Starting From the Dragon Tribe

Chapter 61: The Curtain Falls

The hybrids behind the young man stood as straight as could be. Now, it was no longer the time when the hybrids could only fight the gods with their bodies. The power of technology had armed them to the teeth.

Their individual strength was not comparable to the pureblood dragons, but their blood was still able to resist Kingship to an extent, their swords could not harm the Dragon Raja, but their missiles could lay them to rest.

What’s more, the Secret Party had the legendary dragonslayer, Hilbert Ron Anjou; and now, they had a new super-hybrid, Lu Chen. Recently, more and more dragons had been awakening more frequently, but they believed that the war would eventually end with victory belonging to mankind!

Under Lu Chen’s suppression, the agents carefully wrapped the alchemic chains to the 3rd generation’s body, with Lu Chen watching over her the entire time.

After the battle, Lu Chen sat on a metal box instrument. He wanted to light a cigar, but found that the lighter, soaked by water, could no longer work. At least the cigars packed inside a metal container sent by Caesar were fine.

Pop—

A fire lit up. It was Agent Bob, who offered his light as he smiled: “Sometimes, the lighters made by the Equipement Department can be handy, since they’re waterproof at least.”

“Huff—”

Lu Chen exhaled a puff of smoke, “Where’s the girl?”

“She’s probably going to be brought back to the college. Seeing how today’s events unfolded, she should contain dragon’s blood. Her parents also need to be examined. The other tribesmen are a little more troublesome to deal with and may need to be brainwashed. After the ruckus you caused in the battle, Professor Toyama will have some work to do.”

After finishing that last bit, Bob also chuckled, then became serious again. He got up and saluted as thanks to Lu Chen for saving his life. Upon seeing Officer Purtell’s arrival, he sensibly left.

“As expected of our S-grade ace. Even a complete 3rd generation species could not face you. Are you hurt anywhere?” Purtell asked.

Lu Chen shook his head and said, “I’m fine, but my trench coat isn’t. I just bought that, even if it isn’t all torn up, it’s gotta be all full of mud.”

In addition, his Red Maple also had a lot of chips. This alchemic weapon was not designed with taking out 3rd generation species in mind. He ended up using a bit too much force.

As for talk about how those kendo masters could cut slabs of metal with only a rusty sword, he merely listened, because only those old geezers who’ve studied half their life for that could do something like that. He never reached any sort of profound martial art realm. The way he saw it, as long as the weapon was good enough and he swung hard enough, it would be all right.

Purtell momentarily froze. He never expected that after a battle of that scale, the S-grade agent’s first thought was about the windbreaker he took off.

Lu Chen pursed his lips, saying, “I bought that myself. Guess I’ll have to eat less midnight snacks.”

He thought, if only Milana didn’t tell me to watch my appearance, I’d only buy that cheap shit from the flea market—so comfy and loose-fitting!

At this moment,  his phone started ringing (At least his phone was waterproof). It was a follow-up of the mission, sent by Norma.

He was asked to escort the 3rd generation species back to the college and then watch over her while they did experiments on her. And afterwards, he was to be responsible for executing her.

Lu Chen was satisfied. The mission was perfectly completed. The first blood mission would be fulfilled—this trip wasn’t in vain!

It was just that cutting her wasn’t all too enjoyable. This 3rd generation was indeed very strong, but she was still lacking. If he ran into her when he just came to this world, perhaps it’d be more fun.

“I heard you got the highest scholarship, hm?” Purtell wondered. If the S-grade had to measure his scholarship money by the number of night snacks he could eat, then was he so poor that he couldn’t eat properly?

Lu Chen froze and laughed awkwardly, “I tend to eat a lot.”

Purtell smiled heartily as well. This put him into a relaxed mood.

Originally, he was a bit upset with the arrangements done by the college this time. The news of a fighting force like the S-grade ace agent would be participating was kept a secret for so long, not to mention mobilizing him would not be fast enough.

Normally, when the 3rd generation species awakened, Lu Chen should have been on standby.

Although they were a strong lineup, they were not suited for hunting a 3rd generation. They were only the survey team, they had yet to go face-to-face with that 3rd generation.

If they used modern combat tactics, heavy weaponry, they would have hope of beating the 3rd generation species in this no-man’s land, but because of the council’s sudden live capture command, they were caught with their pants down, and almost had to fight the 3rd generation.

Good thing Lu Chen had arrived in time, or else the Secret Party would have suffered a great loss tonight, those were dozens of elite A-grade agents!

Of course, he couldn’t shift the blame completely on the college. According to the experts and Norma’s calculations, the awakening of the 3rd generation species was supposed to take a set amount of time. No one would have thought that she would awaken so quickly and instantly put the agents of the Executive Bureau in a desperate situation…

Even if those elite agents were able to kill that 3rd generation, they would have suffered great losses either way. Upon thinking this, Purtell’s eyes flickered as he looked at the young man and did not know if he had used that technique.

Note that even if his Kotodama was Split Second, the only increase was in speed, not strength, but this young man not only faced the draconized 3rd generation head-on, exchanging blows evenly and even subjugated the opponent.

He wondered how he would write the report in order to lessen the young man’s troubles.

If Lu Chen had known Purtell’s thoughts, he would have thought that he was overthinking. His mentor and the principal knew all too well of his abnormal power. Even if he acted a bit stronger than usual, they would only think he was using Blood Rage.

This information would likely not reach the school board because of its suppression by Mentor Schneider and Principal Anjou. Though the school board was the one with capital, the ones truly in power were the administrators. The saying “deceiving the top to hide the bottom” was apt in this situation. He hardly had to worry about being targeted.

Since Principal Anjou believed him to be from some super hybrid bloodline in Japan, he was happy to let this misunderstanding continue.

Going back would be a bit of a problem. They couldn’t just bring in a scale-covered hostage into the premises. They “most likely” wouldn’t be able to get it through customs, nor consign for shipment.

After a few tries, they came to a private airport in South Africa, where there was a huge structure, Sleipnir, said to be the mount of Odin in Norse mythology. It was the principal’s private jet.

But before getting on the plane, Lu Chen resisted like his life depended on it, because he heard that the fuckin’ plane was actually modified by those psycho Equipment Department members.

If this fucking thing exploded while they were 10,000 meters in the air, he would kick the bucket no matter how strong he was.

“Relax, it’s the principal’s specially hired ace pilot, who’s so skilled that he can even dodge missiles,” Merry reassured. She now realized how much their S-grade ace agents detested the Equipment Department.

“Then let me ask you, does this plane have an explosion function?” Lu Chen looked suspiciously at the imposing aircraft.

“This… in terms of direct function, it does not exist,” Merry explained hesitantly.

“What do you mean ‘direct function?’ If it exists, then it exists! if it doesn’t, then it doesn’t!” Lu Chen became more and more alarmed about this plane.

“The Equipment Deparment did not install a bomb on the plane after the modification,” Merry explained.

Lu Chen sighed in relief, “That’s good.”

“But this plan was retrofitted with two kinetic power engines, which were said to be used on spaceships and could cause an explosion if used improperly.”

The next sentence that Merry uttered made Lu Chen, who had one foot on the boarding steps, stiffen yet again as he looked at Merry, not knowing whether to cry or laugh, thinking, can the Equipment Department just not??
