Chapter 762 Four Pillars: Exchanging Information (2)
?Hearing Nila say those words, Valyr felt a hint of excitement and expectation well up in his body.
After all, obtaining information from Nila regarding technologies of a future age, even if vague, would significantly reduce the cost to unlock said technologies.
Then again, even if he didn’t ask Nila for information, it wasn’t as if he had no other way to obtain the same thing.
For one, the rewards he would obtain after finishing the trials from the Gates of Awakening would undoubtedly expand his knowledge base beyond the Renaissance Age.
Considering how the Gates of Enlightenment had also done the same thing after receiving its rewards, he was certain that he would arrive close to the level of technology he wanted by the time he entered the Gates of Transcendence.
Of course, just like him suddenly bringing up the topic of future technologies to Nila in their conversation, his journey into the Four Pillars’ Inheritance for these technologies wasn’t planned.
If anything, he just decided to make use of it, considering that the things he had actually planned to do to reach the same level of technology would take longer to arrive.
‘If there wasn’t any prep time between the beta and the first release of Greater Beyond, I would’ve probably put less importance on this inheritance,’ thought Valyr to himself, briefly glancing at Nila.
Seeing that the woman was still gathering and organizing her thoughts regarding the thing he wanted to know, the young man returned his train of thought to what it was earlier.
‘Now that I think about it, I might still have to rely on that one event,’ inwardly muttered the young man. ‘Though, that’ll depend on what Nila decides to tell me.’
Surprisingly, the event that Valyr had in mind was in fact an event that would serve as a bridge between the first version and the second version of Greater Beyond.
With Greater Beyond’s world spanning over planets and galaxies, medieval technology and magic alone wouldn’t be enough to take players to the skies.
And thus, the event was made, giving players a platform to explore beyond their starter worlds and truly embody what the title of the game implied.
For combat players, this would come as an opportunity to hitch a ride onto a nearby planet.
However, from what Valyr knew, the top players in that event were given a personal spaceship, allowing them to explore what Greater Beyond had to offer at their own pace.
Of course, the production classes weren’t left out of this event.
In fact, it could even be considered that they got the better bargain from the event compared to the combat classes.
After all, what would be better than a personal spaceship…
If not the knowledge and ability to build a spaceship from scratch?
“If I didn’t enter the Four Pillars’ Inheritance, I would have to gain all of the basic technology needed for the spaceship from someplace else,” muttered the young man to himself.
Reminiscing over his memories of the past, Valyr soon bitterly smiled.
‘Then again, with it appearing right when the War of the Three Sovereignties reached its climax, I don’t even know if it’ll appear in this current timeline.’
‘It would be nice if it did.’ Valyr let out a low sigh at the thought.
After that, the young man went over through a few more memories from the past, only for his train of thought to be interrupted by Nila.
“Alright. I think I have all of the information you want to know.” Looking at the young man with a calm expression, Nila took in a deep breath before beginning her explanation.
“Though I may come from a place not from Veldanyr, the information I have on hand regarding the eras of technologies is not complete.”
“If anything, my knowledge only goes up to like ten eras after the Renaissance Age, give or take,” she said, only to let out a chuckle soon after.
“After all, there’s no point in utilizing advanced technology if the planet doesn’t have the necessary materials or equipment to make use of it in the first place.”
“Anyways, I’ve digressed again,” said Nila after that, faintly coughing to refresh her train of thought.
“Let us begin.”
“Do note that I won’t be able to go over every technology for each era since I haven’t learned up on them myself, but I’m sure what I tell you would still be of great help in your journey.”
At those words, Valyr fully concentrated his attention on what Nila had to say next, making sure to commit every single detail to memory.
“After the Renaissance Age comes the Age of Scientific Revolution,” said Nila, listing a few of the technologies that had become prominent during that age.
“During this age, it could be said that the world of technology is on the edge of the tipping point between medieval and modern.”
“In the end, the world of technology tipped onto the other end, bringing about technology that sought greater efficiency.”
“With that, the era that comes after the Scientific Revolution is the First Industrial Revolution.”
After saying these words, Nila asked Valyr if he was understanding her explanation so far, to which he nodded in response.
Seeing how calm he was while listening to her explanation, the woman once again became somewhat suspicious towards the young man.
Though, in the end, she decided to brush it off aside, thinking that it had something to do with the fact that he was part of the Zeihardt clan.
If not, then it probably had something to do with what the young man had gained so far from the Triad Gates.
“After the First Industrial Revolution came the Second Industrial Revolution,” said Nila. “As to why it was called that and not something else… I don’t really know.”
“Then, after the Second Industrial Revolution came the Machine Age, only to be followed up by the Atomic Age after that.”
“Some civilizations have prospered greatly after obtaining technology from the Atomic Age, actually,” she added on the side.
“Though, the same could be said on the opposite end, harnessing the power brought by its knowledge to cause wanton destruction.”
“In any case, after that era came the Jet Age, pushing the modes of transportation introduced by the previous eras to greater heights.”
“And at the end of that era, life sought to explore the world beyond their skies.”
“With that… the Space Age had come into fruition.”
