Chapter 491 490 - Turning Point(Part 3)
Chapter 491 490 – Turning Point(Part 3)
Point-of-View: Shiro Blanc———————————————————————————
”I really don’t like this…he’s been in the exact same location this whole time, this has to be trap,” Frowned Cusnai, as we made our way to where the Spectre was at.
”I have to agree, you’d think he’d just attack a few people and then leave, but he’s not moving at all. But we can’t exactly just leave him be, we have to go after him and kill him. Whatever trap he’s set for us, we have no choice but to break through it,” I responded with a grimace.
”I know that, but still, I’m getting a really bad feeling about this,” She replied with a look of concern.
”You know, maybe I should be the only one to go…no offense or anything, but you two might, you know, get in my way,” I remarked sheepishly.
”Ouch, but I guess I can’t exactly dispute that…in that case, we’ll keep a safe distance and back you up, ‘kay?” Replied Minise with a wry smile.
”Guess there’s no choice, it’s not like we can make much of a difference against such a powerful opponent,” Sighed Cusnai in response.
”Make sure you stay out of the range of his teleportation,” I instructed them.
”We can’t do that…we’ll have to be far enough to be out of his line of sight, meaning that we can’t see him either,” Pointed out Minise.
Yeah, that was kinda what I was going for.
”We can at least provide some cover with Elemental Magic, you know,” Added Cusnai firmly, both their expressions making it clear that they wanted to be involved.
”Alright, fine…but if things get hairy, make sure you escape immediately, got it?” I compromised with a sigh.
”Fine, fair enough, I guess,” Grumbled Minise reluctantly.
”I don’t like being treated like a burden, but I’d rather be out of the way than actually be a burden, so fine,” Relented Cusnai as well.
”Let’s appear where he can see us at first, and then once you launch the opening attack, we’ll go hide. He’ll know we’re hiding somewhere, and he’ll be on alert for any incoming attacks from us while he fights you.
That way, we could create some doubt and caution in his head, which might help distract him a bit while you try to kill him, making things easier for you,” Suggested Minise.
”I don’t know about that, it’s a bit risky-…,” I began, not wanting to expose her to any danger.
”Come on, it’s the least we can do. Don’t forget, he’s managed to get away from you twice already, so he knows how you fight. You’ll need every advantage you can get,” Added Cusnai objectively.
”Yeah, what she said!” Nodded Minise in agreement.
”Alright, fine, then…but make sure you go hide immediately, got it?” I gave in reluctantly.
I guess that’s better than nothing, but still not ideal. Well, I suppose I just have to deal with it. And most importantly, I’ll make sure that I kill the Spectre this time.
I can’t afford to fail again, it’s all or nothing this time…I’ll kill him, and once that’s done, there’ll no longer be anything to worry about in this world. All other new Reincarnators have been kept supervised and under control, so once we’re done with this bastard, we’ll finally get back the hard-won peace we’d established.
”He’s just up ahead, less than three hundred meters,” Remarked Cusnai, as she glanced at the watch that was tracking him.
”Keep your guards up, you two…there’s no telling how he’ll respond when we show up, so be on alert,” I instructed, as I unleashed my full power…I’ll attack at full force, I won’t even give him a chance to counter.
There, I see him…he was seated on a chunk of rubble, his back leaning against the wall of a collapsed house.
I wasted no time in teleporting in close and jamming my claws into his eyes, to prevent him from using teleportation to escape. If he turns intangible, I’ll just use Obliteration Magic to-…huh?
This…this isn’t a real corpse. It’s just like the dummy corpse he created last time to get away from me…but his location is indicated right here-…suddenly, a horrified shudder of realization hit me, as I spotted a mosquito in my left peripheral vision suddenly vanish.
”Get away, you two, right now!” I yelled at Minise and Cusnai in alarm.
”Huh? What’re you talking abou-…ugh, I think a bug just flew into my mouth,” Groaned Minise in disgust.
Oh, no…p-please, no…

Point-of-View: Damien Romer

Ah, here they are. It’s finally time to execute my plan. Have to say, transforming into a bug feels super weird.
I can fly without using my Wind Magic, which is pretty cool. I’d practiced it a few times beforehand to get used to it, and it still feels weird, despite the changes I made to make it easier.
Most notably, I changed the structure of the eyes, since the vision with the normal bug eyes were super disorienting, and would’ve taken a lot of time to get used to.
So, I changed it to make it closer to human vision, and that made it a bit better. Now, then, I better get focused and ready…looks like Shiro is charging in, while the other two look like they’re preparing to run away.
Heh, I don’t think so, things aren’t going to go as planned. They shouldn’t have shown up…because by doing so, they’ve all but ensured my victory. Alright, Shiro…just as I’d decided to do, I’m now going to plunge you into the deepest depths of despair.
As he closed in on my fake corpse and drove his claws through the eyes, I swiftly zipped out from the left ear of the dummy corpse, where I’d been hiding, before using my teleportation to zip in close to Minise, his wife.
”Get away, you two, right now!” Came a yell of desperation.
Oh, so he noticed me, did he? Not bad. But unfortunately for him, he noticed too late.
”Huh? What’re you talking abou-…ugh, I think a bug just flew into my mouth,” She remarked in disgust, right as I sensed Shiro teleporting over here…but he was a just a second too slow thanks to his panic.
Ugh, this is so gross, I’m literally going down someone’s throat, it’s so slimy in here. Alright, time to go back to normal. I then undid my transformation, reverting to my normal, human form.
I felt the delightful sensation of flesh and muscle tearing around me, along with the snap of bones, before a bloody explosion burst out as I ripped out through her neck and upper chest, grabbing hold of her heart as I spotted it and emerged, her body collapsing as I teleported away.
I was covered in blood and guts, and in my hand was an apple, which I’d transformed her heart into. I let out a content sigh as I took a bite, smirking as I got a look at Shiro’s expression.
A look of horror and disbelief, denial in his eyes as he fell onto his knees and picked up Minise’s corpse into his arms, her neck, face and chest having burst open, she was completely unrecognizable.
Aw, I think he’s crying…poor guy, guess I really hurt his feelings, huh? I mean, I literally just stole his wife’s heart…heh, that was a good one.
I splashed a ball of water onto myself to wash away the blood and gore off my body, it was a bit distracting, plus there was some blood on the heart-turned-apple, which was kinda ruining the taste.
There, all eaten…and I feel a pretty decent boost to my power level, nice. And plenty of new abilities, to boot. And what’s this…I think I can summon monsters!
Ah, I get it, these new abilities are the powers of the monsters I can summon…amazing, so this is what the powers of a Monster King feels like, huh?
Damn, I should’ve targeted her a long time ago, this is some boost! Alright, now that I’m done with that, it’s time for the main course…let’s see if I can kill him while he’s still hung up over that corpse, shall we?
I smirked as I teleported behind him, forming an Obliteration Magic blast and aiming it at the middle of his back. Now, die!
Suddenly, right before I could fire it, his tail whipped out and slashing through my wrist, severing my hand and dissipating the charged up blast.
”Cusnai…get back to the castle,” He remarked in a cold, calmly furious tone.
”R-right…,” She responded, as she zipped away, tears in her eyes too.
”Too bad, I thought I could get you while you had your guard down…guess it won’t be that easy,” I chuckled, as I teleported away and began regrowing my hand.
This’ll take a few minutes, I’ve manged to figure out how to speed up the regenerative powers of my Anima, but it still takes some time to pull off.
”I’ll kill you, you fucking bastard…,” He muttered in an icy fury, before his eyes bulged with rage as he glared at me with immense hatred, “I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU, YOU HEAR ME!?!?”
