Chapter 224 – Old Reputation Cannot Be Altered But, The Right Attitude Can Be!
"Miss Sofia, how did it go?" Danny asked after Sofia came out of the door. She spent less than an hour inside the shop. Somehow, it felt ominous. And the man assumed that her concern about their uniform might not yet confirm by the tailor.
"Did the tailor refuse your request, young miss?" Derek inquired too.
"No, the old man agreed to embroider the logo of the company," Sofia politely replied.
"Ohh, then how about the layout and design of the logo? Is it finished? As far as I know, they would take time to make a good design. But you only stay for a while inside their shop," Danny mumbled with a slight frown on his forehead.
"I already have the design of the logo. So, we were just chatting for a while," Sofia answered.
The three of them proceed to walk out of the narrow way. Sofia glanced at the vandalized walls on each side silently.
As they arrived on the main highway, the road was already busy. Private owned cars and public buses going from every direction filled the lanes of the street. But their numbers were not enough to summon the heavy traffic in the place.
They were standing on the sidewalk while Sofia was staring at her phone, reading the unread messages from Brent. It was the details of the wedding organizers that she needed to coordinate.
Danny and Derek were silent and looked from the side to side. Their tall figures were domineering. Both men were vigilant as they stood behind Sofia. To the eyes of the other passerby on the pedestrian, they might confuse the two figures as Sofia's bodyguards… or perhaps another way around?
At first, people did not pay much attention as they passed by at their side. Some groups of teens ignored them and continued their way. But soon some older men and women and a group of a family walking along the sidewalk gave them a weird look.
One old woman finally took the courage to walk near Sofia and whispered at her, "Young lady, are they bothering you?"
Sofia was a bit startled and looked up to see the face of the passerby before she smiled at the old woman and noticed that she was staring at the two men behind her. A hind of coldness and disdain can be seen in her face.
"They are working with me, ma'am," Sofia politely replied. Somehow, she made a guess that the old woman was probably aware of the reputation of Danny and Derek.
"AH!" the old woman took a step back and suspiciously eyed Sofia. "Are they forcing you to do something? Tell me, my son is a policeman. I will call him right away," she continued.
"What do you mean? Granny, you cannot just slander us. The young lady is really our employer. She already told you but it seems that you are implying something?" Derek spoke, unable to tolerate the old woman's words.
"Then, if they are not bothering you, I'll go ahead. I am just concerned about your safety. Those people are the thugs in this area," the old woman stated and quickly left without waiting for them to speak.
Sofia looked at her retreating figure until the old woman made a turn on the corner and she vanished.
"Don't mind what she just said. Although the words are insulting, her reaction is justifiable with your past reputation. Old reputations cannot be altered but, the right attitude can be! Instead of sulking, cultivate your temper and reflect for self-improvement," Sofia muttered. She did not mention any name but it was obvious that her words were meant for Derek.
"Yes," Derek softly said.
"Thank you for accompanying me. I will return to the company and will wait for sister Jing to pick me. You can make preparations for our soft opening on Friday and the big event on Saturday," Sofia commanded. They continued to walk on the side road going back to their establishment.
"Miss Sofia, we can also accompany you for the entire day. Anyway, there is not much to do for us right now," Danny suggested.
"I'll be fine. I am not a celebrity that needs a bodyguard," Sofia joked. But then, something within her memory flashed in her thought. It was the memory of her past life. The day when the head security personnel of the Summers Holdings suggested that she take precautions and put a bulletproof glass on her office. At that time, she also similarly refused their suggestion.
Sofia abruptly paused her movement as the memory of her past life continued to play on her thoughts. She lowered her gaze and stared at the asphalt on the ground.
Danny and Derek looked at each other and felt confused by Sofia's sudden action. But, since the young lady halted her steps, they also had to stop walking and maintain standing behind her.
After a few minutes, Sofia nodded her head repeatedly. Then, she turned around to look at them and spoke,
"Sister Jing will accompany me. She is familiar with the coordinator that I will meet. This is for the arrangement of our venue, including the theme and motif of the design. I think I'll be fine. It's better if you take a rest. It will be a physically tiring day ahead of us."
Miss Sofia, rest assured, our stamina is strong. We will not get tired easily," Danny stated.
"I know. Thank you for the suggestion. For sure, the day will come that we will need private bodyguards. But, we have not yet reached the level. You can rest assured too that I will be fine," Sofia insisted while they continued to walk towards their company.
The two men did not argue with her anymore. They silently walked behind her until they reached their company.
Jing Jing was already parking efficiently in front of the building. When she noticed Sofia and the other two men were walking near her, she rolled down the window of her door and waved at them.
"Sister Jing, you are quick to come!" Sofia muttered and hopped inside the car.
"Goodbye, Miss Sofia!" the two men subsequently waved at her and then looked at Jing Jing, "Hello Miss Jing Jing, please take care and drive safely!"
On the driver side, Jing Jing playfully winced after hearing them. She crossed her arms on her chest and allowed a small smirk to appear on her lips.
"Hahaha…. I never imagine that there will be a point in my life where I can hear those words coming from our mouth, guys! Aren't you afraid that your reputation will be ruined by saying those sweet reminders?" Jing Jing joked as she returned the gesture and wave her hand to them too.
