Chapter 123 - God Mode
Monstrum watched his arms as the man let go of them, falling to the ground with a thud, silencing everyone. He got up from the tree, his eyebrows meeting as he stared at the newly arrived man.
"W-Why is an Angel here?" Monstrum asked. "And a clone too. Tell me, why is a Heaven dweller here?!"
Monstrum bent his knees and bowed slightly, screaming as he replaced his arms with ones made of fire. He gripped his hair with his new arms and lit it on fire, his eyes glowing with a bright orange color afterwards.
"God Mode."
The man sighed and turned to Monstrum. He waved his right hand and a jet of water spurted out from the ground, taking Monstrum up in the air. The man then blasted towards the stunned Ruler, the latter not believing that he was being overpowered even in his God Mode.
"Goodbye," the man said and was about to thrust his hand when a figure had travelled upstream inside the jet of water.
"Luminous Dexterity!"
"Hasty Aspire!" Elliot passed through Monstrum, his blade slashing the Ruler's chest, killing him instantly.
'<< God Mode >> skill gained.'
'241 Soul Points gained.'
'Realm Ruler killed. +500,000XP'
The man glared at Elliot with a piercing gaze. His eyes looked like they were about to pop out of their sockets as he looked at Elliot.
"April," the man offered his hand. Elliot, who was standing on top of the water jet, raised his sword and pointed it at the man. "April, it's best that you lose your legs."
The water formed two large swords in a blink of an eye, the swords crossing and pierced through Elliot's legs.
'Dragon Immunity Crest activated.'
Elliot let out a heavy sigh of relief, looking at the man who had a shocked expression.
"H-How?!" he yelled and kicked Elliot in the stomach. "You should be mine!"
"Elliot!" Lance yelled and ran to Hope who was morphing. "Fire a beam to distract that man. I'll leap when we get in the air and fight him."
"Okay," Hope responded and leaned down, Lance leaping on top of him as he rushed above.
Before they could even reach the man, a large black beast-like figure went past them. Luck was whistling while riding Midnight like a horse, his air magic wrapping around the man from the lake.
"Elliot, run!" Midnight yelled. "Abyssal Destroyer!"
He pointed his palms at the man and fired a wide pitch black beam with two spiral beams around it. His beam reached the man, passing through him. Even then, Midnight did not stop. He continued firing his beam until it was Luck who held his hands to stop.
"I think that's enough," Luck said. "That was a clone, so you shouldn't exhaust yourself."
Midnight's beam slowly dissipated, the man was nowhere to be seen, with and there was nothing but specks of dusts flying and vanishing into thin air.
The stream of water had also stopped spurting. Monstrum's body fell on the ground with a loud thump, his chest was open with the hole Elliot pierced.
"Who was that, Midnight?" Elliot asked as him and Hope descended. "You seemed to know him so well and you–"
"Stop," Luck raised his hand. Midnight took a deep breath as he felt his body shift back, falling into Luck's arms. "You need a rest."
"I need one so bad," Midnight said.
"Stop avoiding the question," Elliot suddenly blurted out. Everyone snapped their heads to him as he looked at both men, expecting for an answer. "It has been a few times where I encountered that man and you seem to know him. Answer my question, who is that–"
"He's a killer." They turned to the side, seeing Frederick walk towards them. "A killer who prays on little kids that looked like his daughter. And if you must know, he did force himself on his 15-year old daughter named April. She was short like Elliot and has the same features."
"If he's a huge criminal, why don't I know him?" Elliot asked. "He has to have posters in the Criminal Bulletin, right?"
"It's because the kingdom refuses to accept the fact that he's still at large," Frederick said. "Unlike other criminals, he's dormant for most times and would only become active when he sees April in someone."
"He knows the existence of the book inside the Forest of Gray Lake?" Elliot was going to say but stopped himself. Frederick was playing a game with him and he will play the game.
"Wow," Elliot faked sighed in relief. "But why didn't you tell me sooner? I could have prepared myself for anything if you just told me."
"Because you would be weirded out," Luck said. "That's what we thought. But you're not getting creeped up by a man suspecting you as his child, female child, so that was a waste keeping it from you."
"After all, even Lord Caezar has the hots for Elliot," Ed teased. "The dude said he's gonna make our friend his woman."
"F*cking creepy," Luck cursed and took Midnight with him, walking away. "See you at the guild. The Ruler's dead, and we're tired. We'll go home first."
Lance turned to Frederick, his eyebrows meeting as he tilted his head. "Why are you here, Guild Master?"
"I felt a strong being that has a flame affinity," Frederick replied. "Turns out, it's the defected Guardian."
Cain scoffed, "You little imbeciles thought that petty impostor was me? I retired over a year ago and everyone thought that man was me."
"So, what are we gonna do now?" Elliot asked, looking around at the mess from their battle.
"Let's dispose Monstrum's body beside Petra's… err, legs," Connor cringed. "I believe her upper body must be burried in Inferno."
A flaming portal appeared above Monstrum's drenched body. Petra's upper body fell from it, Gelrick's head popping out of it.
"Did I do a good job, Cain?" he grinned.
Cain chuckled and nodded, "You did a terrific job."
Their exchange of words made everyone gasp, with Connor speaking, "What the hell?"
Gelrick came out of the portal along with Therese. Both raised their heads and took a deep breath.
"It's so good being free," Therese said.
"Yeah," Gelrick agreed. "Monstrum's hypnotism isn't a joke."
"You were hypnotized?" Elliot gasped, looking at Therese who took the shards from Levitican's gem. She lit her palms with flame, melting the gem together before she struck it on the ground.
"We were. We never wanted to become Monstrum's Generals but he felt like we were going to be a waste if he just dispose of us," Therese replied with her calm and echoing voice. "Petra wasn't a good person either. We tried to pull her away from her father's flames of tyranny, but she walked to the path like a moth to a flame."
"I opened the portal and pretended to save her, only waiting for Cain to snap his fingers so I could close the portal," Gelrick said. "I awoke from the hypnotism when I attacked you at the temple, Geneva putting the Immunity above me."
"Well, what the hell," Connor let out.
