Chapter 322: Berserk Freya
Chapter 322: Berserk Freya
[You’ve killed 42 Assassin Spiders.]
[You’ve killed ten flesh-eating spiders.]
[Task 4: 10/50 Flesh-Eating Spiders Killed!]
Elliot went through the notification in a split second and realized that although the spiders looked like they belonged to the same family as they looked alike, they had the same mother but different fathers.
The whore of a spider, the spider queen, was their mother, but one of their fathers belonged to the flesh-eating spider race, and the other belonged to the assassin spider race.
He also was greedy about killing all the spiders as both of them had dark hearts, one of the five ingredients he needed to make the cell evolution elixir.
Moreover, the second ingredient was the venom of the assassin spiders.
Two out of the five ingredients of the high-quality recipe were right in front of him, making him realize that he had entered a treasure trove.
He looked at them with wide excited eyes, and his gaze made the thousands of spiders feel violated. They felt as if he had stripped them naked of their shells and peered at the innermost parts of their body. Elliot’s single gaze creeped them out so much that the thousands of spiders stopped in their tracks for a moment!
When Freya saw many spiders crawling in her direction suddenly coming to a stop, she, who hated spiders, felt as if she was experiencing the worst time of her life all over again.
She hated crawly things because when she was a child, naughty children, who hated and bullied her because she was a dark elf but still had the guts to live with the high elves, had locked her up in a small room full of insects. Frey had to stay there and feel the insects crawling all over, biting and tasting her flesh for hours before her guardian rescued her. Thus, insects and crawling things had become her worst nightmare, and although she had managed to suppress it for many years and safely mingle with the spider queen and her hideous forces, her fear still got the better of her today.
The many spiders crawling, stopping, and then moving towards her again evoked her deepest fear, and without any reason or rhyme, she lashed out fiercely.
“Fire Hell!”
As she chanted the name of her spell, many spheres of fire appeared above the thousands of insects, manifesting out of thin air. And then, as she raised her hands for a brief moment before bringing them down, the several dozens of sun-like spheres shot down the air like shooting stars and crashed on the spiders.
Bomb! An ear-piercing explosion sounded as the many fire sphere exploded brilliantly to create a fiery lake that submerged numerous spiders, frying them alive, turning the ones who bore the initial assault of the orange flames into ashes.
Elliot saw the world in front of him changing into a lake of fire, and his eyes twitched as most of his precious resources vanished.
He would have definitely stopped Freya because it was such a big waste to lose so many resources for creating the cell evolution elixir, but he failed to do. The only reason he was unable to do so was that she attacked without giving him any time to react.
“Die! Die! Die!” Even though Freya had run out of demonic energy, she didn’t stop and kept on chanting the name of her spell along with the word Die. As they were forced by her will and hypnotized by her melodic chants, Freya’s supernatural cells consumed her life force to create more spheres of hellfire and dropped them down at the spiders.
She aged rapidly.
“Stop it! You’re killing yourself!”
Elliot shouted so loudly that she snapped out of her crazed state and finally stopped wasting his precious resources. By now, half of her head had turned frosty white.
“Sorry, I lost control,” Freya said in a voice so weak that, hearing it, any man would feel pity for her, Elliot included.
He didn’t blame her any further for many reasons.
First off, he knew that those with demonic energy in their system would sometimes lose control of themselves and only regain somberness and sanity after laying waste to many things and life. That was why the serpentine devils were one of the worst creatures to exist in these times. Freya also had demonic energy in her system, so with a slight push, her going berserk was going to happen, and he believed that the sight of the crawling spiders must have given her that push as girls hated insects.
Secondly, the one thing he didn’t want to do was to get into an argument against his only teammate in this place.
Anyhow, she had calmed down, so everything was now good.
“Let me take care of the rest,” Elliot said to her as he moved her behind him.
“Then, what should I do?” Freya asked while panting.
“Look at yourself in the mirror; you’ve already exhausted yourself to the bone.” Elliot felt disturbed seeing frosty white hair on her head, and he handed her a vitality-increasing pill and said, “Just sit down and relax, recover your ability by drinking this.”
“Thank you for this precious gift, my lord.”
Since he was giving it to her and she needed it too, who was she to decline his kindness? She accepted the pill bottle with a smile.
The pill bottle had fifty pills, and each increased a person’s lifespan by five years.
As she started consuming them, her hair regained its previous glory, and she fastly moved towards full recovery.
Elliot, on the other hand, kept an eye on the entire situation. Most of the remaining enemies were heavily injured by Freya’s outburst, so he killed them quickly and effortlessly.
He was not only focused on killing them, though, as he was also looking out for any hidden danger.
The one thing that hadn’t changed about him, even though he had become so strong, was his level of cautiousness.
