Chapter 231 - Round Two (1)
Elliot was frozen in his seat after hearing the news. He waited for the girls to say that everything was just a joke and the Aurora Knights had an argument with each other instead.
But what he waited for didn't come. Instead, the mood got even more intense.
"Mr. Elliot, are you okay?" Christina asked. "We know it's a shock, but it is what it is. Elizabeth wasn't in her guild when the attack happened. She was devastated after hearing the news."
"Does anyone know why?" Was the first thing Elliot asked after he regained his composure. "Who or what did it?"
"No," Florencia frowned. "Elizabeth was heartbroken when this incident happened about a month ago. The kingdom wanted to keep this as a secret so no news broke out. If this was on the headlines, the entire kingdom would be in a state of panic."
"I was under the impression that they were just disbanded because of bad management or some petty argument," Elliot confessed and sighed. "That guild has almost four times Azure Scorch Guild's members. Half of them…"
"It was painful but we don't have a choice but to move on," Christina said, "I particularly am close to Elizabeth. And she's in the verge of recovery. The police are investigating as hard as they could so the ones who did this would be punished."
"And Elizabeth is the head of the hunt," Florencia added. "Along with Johnson, they will lead the fight."
There was a smile on Elliot's lips. "And Lilith? No news about her and her siblings?"
"I'm afraid there's none," Florencia said. "The maids knows everything and they tell me what they think I want to know. But they have no idea what happened to her."
For Elliot, Marrietta's clues were the closest thing he could match with Lilith's case. She was the only one who gave them a rough idea as to where the woman's siblings were.
"Elliot, let's go now," Lance said as he descended from the flight of stairs. "We need to hurry up and… what happened?"
"Nothing," Elliot shut the topic off. "Are you going to come with us to the next arena?"
"I'll be outside with these three," Lance said. "I'll take you there. Good luck."
Elliot nodded and smiled, "Thank you."
–
"No way," Elliot gulped as he saw the rivers in the air.
They were in the North entrance where the river was floating in the air and formed tubes. The tubes were twisted and knotted, forming a very complex formation.
"What the hell is this?" Elliot asked out loud. They were forming a line right outside the entrance of the arena with the other teams.
Once again, each team was inspected if there was anything that they didn't declare. The Guards made sure that no one had to keep dangerous things or illegal items in their pockets.
Elliot tried to speak to the guard again, "Mr. Guard, I have spatial magic–"
"Next!" The guard yelled.
Elliot sighed and walked inside the arena, hopeless with the guard situation. He decided that he'll give up telling them, but still not use his ability. He needed to be fair with the others since this was a competition.
"This place is sick," Ed said. "I wonder what we're going to do."
Not long after everyone in their team got inside, Irv and Zia's islands were floating around the new arena. The tubes made from the river was standing about a hundred feet from the ground, extending of up to two times the town's square.
"Tonight, a new round will begin," Zia said.
"Round Two!" Irv yelled. "Is everyone ready for this?"
The Adventurers that were participating yelled in excitement. They were cheering and hollering from below, not able to wait anymore.
"I get the excitement, and I admite that," Irv chuckled. "For Round Two, every participant of the teams shall enter these tubes and find flags."
"There are limited number of flags that would determine which teams will proceed to the final elimination round or Round Three," Zia said. "Also, all the members of the team must touch the same flag to continue. There is a detection spell in th flags and it will automatically fire a beam to let everyone know that a team has found it."
"Can't wait to see who these teams are," Irv cheered. "Without further ado, let us start…"
"The Championship of the Greats, Round Three!"
The teams started sprinting. Even Elliot's group ran towards the large tubes made of the rivers. there's not much to do, but to be fast in order to catch the flag.
"Midnight, you and I will lead the way," Aquarius said. "We are the most advantage in this arena, so let's go."
They were about to jump into the tubes when a Freshwater Merknight stopped them. The beasts started arising from where the rivers should be, all screeching at them.
'Multiple beasts detected.'
Elliot cursed after seeing the notification. Of course, the Championship wouldn't be as easy. They needed a thrill so the viewers won't get bored.

…
In his count, there were a hundred Merknights in their direction. Elliot could see that there were also some inside the tubes, making it about four hundred beasts overall.
"And just when I thought this was going to be easy," Midnight sighed. "Dark Flash."
Midnight vanished in front of them and a black mist appeared around the beasts. Midnight was flashing around the mist, knocking out the Merknights in front of them one by one.
When he was finished clearing their path, Midnight returned to his position and gestured for the others to follow him.
"Aquarius, how many are there inside?" Minos asked.
Aquarius dipped his hand on the tube and felt the water. "There's a disturbance in these waters. I can't say."
"Are there traps inside?" Elliot asked. Aquarius felt the water again and this time, he still didn't feel anything.
"I really can't say. We need to find the disruptor and–"
"Found it!" Hope yelled. He raised his giant sword and took out a small eel from the water. "Try again."
Aquarius nodded and placed his hand back, this time, he could see things clearly. "There's just a few ones in this area, and no flags are taken yet. We can still make it. I see a flag right… there."
Aquarius retracted his hand and turned to his teammates, "Shall we go inside?"
"Yeah," Elliot smiled. "Let's go!"
