Chapter 684: Heading toward their destination
Chapter 684: Heading toward their destination
Serefina suggested that it would be better if Torak brought just a few people with him. Just the people that he needed. It would make the journey more effective, and easier. What the witch meant was really just a handful of people. However, who would have thought that Torak would bring a whole pack with him?!
Aside from Torak's Beta, Gamma, there were Alpha Romulus and Alpha Chris, and one warrior named Jack, whose task would be to look after Raine. There was no way that Torak would leave her side, it was impossible, and it would never happen.
Apparently each of the Alpha would bring their second in command along with their own people. In total, there were up to two hundred people who would come with them.
"Have you lost your mind?!" Serefina shrieked. "Are you trying to declare a war with your brother?!"
Torak frowned while he opened the door for Raine. The girl gladly crawled inside, didn't have even a slight interest in the argument that was bound to happen between the witch, and her mate. Stuck in between the two arguing creatures was the last thing she would want to happen to her.
"Listen, we're going there to talk. Why do you think I would want to declare a war with him?" Torak leaned his body against the car, facing the fuming witch.
"Can't you see? Are you blind!? How many people are you bringing with you?!" Serefina was furious. She could feel her head now hurt because of the pressure, and rage. It was either Torak really didn't know, or he just intentionally wanted to give the witch a hard time.
"Your brother is not an Alpha! He doesn't have a horde of people on his disposal like you! After all these years, you're finally meeting him. Although it was going to be under bad circumstances of the issues we're having at hand. Now, if you're going to show up with the whole pack being present to meet him, there's no doubt that he would've fled miles away. Long before you could talk to him!"
Said the witch. She was exasperated, and frustrated. It was never an easy task to deal with one Donovan. And then, she realized that she would deal with three at the same time. The time would come, and it was near.
Inside the car, Raine chewed her marshmallow, sharing it with Calleb, who was sitting behind the steering wheel.
"How long do you think it will last?" said Calleb, he was nodding towards the argumentation between Serefina, and Torak.
"Hm," Raine swallowed her marshmallow. "Ten minutes."
"I said two minutes. Torak will turn a deaf ear for sure." said Calleb while shoving a marshmallow into his mouth. "I bet on my one month salary."
Yet, after Calleb finished saying what he wanted to say, he got a hit on the back of his head. It was from Raphael, who was standing outside of the car. He stretched out his hand through the open window beside Calleb.
"Do not influence her bad things!" Raphael glared at the Gamma. Raine chuckled when she heard that.
"Damn lycan! Their remarkable hearing is unbelievable!" Calleb cursed under his breath while rubbing the back of his head.
"But you're a lycan too!" Raine chimed in between her laugh.
On the other side of the car, Torak was still arguing with the witch. He said curtly, "He has a centaur with him. I wouldn't risk my mate's safety on the assumption that he would be friendly with me." Torak opened the car door. He didn't let Serefina snap back at him.

Under the sunlight Jedrek watched Lilac's hair as it turned back into its initial black color. He touched it, and felt the softness of the strands.
On his side, Lilac was still fast asleep. Unlike her usual self, she now looked exhausted. And in her unawareness state, the girl snuggled closer to Jedrek's embrace. She was searching for warmth, when the cold wind came in through the open carriage window. Realizing the source of her uncomfortable feeling, Jedrek closed that window shut.
Meanwhile, their journey to the southern region would take a week.
Actually, it would be easier if all of them shifted. They could've run in their beast form in order to shorten the journey. But in Lilac's current condition, Jedrek didn't think it would be convenient for her. Beside all that, he needed some time to think. And the fact that being with his mate could calm the beast within, it also helped him to think clearly. Since the beast now stopped nagging at him.

"The Apricity River froze again," Lydia said. "I think we need to prepare ourselves for something unpredictable."
Kace's expression turned grim when he heard that. The last time that river froze was when everything turned into chaos. The death of the shadow warriors, the extinction of the guardian angels. And on top of it, was the war with the devil that followed at the end.
"You know what that means, right?" Lydia glanced at the lycan beside her.
Yet, Kace didn't answer her. He was drowned in his thoughts.
"If the war breaks out, then the best thing for you to do is to return to your brother. To join forces with them. The devil won't just let you go. They want your mate, and they will get what they want no matter what. And realistically speaking, you don't have power in your hand, except for the centaurs, and a few shifters." Lydia waved her hand to the group behind her.
"I have my own force," said Kace grimly. He stared at Hope. She was talking to Bree, walking in front of him.
"What kind of force?" Lydia asked curiously. "I've never heard that you ever created a pack on your own."
"No, I don't have a pack." Kace shook his head. His expression was devoid from any emotion when he talked. "You can say whatever you want. But for me, it was friends. I have reliable friends."
After saying that, Kace walked ahead. He picked up Bree, and sat her on his shoulder. The little girl squalled happily when he did that. Lydia was left alone pondering her own thoughts.

"This is my first time in the northern realm," said Calleb to Raine who was beside him. Torak, and Raphael were talking to the other two Alphas, before they crossed the sea to reach the sacred place. The one place where Kace was, according to Serefina who told them that information.
On the other hand, Raine didn't really hear what Calleb was saying. Her eyes were fixed at the strange creatures near them.
That creature looked like a horse, in the color of white, with fat yellow stripes on its stomach.
"Torak bought two ships for us." Serefina approached them. It looked like she just lost another argument with Torak.
The witch hated having to come back to this place. She hated it even more when they had to bring so many people that attracted the other creatures' attention.
Torak would say it was for their own safety. Because based on his argument, it was far better than to sneak around inside this foreign land, then have to take a detour, and a longer journey in order to do all that. It would've saved them way more time to just go all out, and ended this journey as soon as possible.
Raine laughed upon hearing that, and rewarded a glare from Serefina. Recently the witch was a little bit cranky.
