Chapter 391 - Kaminari Vs Angin
Kaminari backed off a couple of steps while Angin stepped forward. They both looked at each other the eyes, glaring at one another. Their piercing gazes were so sharp that it made everyone feel as though the air itself would rip apart.
"Angin…" Kaminari trailed off. "You were sent to defend the refugees in the North. Why are you here?"
Angin smirked and pulled the wide sleeves of his clothes up, revealing a black tattoo embroidered in his arm. "I have chosen to pick my side, K. You wouldn't understand."
The man with the red cloak offered his hand to Sayu who, without any second thoughts, took it. She smirked as she wrapped her legs around Angin's left thigh, looking at Kaminari who now had a shocked and confused expression in his face.
"This is impossible!" Kaminari yelled. "Angin, you are my best friend. How could you do this to me?"
"You said it yourself," Angin muttered with his deep scruffy voice. "You didn't want Sayu. She came to me to ask for help to make you fully hers, but I had other plans in mind. Why would a beautiful and perfect woman like her be a slave to your childish ideals? Saving the world? Preventing darkness? K, the darkness is inevitable!"
A gust of air blew around Angin and Sayu. The air got stronger as it lifted them both off the ground and into the air where they overlooked the entire square. "Malice is inevitable!"
Angin thrust his hand above him, firing a strong tornado that reached up to the skies, making the clouds darken and the sun to be concealed. He parted his hands to deactivate the above him but slammed both his palms together afterwards.
"Valley of Air."
From the dark skies, pits started to appear. Inside the pits were small tornados that were slowly forming and growing.
"Angin!" Kaminari yelled. "You'll kill all these people!"
"Shyako is nothing but a graveyard to me now, K," Angin said. "And you'll become its first corpse!"
The people of Shyako were scared. Even after Elliot and his friends tried to calm them down, a stampede still started. Words weren't enough to soothe their minds when they were seeing large tornadoes about to fall over them.
Once that attacks unleashes its wrath, it will destroy everything and anything in its wake. Something as powerful as this must require an enormous mana, making Elliot suspect that Angin was sucking off a Maiden's powers.
"How can we calm them down?" Connor yelled.
"We can't!" Lance yelled back. He brandished both his swords and raised them, conjuring large spheres of each color at the tip of the swords. The light from his spheres caught the attention of the mass. They all looked at him, slowly calming down.
"Everyone!" Lance yelled. "You need to calm down first. Follow my lead and we shall exit this city. Please line up and calm down. We shall–"
"Lance look out!" Elliot yelled. He used his Hasty Aspire to boost his speed and pushed Lance away. There was a large stone golem behind them that was about to pounce on Lance.
"What's these creatures now?" Connor groaned while seeing more and more golems to spawn.
"It is unfair for me to work alone while you get help," Angin said to Kaminari. "Don't worry. The golems aren't as strong as me. Maybe half of your little friends would survive? Who knows."
"These golems…" Kaminari trailed off as he watched the giant stone creatures walk closer to them. "They are spawns of the Earth Master, why do you have them?"
"You're all alone now, K!" Angin said. "All the other Masters are with Malice, and we have never felt stronger. She gives us enhancement for our powers that you or your petty Maidens can ever provide."
"You were never a man worthy of fairness or respect, aren't you?" Kaminari seethed. "You're nothing but a coward who hid behind his father's power and never tried to get stronger yourself. You always rely on other people to achieve your goals. You're nothing but a selfish and arrogant fool, Angin!"
Angin, greatly angered by his former friend's words, pushed Sayu off of him while giving Kaminari a toothy grin. He was so focused on his opponent that he didn't notice Sayu to fall to the wooden platform. She couldn't land properly that when her feet met the ground, her bones created cracking sounds.
"No!" Sayu yelled. She failed to land that made her body fall to the ground with a loud thud, silencing the panicking crowd. Her eyes widen when she felt a stinging pain in her stomach. "W-What…"
Sayu saw her pink clothing stained with blood. She looked at Angin in panick, the man sharing the same look of fear in their faces. "Angin, help me!"
The Wind Master could only watch Sayu as she spat blood and bleed even more. He couldn't move. Perhaps even after he received the ungodly powers of Malice and lost most of his humanity, his feelings for Sayu had never faded.
And now, the love of his life, the woman he always dreamt of was dying. He immediately deactivate his approaching tornadoes and jumped to the platform. He placed Sayu's head on his lap while watching the life in her eyes slowly fade.
"Sayu?" Angin whispered, trying to call his lover. "Sayu, please wake up."
A couple of meters away from the scene were Elliot and his friends. They were battling the giant golems while listening to the conversation between the two Masters.
"How come she lost her baby from that and not from our battle?" Connor asked. "I think she was thrown a lot of times and was leaping all over the place. She didn't lose her child then."
"The support," Ed said. He slashed his glowing purple sword and finished off a giant he was battling. "Sayu always had the darkness around her, and right before she fell, the darkness vanished."
"You mean Malice withdrew her magic from the woman?" Lance asked to which Ed answered with a shrug.
"I'm not positive if Malice deliberately did it or was it on accident, but one thing is for sure, the darkness is gone," Ed said.
"And you knew everything is just an illusion, right?" Elliot narrowed his eyes. "How come you didn't say anything?"
"Because I wanted to investigate more," Ed said with a sly smirk. "Besides, if I told you, our covers would've been blown and we could've faced bigger problems. It was best if I kept it as a secret at first. That way, I can freely move with my investigation."
"Hold that thought," Elliot said. "Supreme Malevolence!"
In under a few seconds, Elliot had finished all the golems. It was like he was a flashing red light that passed through all of the gigantic rock creatures, killing them all at once.
"What did you found in your investigation?" Elliot asked, finishing off the last golem by destroying its head.
"Among the Masters, only Kaminari was left," Ed said. The others sighed after hearing the same thing from Angin. Connor was about to smack them in the back of his head when Ed raised his hand to stop him, "And there's one more thing.. You can steal the powers of the Masters."
