Chapter 68 – Song Lin’s Demise

Warning… There will be some scenes that will disturb the readers so, proceed with caution.

Song Lin slipped out of the banquet to go to the meeting place written in the letter. Her heart palpitated and the sweet anticipation of seeing her desired man was making her dizzy.

She stood near the backyard of the Winter Moon pagoda. Because no one was roaming outside and the servants in the palace were mostly stationed in the ground near the banquet, there wasn't anyone who would stop her from going there or look at her suspiciously.

In addition, there wouldn't be anyone around if there was anything bound to happen in that pagoda. Song Lin impatiently looked to the side and cold sweat started to trail behind her back.

"Why is there still no one coming?" She muttered to herself.

In order to not be too conspicuous of this meeting, she deliberately left her personal servants somewhere else and didn't let anyone accompany her. She was confident that no one would dare cause any mischief inside the palace and against her family.

But Song Lin forgot that in the entire Capital, no in the entire Zheng empire, the most treacherous and frightening place was the Imperial Palace where all dubious and horrible incidents always takes place inside it.

Of course, there weren't reports of this nor was there blatant rumors spreading about these incidents as it was always covered up by the royal family thus, no matter how large or small the incident was, there wouldn't be any way for the people outside the palace to know of it unless the royal family allows it to be spread.

Worried that she had mistaken the time of their meeting, Song Lin wanted to go back to the banquet to see whether Yu Fangzhu already disappeared from the place to see her in the Winter Moon pagoda.

As she was about to leave, she heard a crack behind her. Her heart sank and abruptly turned around to see who and where did that noise come from.

Just as she turned, a hoarse voice entered her ears, "Song Young Lady most not be too anxious to leave. I have arrived according to what you arranged. Why leave now?"

Song Lin's face darkened from anger and shock. She coldly asked, "What is Seventh Prince doing here?"

Laughing like he had heard something funny from her question, Prince Jing walked close to her, making her step backward, "What is Song Young Lady saying? I received a letter from you saying you wanted to meet me. As a gentleman, how can I refuse a young lady's request?"

He eyed her thoughtfully, liking what he was seeing. Although, through Yu Fangzhu's eyes, Song Lin didn't look any different from the plain background in painting it was different from Prince Jing, who liked anyone for as long as they have a hole he could penetrate to and use for as long as he wanted.

Hearing his words, Song Lin frowned and slowly blinked her eyes, "What is His Highness Prince Jing talking about? What letter?"

She said it so quickly and didn't even stutter thus her voice sounded breathless, arousing Prince Jing's lust.

He revealed a smirk on his lips and didn't rush to take out the letter that was inside his sleeve. He raised the letter in the air and leveled his eyes to her, "Isn't this the letter you wrote to invite me out here for a rendezvous?"

"Prince Jing, please do not slander me. How can I possibly write a letter to you without my knowledge? There must someone else with the same surname as I who wanted to meet you." She tried to explain, wishing she could get away from that place.

Her heart was caught inside her throat after realizing that someone tricked her. She was no fool with this kind of method to dirty one's reputation since she saw her aunt and mother use this method to the females that they didn't like, just like what they tried to do to Xiaofei and knew that if people were to know of this matter, her face couldn't be seen outside of their residence because of shame.

Another, who was Prince Jing? He was the seventh prince of the Zheng empire. And even though he was a prince, he had several flaws and the society didn't have a good impression of him, unlike Yu Fangzhu.

It wasn't even a rumor that Prince Jing was a lecherous man who was always seen in a brothel and wasn't lacking women on his arms as he would flaunt his women publicly. Not only that, but he was also a wastrel and would always use the Imperial Treasury for himself. Thus, many didn't like him albeit appearing amiable and cordial towards him to show respect to him since he was of royal blood.

However, at this moment, Song Lin didn't want to show any respect or cordiality to him when the first thing she wanted to do when her eyes landed on his figure was to run.

Raising his eyebrow to show his displeasure at her attitude to him, Prince Jing wasn't angered but felt interested in this young lady in front of him.

"If what you say is really the truth and another young lady with the same surname as you wrote the letter then, may I know the reason why Song Young Lady is here?" He said without rushing.

Song Lin gritted her teeth.

How could this happen? She thought to herself.

Prince Jing wasn't supposed to be the one who should appear in the Winter Moon pagoda with her but Yu Fangzhu. Prince Jing's question also bored a hold in her heart as she couldn't come up with an intelligible response to it.

Prince Jing's eyes lit up before curving slightly. He walked a few large steps as she was deep in thought and in no time, there was only a foot of gap in between them.

"Prince Jing… This…" Song Lin finally felt the fear rising up her stomach, "I think someone tricked me into going here. That letter must also be someone's plan to scheme against me." She reasoned out, hoping that the bastard could let her go and understand her meaning.

However, how could Prince Jing let go of this chance to taste the young lady before her?

He had been dying of boredom ever since he entered the banquet that was already going on for several hours now. As a man that has many desires, when he saw the young ladies seated in the hall, he couldn't help but lick his lips.

Especially after seeing that peerless beautiful face that belonged to the black-dressed young lady. He didn't know who she was but only knew that she belonged to the Lin family. Alas, he couldn't take that woman as his since the Lin family was currently untouchable according to his father.

With no chance at getting to taste that young lady, Prince Jing was glad that he had received a letter from a young lady telling him to meet with her behind Winter Moon pagoda.

Of course, Prince Jing understood Song Lin's meaning that someone schemed against her. He was also annoyed that he was caught up with the devices of someone but maybe due to the alcohol he had to drink during the banquet, all the reasonings in his head went down the drain.

He felt his lower half body heating up and his muddled head was filled with more dirty thoughts upon sensing a woman was before him.

"Alright, Song Young Lady. No need to explain more…" He said.

Song Lin's eyes lit up and before she could release a sigh of relief and turn around to leave, two large slippery hands reached out to hold her.

Shocked at this, Song Lin wanted to scream but her mouth was forced to swallow her shout as disgustingly thick lips covered her own.

Tears started to pool her eyes and she wanted to get away from him and scream for help hut Prince Jing was ruthless and punched her in the face and gut, making her lose her consciousness from the pain.

Without her resistance, Prince Jing was happier to indulge his desire to her.

After several minutes, Prince Jing got his body off her and fixed his robe. He made sure that nothing seemed off of his appearance. Looking down at the still unconscious young lady, he had some regrets that he didn't get to do more and had to finish quickly to not raise anyone's suspicions.

When he was done fixing his robes, Prince Jing flicked his sleeves as he turned to leave. He didn't even give the young lady on the ground with her dress ripped a second glance.

However, because of his mistake of not looking at her carefully, Prince Jing didn't notice that the young lady was not breathing anymore and a bruise was starting to form around her neck. Beside her hand, a crumped letter slipped out of her sleeve.

The banquet was still ongoing and the people inside the hall still didn't have an idea that an incident had already taken place somewhere in the palace.

While Yu Fangzhu was clueless about the trouble coming in his way.
