"You better prepare a good, reasonable explanation for me, of why did you burn the diary!" Torak's anger was well expressed through his voice that could be heard from behind the door. He was too angry, focusing only on Serefina, and for what he demanded of her. He didn't realize that Raine was standing outside the door with the two guards, listening to their conversation from behind the door outside.
"Why did I do that?" Serefina reiterated Torak's question, there was a hint of apathy in the way she talked. "Oh, of course it was done to save the both of you from some unnecessary interference! With this being done, I can assure you that from now on, no more shadow warrior would ever latch on your mate! Isn't that what you want?"
"But you can find another way to cut the ties that bound them! You don't have to burn that book!" said Torak exasperatedly. A loud sound followed after. It was a sound of something breaking. That sound came from the thing that was thrown by the Alpha. Apparently venting his anger through the things near him, was a coping mechanism that he chose to battle his frustration.
Raphael, the Beta, did his best to contain the situation by holding back the Alpha. He knew that the Alpha was at the peak of his fury. Exterminating the witch out of a momentary anger, would be an unfortunate accident for Torak. If the Alpha slipped and ended up killing the witch, he would regret it so terribly. For he still needed her service to treat Raine's condition.
However, Serefina's tongue was never tied to anything. Like pouring some gasoline on fire, her words were fueling his rage, and worsened the situation. "While we're right on this topic. I just want to inform you that the teacher, with whom I arranged a schooling program for Raine just before she went missing, that person would come and start the program tomorrow." She said blatantly.
"NO!" Torak roared. "YOU ARE HERE TO TREAT HER CONDITION! NOT TO CONTROL MY MATE'S LIFE!" At this point, Torak was losing it. He shoved Raphael's body. With ease, he set himself free from his Beta's strong restraint. He moved towards Serefina while baring his canines. His rage nearly consumed him.
How badly Torak wanted to smash the witch's head, so that it'll help her think properly, and tactfully. Because whenever the witch opened her mouth, it was only to upset the people near her. But then, before Torak's anger blinded him completely, a voice that he had grown to love, echoed inside the room. A pleasant scent that he could never resist, filled the air.
Her tiny arms circled around his waist as she buried her face on his chest. "I will do it." She repeated her words softly. "I want to study, and go to college." She added.
Meanwhile, Called waved his hands towards the two guards who followed Raine, ordering them to leave. After all they were only humans. It'll get harder, and complicated if ever they saw the beast side of Torak that was so close onto surfacing. Quickly, Calleb closed the door. He was puzzled when he watched how easy their Luna calmed the Alpha's anger.
"Do you want to do it?" Instinctively, Torak hugged Raine's petite figure in his arms, caressing her back so affectionately.
As reply, she nodded and raised her head to look at Torak. "I want to do it."
The guardian angel came upon her decision, because she really wanted to grow. She didn't do this because Serefina provoked her into taking the path that she had arranged for her. Perhaps Serefina did indeed affect her decision for a little bit, pushing her to get determined, and go out of her shell.
However, out of many things that Serefina had done to her, even all the mean words that she had said to her. Raine just couldn't forgive the witch for what she had done to her mother's diary. She would always remember that.
"Is it because of her?" Torak cupped Raine's face, and stared into her eyes deeply. Looking for any signs of reluctance or lies in them. But there, he could only find her eagerness.
"No." Raine shook her head, her lips curved into a small smile. "I really want to do this." Despite her sudden change of behavior, Torak preferred this side of her far more than the one when she rejected him just earlier.
Her rejection created this fear in him. The fear was so real to him, that he thought Raine didn't want him anymore. It was new to him to feel that way, so he didn't know how to handle that kind of emotion.
If it was someone else, he would've used any possible way, in order to make things happen the way he wanted it to be. But he couldn't do that to his mate. For Torak, it would've felt like getting thousands of stabs from someone in the most ruthless way, if ever he saw Raine forcedly do something she didn't want to.
"Are you sure?" asked him again. He needed more assurance to be completely at ease. "You don't need to do something that you don't wish to do, my love." He caressed her cheeks gently as his eyebrows furrowed, showing his true concern for his mate.
On the other side of the room, Srefina rolled her eyes while Raphael glared at her for her nasty gesture.
Serfina's negligence on her duty to keep Raine safe, and Raine's disappearing incident, were things that really pissed Torak off. The Alpha was absolutely disinclined of having anything to do with the witch if it wasn't for the sake of Raine.
If ever staying in the city, and putting her away from as many lycanthropes as possible was enough to keep her healthy, he would be willing to do that instead. And then, he would kick Serefina out of this house this very second. Unfortunately, Raine's condition wasn't that simple.
"Alright, consider this settled then." Serefina clapped her hands, and smirked triumphantly. "Your teacher will come tomorrow. Study hard so that you can enter a good university."
"Hold on, I just agreed with the matter of her schooling strategy. About university, we will talk about that later." Torak said forbiddingly. "Before her teacher comes, give his profile to Raphael. That way he can run a background check on them."
Serefina had arranged everything for Raine without consulting anything with him. As long as Raine was safe, and sound, he could endure the witch's overbearing way of handling things, but not this time. Torak would like to ensure everything that happened around his mate to be undoubtedly within his observation. In other words, he must know every single thing in detail.
"You didn't need to do that." Serefina scoffed. She didn't like it when her work was being inspected, making her feel like an incompetent doofus. She disliked any actions that would lower her excellences, and competences. "Besides, Raine had met him before."
Torak turned his head towards Raine and looked at her. "Do you like the teacher?"
Raine indeed had met with Aero, the teacher that Serefina hired. But her reply was unexpected. "No." Raine answered truthfully. "I don't like him."
"Alright." Torak nodded in understanding. He then turned his head towards Serefina, whose eyes had widened. She was annoyed beyond words the moment she heard Raine's answer.
"You can find another teacher." added Torak.
Meanwhile, Raine nuzzled her head on Torak's chest as she blinked her eyes at the witch innocently.
