THE LOVE OF A LYCAN

Chapter 667: Will do more harm than good

Chapter 667: Will do more harm than good

Jedrek was in a remote place. It was near a site where fairies lived. A place that was protected by fairies' magic. A place that no one knew, except a handful of people. The people whose loyalty didn't need to be questioned, that it would only be to him, and will always be to him. Jedrek was certain of those people. Eaton was one of them.

Their history went way back to when Eaton was still Janus's Beta. But then, at some point a long time ago in the past, Eaton pledged his loyalty to Jedrek. Janus's mate, Diana, was one of the solid reasons why he decided to stop putting his loyalty to Janus. At that time, Diana was pregnant with baby Kace, and Janus almost lost her. He went mad. From that moment then, he realized that Janus had gone insane.

"The mind reader was wondering, how long you will keep the girl unconscious. Because he needs to make some sort of preparation, if you mean to keep her in this state longer." Eaton was not a young lycan anymore, but his observant nature was as sharp as ever. Whatever it would be, Jedrek would always put Eaton's judgement over things, onto his consideration. How much Jedrek trusted him.

"There will be a side effect too if you continue to keep her inside the illusion." said Eaton again. He glanced at Lilac, looking at her contorted face. She must be fighting to break through the door right now, under her unconsciousness.

After thinking it through, Jedrek said, "For as long as possible." He glanced at Lilac for a good brief seconds, before he took his coat and walked out of the room "Keep your eyes around this place."

"Will do, Your Majesty," Eaton answered solemnly. There was a trace of sadness in his eyes when he watched Jedrek's back from behind, then followed the Alpha king to walk along the hallway. Eaton had known Jedrek since the first day he was brought to this world. All the way back to those era when it was all still sun, and rainbow for the Donovans family.

However, everything changed when Diana got pregnant with Kace, the youngest son of the Donovans. At that time, Diana's condition got worse over time.

"Jedrek," Eaton called him by his name. The Alpha king stopped, they were on the porch of this two-story house. "How long are you going to continue this thing? You have to stop this, before all of the situation that we are facing now, gets out of hand. If you keep these on, it will eventually kill you."

Jedrek looked back to face Eaton. He shook his head. "This is not the time yet. I have to ensure something."

"You know that there would be no such thing as the right time for this. You must take action, execute the decision that you take." Eaton hardened his gaze. Long before Jedrek ascended to the throne and reign, he was just a boy in Eaton's eye. Time truly had hardened this boy's heart. "There's no more time left, and you know that. The guardian angel is here, regardless of your plan about getting rid of her."

The stubbornness surfaced in Jedrek's eyes. Eaton's face fell the moment he saw it. He knew right away that whatever he said now, would not be listened to.

"Tell the mind reader to get to Kace first before Maximus does." Jedrek pat Eaton's shoulder. "And make sure to find the guardian angel who is with Kace."

Eaton narrowed his eyes, wondering what the Alpha king's plan was. "What would you do if the mind reader finds the guardian angel?"

"I will tell you once I see the three guardian angels." Jedrek didn't stay longer. He had said what he needed to say to Eaton. He walked away, ignoring Eaton's puzzled expression, and helpless gaze.

"I hope you know what you are doing, but most of it, I hope that your decision is not something that you would regret later." Eaton muttered to himself while watching Jedrek's back.

"So you're saying that the Alpha king wants me to hunt his younger brother, before Maximus can get to him first?" said the mind reader. He entered the room where Lilac was still sleeping uncomfortably. He looked at her. "She is quite a fighter you know," he said when he walked over to Lilac's bed side to put a full stem of lilac beside her bed.

"As expected, she is indeed the Alpha's mate," Eaton followed where the mind reader's eyes laid on, there he saw Lilac squirmed anxiously, just like someone who was having a nightmare. "And, yes. He wants you to go after Kace."

The mind reader crossed his arms. He looked at Eaton with a disapproving look. "Jedrek's mind is totally a mess, even I can't read his mind at this point. He keeps changing his plan from time to time. I can't figure him out."

"Maybe he did that, so that you will not pry into his mind." Eaton shrugged his shoulder. He didn't need to be a mind reader to tell how completely messed up Jedrek's mind right now. "He told you many times to stay away from his head, but you never listened."

"Aren't we his confidants???? The mind reader now looked offended. "Why didn't he share his plans with us?"

"With all the experiences that he had been through, it's understandable for him to turn out to be the way he is now. In fact, I think it's only natural." said Eaton.

Upset, the mind reader looked at Eaton with disdain, "For once, stop taking his side, and stop justifying his every action."

"You're right," Eaton nodded. He wiped the sweat on Lilac's forehead as he talked. "I must agree with you that his decisions are not always the best. But, I'm sure that he had thought about things thoroughly, before he decided what the best option to go with, for the situation was. After all, desperate times call for desperate measures."

Eaton believed that Jedrek was desperately trying to put everything in the right place. But, understanding was not one of the mind reader's traits. Knowing really well how stubborn Eaton was, the mind reader threw his hands up in the air. He refused to continue the argument between them. "Alright, I will not argue with you about this."

Eaton had lost his mate due to the deal that Janus made with the devil. However, long before that, he always thought of Jedrek as his own. The bond between them was built because Jedrek grew up under his watch, especially since the time when Janus was too busy finding the cure for Diana.

Even though Jedrek grew up accustomed to go with him to most of the places that Janus visited, but the both of them rarely spoke to each other. The communication between the father, and son became nothing more than a formal greeting. Jedrek would always stick with Eaton.

"I'll go now," said the mind reader. He sounded irritated. The thoughts of going to a completely different realm didn't really thrill him. "So, what am I supposed to do after I find Kace?"

"You must find the guardian angel who is with him," Eaton replied.

"Tell me something I don't know. Yes, of course, I know that already!" The mind reader rolled his eyes dramatically. "What I want to know is, what am I supposed to do after I find Kace, and locate where the guardian angel is? Should I bring her here? Kill her? No matter what, she is his brother's mate. Her death in our hand will do more harm than good."
