Chapter 1050: Returning to the Aurora Clan?

A Spiritualist of Healing. An orthodox genius with an Unrestricted Soul Spirit. Fuchen was well aware what having such a potential meant. The gaze he set on Xia Fei had become even more fervid. He soundlessly swallowed his saliva.
“Yes, well done! For you to have brought to bear your unique trait even when you’ve only recently become an Orthodox Spiritualist, mending the soul of a warrior with two Soul Marks, this feat is nothing short of spectacular.” Fuchen intentionally puffed his chest and straightened his back, acting all
formal.
Xia Fei waved his hand politely. “It’s nothing special. I didn’t manage to mend his soul fully, but at the very least, Fei Haizhen shouldn’t have to worry about dying anymore. As long as he takes some time to recuperate, he should be able to recover completely. Truly, soul mending is such a tiring job. I feel
like my entire body has been sapped of its energy.”
Fuchen chuckled. “You have yet to achieve dual harmonization and haven’t been on this path for long; it’s normal for you to feel lethargic. In truth, you having persevered till now is already very surprising. Wait till you achieve dual harmonization, and it’ll be as if you have obtained an unlimited supply of
energy. When the time comes, you’ll naturally have it far easier compared to now.
“Remember: Energy is the foundation for everything. No matter what stage you’re in, you can’t forget about energy reserves. There are unmatched benefits to storing energy in your Unrestricted Soul Spirit Mark, and you just need to make good use of it.”
Xia Fei frowned and asked, “What is this ‘dual harmonization’ you keep mentioning? Are you talking about the interchangeable use of soul and spiri
Fuchen nodded. “Precisely. What you obtain from killing an enemy becomes soul power, while mending a soul or forging a soul weapon requires spirit energy. Soul power is from living beings, while spirit energy comes from the origin of the cosmos. The two are different, with soul power being inferior
and spirit energy being superior.
“We Orthodox Spiritualists can take in soul power and tum it into spirit energy. From what I can see, your brain region has plenty of soul power stored, most likely what you obtained from engaging in large-scale massacres in the past. Among those souls, four are of high quality. If you only turned all of
those into spirit energy, I can guarantee that not only wouldn’t you feel tired after mending Fei Haizhen’s soul, you mightn’t even produce a single bead of sweat.
“Of course, using those two types of energy interchangeably isn’t easy. It differs from person to person, as it’s based on one’s talent and cultivation. The losses during the conversion process differ, too. People with low cultivation can perhaps gain about 50% spirit energy out of a 100% soul power, maybe
even less, while an Orthodox Spiritualist with high cultivation can have 80% conversion efficiency.”
Soul power, spirit energy… Xia Fei felt perplexed, so all he could do was shrug.
Fuchen laughed. “You’ll be fine as long as you understand the general principle behind it. What you use in combat is energy, and what you use to create soul weapons is also energy. It’s just two different kinds of energy. As for Origin Crystals, that’s an even more basic energy. It’s far from what psychic
energy like soul power or spirit energy can provide.”
‘When this conversation ended, the old-young pair inside the room was still crying, Escaping death and being reunited with one’s family, such a reaction was par for the course.
Fuchen seemed to dislike seeing people cry. Wrinkling his brows, he told Xia Fei, “Let’s go and walk around the garden outside. While we are at it, let’s urge the Fei family’s chef to hasten their preparation of that pair of Pearl Emerald Bamboo Shoots. This elder is feeling real hungry right now.”
Xia Fei was speechless. Many times, Fuchen did not act like an Orthodox Spiritualist at all and more like an old glutton.
Fei family’s manor, the back garden, dinner party.
Fuchen’s long-awaited Pearl Emerald Bamboo Shoots were finally served on the dining table. The cold dish looked crystal clear, almost resembling a plate of translucent jade. The soup was also clear, displaying an array of colorful lights, which made it hard for anyone to believe that this was food.
Just that these Pearl Emerald Bamboo Shoots did not have any aroma whatsoever. It was placed not too far away from Xia Fei, but all he could smell was the fragrance of the side dishes; all the Pearl Emerald Bamboo Shoots provided was a breathtaking sight.
Ina show of appreciation for Xia Fei and Fuchen’s timely help, the Fei family had worked to the bone while they were preparing this spread, essentially buying out all the most precious ingredients that could be found on Golden Eagle 19.
Fei Haizhen did not make an appearance come dinnertime. Given that he was still recuperating, he was expectedly still in frail spirits. Actually, he had already done his best by making an effort to express his utmost gratitude in person, so neither of their guests took offense that he was now resting in his
room.
The host and the two guests sat down; beside the three of them, no one else was occupying the huge dining table. Fei Xingye had made sure that he would be seated at the bottom of the table, while all the other family members occupied another table, their dishes nowhere near as sumptuous as what was
served at Xia Fei’s table.
“Try some, These are called Pearl Emerald Bamboo Shoots. Even this elder has only eaten this no more than a dozen times in my life. It’s simply exquisite,” Fuchen wiped his mouth and said.
Xia Fei did not stand on ceremony and immediately got himself a bowl of the bamboo shoots soup. He noted how dense the Pearl Emerald Bamboo Shoots soup was, with every drop appearing as round as an actual pearl, slippery yet silent.
*slurp*
Xia Fei directly quaffed the bowl of soup. Fuchen and Fei Xingye, who were sitting beside him, lamented the wasted bits, to have not actually savored such precious food and have merely eaten it so recklessly… Now, he was chomping on roast mutton.
Immediately after he emptied that bowl of soup, Xia Fei felt a refreshing clarity. A strange energy began swimming inside his body, nursing it.
This was the food supplement Fuchen had been full of praise about. Slowly and gently, it lacked any of the violent reaction Xia Fei felt when he drank medicines. It was clearly beneficial to his body.
Xia Fei drank three bowls worth of the soup until Fuchen finally could not stand it anymore and joined in on the feasting. The two snatched up food to eat as they went, a plate for one, a bow! for the other. In no time at all, the food laid out on the table was polished off!
The Fef’s old and young, who were seated at the side, stare dumbfoundedly at this sight. The two guests were said to be legendary experts; was this how legendary experts dined?
Night, in a narrow alley.
Both Fuchen and Xia Fei did not enjoy seeing the bleary-eyed crying of the Fei family, despite them all being filled with gratitude. As such, the two left the first chance they got. Xia Fei, of course, made sure that he was paid every pearl he ought to receive.
“So how was it? Isn’t it great to follow this old man around? Besides the good food and drink, you even managed to eam a bit of money. If you must know, the Fei family is under my protection. If this were anyone else, I wouldn’t go even if they offered an obscene amount of money,” said Fuchen happily, a
hand rubbing his bulging stomach.
Xia Fei nodded. “Spiritualists sure are a different breed, respected everywhere they go.”
Fuchen shook his head. “No, that’s not right. We are Orthodox Spiritualists. Remember: There’s a fundamental difference between us and the average Spiritualists, and that’s they’re all just cheap imitations.”
Xia Fei lit a cigarette and said nothing in response. Fuchen seemed to be very proud of his identity, but Xia Fei did not share this sentiment. Black cat or white, a good cat was one that could catch mice. Be it a regular Spiritualist, an Orthodox Spiritualist, or something else, this was hardly important to
him.
For three whole days, Xia Fei and Fuchen went everywhere on Golden Eagle 19, dining on good food. Of course, they ate the most quality ingredients. Xia Fei could feel his body recovering speedily with each passing day.
Just that the price of the food was astronomical, and Xia Fei would foot the bill every time, which lightened his purse at a surprising rate.
‘Everything comes at a price.’ A believer of the price theory like Xia Fei, of course, knew this very well. If he attempted to use precious medicinal ingredients to heal himself, he would most likely be spending just as much, and it would even harm his body immensely.
Now that he could rely on food to nourish his body, it was akin to advancing while asleep. Though he spent a lot on this, Xia Fei still benefitted greatly from it.
Nightfall.
Xia Fei and Fuchen sat on a rooftop garden and chatted while sharing a pot of tea. They exchanged interesting stories and anecdotes with each other, and before they knew it, midnight came and went.
Lifting his head up into the sky, Xia Fei could not help but sigh. He had no idea how Avril was doing right now or how his comrades in the Law Realm were faring. He did not know if they had already recovered or if they were still recovering.
Fuchen sneaked a peek at Xia Fei and asked, “Something on your mind?”
Xia Fei nodded. These few days he spent with Fuchen had made him realize that the other was actually a decent person. He was merely a bit overly enthusiastic when it came to food, but he actually kept a low profile, going from places to places like any average person. He did not seem to care about the
conflict between warriors and Spiritualists, almost as if he was detached from everything.
“Actually, I’m not from the Alpha Universe.” Xia Fei admitted this.
‘The moment he said those words, Radix began to rebut his claim, “How can you say that? Your grandfather ultimately hailed from the Aurora Clan, so you can be considered one quarter Alphite.”
“Ah, so you’re an Aurorean.” Fuchen nodded.
*Shock*
The expression on Xia Fei’s face changed instantly. Both Radix and he did not know that Fuchen could hear the mental communication between them! Did that mean that the conversation they had over the last few days had all been heard by Fuchen?
Fuchen frowned. “Are you surprised? I’m an Orthodox Spiritualist, so of course I can hear the conversation between you and your soul servant. In our line, having a soul servant is very normal, and you only have one.”
Radix gritted his teeth. “I’m no slave. I’m a Golden Sword Guard of the Aurora Clan.”
Fuchen thought nothing of this. “What’s the difference? You’re still serving Xia Fei to the best of your abilities, attached to his weapon. Any day he feels upset, he can just extinguish your life just like that.”
Radix pouted, no longer saying a word as he wallowed in silence.
Fuchen continued speaking. “Tell me about what’s troubling you. While this elder is still living, I may be of help to you. We Orthodox Spiritualists are great in every way, except for our lack of immortality; perhaps it’s because an Unrestricted Soul Spirit Mark is too powerful, and it affects the universe’s
balance.”
Thus, Xia Fei told Fuchen his experience in the Law Realm, including the conflict with the Inverse and his grandfather’s origins. He did not leave any detail out.
Fuchen gave a slight nod after he was done listening, then closed his eyes, and contemplated.
A good half of an hour passed before Fuchen slowly opened his eyes. “Aurorean. Quite interesting.”
Smiling, Fuchen got up, headed into a room, and said, “We’re leaving Golden Eagle 19 first thing tomorrow momin;
“Where are we going?” asked Xia Fei curiously. In the past two days where the two spent going on their gastronomy journey, not once had Fuchen revealed his intention of leaving, yet he had actually decided to leave after tonight’s talk?
“Since you have the blood of Auroreans running through your veins, you of course have to make your return to the clan,” said Fuchen matter-of-factly. “As for that woman you speak of, I have a pretty good guess on who she is..”
