Chapter 72: Obsessive group chat

Chapter 72: Obsessive group chat

It was already long past midnight and Shane doubted that anyone would message him back within the next few hours.

As such Shane decided to take a look at the basin inside the room he hid from the slightly drunk shelter captain because of the possibility of him being pursued, which was highly unlikely, in order to wash up

Shane knew many similar humans like the shelter captain and most of them were losers, trying to show off with their weak combat prowess because they stayed longer than necessary at lower dimensions in order to push up their ego.

This was unnecessary and most of such individuals would never reach the position of a shelter captain which began to wonder Shane even more, as Uncle Lars who was in the military told him more than enough about their rankings and the common situations in every shelter, what to take care of and which people he should avoid.

Under normal circumstances, such a huge mistake like promoting an irresponsible drinker into the position of a shelter captain was more than reckless.

After Shane sent all messages, he waited for a few minutes in the hope that someone saw his message, only for him to lay down on the bed disappointed, as not a single notification was issued by the system.

It was exactly as he predicted and Shane had already changed into a different set of clothes after washing up.

Only now did he finally notice how tired he was, as he decided to sleep for a few hours, before doing anything else.

Laying on his back, Umbra coiled around his body, as Shane decided to take out a few mana crystals from his spatial storage in order to allow Umbra to cultivate his sleep, which was possible for all kinds of beasts.

Even humans absorbed mana while sleeping, it was just extremely slow and useless for Shane right now.

He didn’t need to absorb mana, but to purify it, however, it was exactly the opposite for Umbra, as it had to gather a vast amount of mana in order to increase its evolution progress rate.

Even if the progression bar would only increase by a marginal amount throughout the night, it would be better than wasting this time.

As such, Shane laid out several small mana crystals around him, without moving them around too much, as the mana crystals started to release mana once they were shattered, which happened when he crushed them with his extraordinary quality pickaxe.

Only his spatial ring prevented them from leaking mana and inside the spatial ring, it was as if it stopped time.

Looking at the released mana and activating his mana gathering technique to take a look, Shane noticed that the mana inside the crystals he threw out were extremely thin, which was most likely the reason for them to be worth so much less than commonly seen mana stones.

Closing his eyes, he slept for a few hours, before he woke up thanks to Umbra’s insatiable hunger transmitted straight to him…

Looking at Umbra slightly angry, Shane noticed that the small snake couldn’t do anything about his hunger as he felt that the maturing process was still not done, which surprised both of them.

According to Umbra’s quality, it should be matured and wouldn’t grow in strength anymore but upon looking closer, Shane also noticed that its size was still increasing.

`Is that thanks to my Innate-Skill’s abilities?` Shane began to think and this was most likely the case as he couldn’t figure another reason for it.

Thinking about the possibility to purchase Umbra a small spatial ring, or bracelet it could hang around it, Shane noticed that his tamed beast would rather lose it as if it could be used efficiently, and he sighed in regret.

`Is there no way to satisfy Umbra’s hunger?`…

Feeding Umbra with multiple dishes, Shane looked at the system messenger, only to turn relieved and happy at the same time.

Somehow all uncles and aunts messaged him back not without forgetting to lament about his copy-pasted message he sent everyone, as they questioned him about his well-being, while Lars was supposed to inquire more about the RadiantRing shelter, only to complain about what he wrote within the message.

It seemed like his family messaged each other and Lars was supposed to do his job, while the others were supposed to squeeze information out of him.

Not a single one of them doubted his identity, which made him happy and Shane decided to create a group chat with the 9 of them to make things easier.

It seemed like a few noticed the group chat immediately, as they were either doing business within the system, purchasing something, or reading through the PrimWeb’s forum.

Lars was also present and messaged him back almost immediately after he wrote everything he knew about the RadiantRing shelter

“What the hell are these idiots doing within the Basic-Dimensions?!?! Can’t they even hire a normal shelter captain??…. Sorry, Shane, I’ll send someone else to take care of everything, but It will take a few hours at least. Right now, everything is a little bit chaotic due to the advanced dimension we are supposed to enter in order to establish a shelter there.

Even your father is nervous because the dimension is said to be infested with many dreadful existences and high-ranked races, due to the high number of natural resources.

But even so, reinforcement will come soon and help you guys out.

Please try to avoid the shelter captain for now, until the others arrive, okay? I don’t want that anything happens to you because your strength is most likely not even remotely comparable to an Expert shelter captain, or am I wrong? Ha…About your escape from John….Let me tell you something in secret…

I’m proud and at the same time disappointed in both you and John. John’s way to raise you up was garbage to put it simply, but running away like a spoiled child isn’t the way to handle disputes like that.

On the other side, John would never accept your way of thinking, at least for now…Just keep increasing your strength and do the best to make humanity proud…In the end, John only wants you to keep becoming stronger in order to defend yourself and the ones you love. Please understand that and don’t hate your dad or any of us, because we also prevented you from experiencing a normal childhood.

We only want the best for you!”

He never knew that Lars could be that serious and thoughtful, as he read through the message and it astonished him, causing Shane to stop eating for a moment.

Understanding why he had to endure such arduous training for years in addition to the teaching was not that difficult for someone who lifted his second life, but his father’s way to raise him was what caused him mental and physical pain which he wouldn’t forget just like that.

Shane didn’t want to continue thinking about his father, which caused him to change his attention back to the newly established chat group where everyone was still inquiring about his health, almost as if they were obsessed with him.

Writing with them for an hour, Shane felt like he was with them once again, before everyone had to focus on their work.

Closing the messenger, he was curious when exactly the reinforcement would arrive in order for them to start gearing up the shelter’s defensive mechanism.
