Chapter 81 - Fierce Little Girl
When Ming Yue returned from the kitchen carrying the dishes, she saw Wan Yi Jun and Han Ze Min arguing in the corridor leading to the dining room, with no sense of their surroundings. The moment, they noticed Ming Yue's presence, both of them, abruptly went silent as if nothing had happened here.
"Is everything alright, Yi Jun?" Ming Yue asked in a lowered voice, giving a side glance at Han Ze Min, whose face darkened at the very moment when she talked to his cousin so sweetly.
"Yes, give it to me." He gave a soft smile and reached out to hold the dishes from her hands.
"No, it is alright. I can carry this much." She argued as she refused to hand over the dishes. It was true that her palm was injured, but that was a mere laceration, but watching how Wan Yi Jun worries over her wound, she couldn't help but wonder what's wrong with him.
"This is what I said." Han Ze Min scoffed as he glared at Wan Yi Jun, who was acting like Mr goody-two-shoes in front of him.
"What?" Wan Yi Jun and Ming Yue simultaneously reacted to his remark in annoyance,
"I have never seen young master Wan helping out any servants in this mansion all these years." Han Ze Min paused for a moment and moved towards Ming Yue while scrutinizing her top to bottom, "And I don't think maids in this house address their master by name either."
Hearing his words, Ming Yue took a deep sigh and shifted her eyes to Wan Yi Jun, who stood there silent,
"This is what I told you earlier, master." She said in a complaining tone, keeping the other in complete ignorance.
"Just ignore him. He is crazy." Wan Yi Jun suggested as he placed the dishes onto Han Ze Min's hands and pushed him towards the dining room, "Go,"
"Don't think you guys managed to fool me. I'm going to find the truth one or day or another." Han Ze Min gritted his teeth as he stomped back to the dining room.
"Is he alright?" Ming Yue inquired while looking at the grumpy man, who walked away without having a proper conversation with her. The warm and gentle "Min" in her memories were nowhere to see, and even though, she didn't want to acknowledge it, Ming Yue did feel a bit bad for
"Yeah...He loves drama. Just don't mind him." Wan Yi Jun flashed his hands over as if he was not concerned by Han Ze Min's tantrums and walked towards the kitchen, "Where is the rest of the dishes? Let's bring it together."
Since Wan Yi Jun insisted on helping her, Ming Yue also went along with his decision. Not only did he accompany her to bring the dishes to the table, but asked her to sit with them for the meal.
Even though it was just a couple of people, after fifteen years, finally, the dining table in the Wisteria mansion had witnessed a get-together.
Although Ming Yue sat next to Wan Yi Jun, she couldn't feel relaxed as everyone's eyes were focused on her, studying every single action of hers.
Especially, Han Ze Min was literally scowling at her as if she had done something wrong.
Ming Yue tried hard to keep a poker face, but Han Ze Min, on the other hand, continued looking at her even he served for himself.
She thought about ignoring his feisty actions, but the moment she noticed that he has unknowingly taken some scallops, she immediately pointed out for his sake.
"It's scallop and it would be better if you avoid eating it." Ming Yue stopped him and moved the dumplings towards him as the starters.
"Who told you that I like pan-fried dumplings?" He bitterly asked as soon as his eyes fell on the dish in front of her and Ming Yue, on the other hand innocently glanced at Wan Yi Jun, who ate his food without being affected by the rest of the staring competition going around him
"He did?" Even Han Ze Min was surprised to hear Ming Yue's reply as he looked at his cousin in disbelief. Back in their childhood, it was a hassle in the house because of the interests and tastes of the two young masters of wisteria gardens. The man who lacked any endearing emotions actually made an effort to look after his annoying cousin's likes and dislikes, that was something new for Han Ze Min.
"He said that you are allergic to shellfish and make something else for starters. Yi Jun has told me that you enjoyed eating dumplings, last time. So I thought of trying to make it. What happened? It is not good?"
Even though Ming Yue just acted normal, the others at the dining table felt like she was indeed the lady of the house,
"That's not possible. She cooks really well." Just as Wan Yi Jun doubtingly reached out for the dumplings, Han Ze Min pulled the bowl towards him, as if he doesn't want to share it with anyone else.
"No. It is good," He said while stuffing his mouth with dumplings,
As soon as Ming Yue saw a slight disappointment on Wan Yi Jun's face, she unknowingly placed a scallop on his bowl.
"I must say that Captain is too lucky that he could eat food made by your hands, for the rest of his life, sister Ming." Bing Wen, who enjoyed the little acts of love and jealousy happening between the secret couple, asked with a witty smile as if he saw through their act.
Even though Wan Yi Jun and Ming Yue didn't give much importance over his choice of the words, ther person who got hurt by that comment was actually Han Ze Min.
The mere thought of a woman like her spending time with his cousin has left him on pins and needles, so what might have happened to his muddled mind when he sees Wan Yi Jun and Ming Yue live the rest of their lives together.
Even though, he want to ignore his gut feelings, Han Ze Min couldn't admit the fact that they way Wan Yi Jun interacts with Ming Yue felt different than any other women in his life.
The glances, the little gestures, faint smiles, everything the couple shared, only helped to strengthen the doubts in Han Ze Min's jealous mind.
It just pushed him into frustration and Han Ze Min didn't think twice as as he reacted in a way that sounded slightly offensive to everyone else.
"Why don't you open a restaurant instead of being someone's maid?"
The question sounded so casual yet it had a mocking tone hidden in it. While everyone, gawped at Han Ze Min as if he had somehing wrong, Ming Yue just casually tilted her head and repeated the question as it was no big deal,
"Should I open a restaurant, Yi Jun?" Her question that came without any delay was directed to Wan Yi Jun even though it as someone else who asked her the question.w
"You want to open a restuarant? Wan Yi Jun repeated the question like a dumb man. He was well aware of Ming Yue's talents, but even for once he thouht that she would be interested to do something else. He obviously appointed her as a maid under an unavoidable situation, but not even once, he tried to know Ming Yue's interests or her likes.
"Well, it is better than ruining your life looking after someone." Han Ze Min scoffed as he gave a glare at Wan Yi Jun, whose face literally started to go pale as if he had seen some ghost.
"I have never thought like that, officer..But I don't think of opening a restuarant." Ming Yue came with the clumsiest excuse, when she understood that it was just a continuation of whatever argument between the cousins.
"But still? You are quite a beauty and people will stand in que," He said once again, just to annoy Wan Yi Jun and show others who got the upperhand in the Wisteria gardens
"Ya...She is good cook, but that doesn't mean that she must turn it into a business." Wan Yi Jun advised like an elder familiar who loves to discourage the new ideas in a family get to gether, "Also she is not old enough to handle the pressure of leading a business. Let her enjoy her youth first,"
"Ya..She is enjoying her life as the lonely maid of a haunted house and a ruthless owner," Han Ze Min let out scoff, striaghtly attacking Wan Yi Jun with no mercy.
"Officer Han, thanks for suggesting such a fantastic idea. But I don't think I'm capable enough to start a business on my own."Ming Yue who felt that if she don't meddle between them, the dining table will witness one more heated debate, somehow tried to pacify Han Ze Min, "I will definitely open a restuarant later when I save a enough money,"
She believed that her assurance might put an end their conversation, but it was only the beginning of a fierce battle.
