Chapter 64: Beginnings of the Secret Society (2)
“Alright, it’s done!” Fealta sighed in exhaustion, giving the final touches to Caithy. With that, the disguise for all three was completed. What they had done this time was different from the norm, created to blend in with the surroundings, and of course, look as harmless as possible.
Basically, all three of them had cross-dressed.
Compass Carburettor took in the appearance of a slightly fat middle-aged woman with a plain appearance. She had a somewhat thick neck, adorned with numerous jewelleries. As for the body frame, since he was lean, it was easy to pull off.
He wore a dress that was hard to move with, screaming discomfort. But, it had a rather pleasant appearance, something those with a bit of money wore.
As for the two servants, Fealta took on the appearance of a male butler in his late twenties with a potbelly while the other sported a middle-aged man’s appearance, seemingly the husband, displaying a magnificent bald head. They inspected their appearance in the large body mirror, practising their dialogues a little.
They began to behave in such a manner, adjusting their voices accordingly. After adding a certain liquid to their tongue to give a slight nasal feel to their voices, they changed the pitch, also ensuring to only speak in a certain manner that their vocal cords were capable of pulling off without letting their original voices leak out.
Once they had immersed themselves in their roles accordingly, they tucked in their respective Armaments, two per each, and exited the inn. Compass Carburettor sent his Spydragon first, scouting through the corridor first to ensure that it was clear of any prying eyes.
Only after that did they tread through the path.
‘Hmm, there are three people in the lobby below.’ He frowned, quickly thinking of a plan as the Spydragon slithered through the lobby, travelling through the corner to stay undetected, appearing beside a stool over which a potted vase had been placed.
It stared at it, opening its mouth to unleash an energy blade that resembled a fat needle, spanning a metre in length, five times its maximum body length. The needle pierced through the foot of the stool, vanishing as the Spydragon repeated the same action ten times, breaking off one of the stool’s legs, causing it to tilt to the side before falling off. In the meantime, it slithered away from the scene.
Upon the sound of the vase crashing on the floor, the attention of the three people was directed towards it, wondering what was up as they walked closer to it. In the meantime, Compass Carburettor and the other two calmly walked through the lobby, appearing from the direction that made them traverse the least distance through the lobby before reaching the exit.
As they had calmly walked out, none of the three people present in the lobby paid any attention to them, just thinking of them as one of the guests staying at the inn. As it was a relatively large inn with numerous rooms, it was hard for even the employees to recognise the faces of all the guests.
Moreover, they hadn’t paid any attention to the three people that just walked out.
Compass Carburettor sent two Spydragons flying towards the workshop, scouting through the place first as he and the two servants calmly approached one of the houses around it, knocking at its door.
“Yes?” The house owner opened the door, looking at the three people with a puzzled glance, acting no different to a regular person in his situation.
“One of my friends recommended this…place.” Compass Carburettor said, flashing a knowing smile, “I heard you sell handmade souvenirs.”
“We indeed sell them,” The man laughed, clearly understanding that the lady before him wasn’t a regular of the casino but had heard of it from somewhere and just wished to try it once. In an instant, he glanced at the three, tallying the wealth carried by the people, making a general estimate about how much would be in their possession through experience, smiling as he invited them in.
He then led them into a nearby room, showcasing them a path that went underground, “Please make your way inside. Someone would arrive to inform you of all the rules and regulations of the place.”
“Thank you,” Compass Carburettor said with a hint of excitement, “I’ve heard many entertaining things about this place.”
“Of course, you would have,” The man laughed, maintaining a respectable posture as the three people entered the path and reached the end. He then closed the entrance, a circular slab. Upon closing it, he spun it clockwise, hearing a click sound as he smiled, “Even if someone were to check here, the entrance wouldn’t open. Once spun clockwise to the limit, it fully integrates into the floor, hard to be detected even with careful observation.”
“That’s how we managed to keep it under wraps all along,” He laughed, frowning a bit, “Just who am I explaining it all to? Is it my age acting up?”
…
“Please, respected lady, can you wear this?” An employee arrived, presenting a mask to the three of them, “This is a measure to protect the identities of everyone. We don’t wish for anything that happens here to result in a conflict outside. I hope you can understand.”
“I’m fine with it,” Compass Carburettor—the middle-aged lady he was disguised as—said, wearing the mask as he calmly strode along, observing the place as his final Spydragon slithered out of his dress and hid underneath a table.
‘The guards here have Armaments. They aren’t even hiding it well. Maybe it’s because they control the entirety of Kettle City’s underground.’ Compass Carburettor thought, judging that it was good enough for the crowd to be little.
They had arrived slightly past noon, so not many customers were at the place. Those still here were the ones beyond despair, having been playing from the night before, on their final streak of loss before waging their lives.
Compass Carburettor and the two servants loitered about the place, using some of the money they had brought to place bets on some of the games, seemingly having fun. In the meantime, his Spydragon scouted out the entire layout of the place.
‘It’s time to take action.’ Having made note of the boss’s location, Compass Carburettor smiled, retracting his gun that he had casually placed atop the roof of a building that received a lot of sunlight, whispering to the two servants, “Kill them all!”
