an opportune time.
As he wanted to get close to him, he would help him unconditionally.
“The book is made from a rare material, which releases invisible and unharmful energy fluctuations every day. Many civilizations have devices that can track it down, and each of them is willing to fight for it. Even a tiny piece of this material can upgrade the quality of war machines, spaceships, and last but not least, humanoid walking vehicles! A fist-sized planet core is enough to turn an S-rank mecha into SSS-rank. And even an SSS-rank war machine can reach unprecedented height using it. Do you understand?”
“I guess?” Elliot had never heard of Mecha! He wasn’t a fan of sci-fi!
Karim read him like an open book and gave him a more appropriate example. “Consider you have a rail gun that can destroy a mountain. Now with a first-sized planet orb added into it, the same rail gun would gain the ability to destroy a planet literally!”
That was freaking fierce.
Planet-core, an excellent material it was!
