THE LOVE OF A LYCAN

Chapter 685: Arrived

Chapter 685: Arrived

"We're almost there." said Tordoff. He was approaching Lilac. She was by herself, walking, and touching all the leaves that she could reach.

"Hmm," Lilac hummed, responding to Tordoff. "I can feel it too. There's a big city with an enormous gate surrounding the whole place." She could feel it beneath her barefoot.

Sometimes Tordoff forgot that Lilac was not just a normal girl, that she had this unique ability. "Right. This is the second largest city in the realm. Although the castle wasn't as big as the other one, it's still a decent place for a King to reside."

Lilac glanced to where Jedrek was.

"It is indeed a decent place." said Lilac, agreeing with Tordoff. They stepped out of the dense forest that had been a safe shelter for them for quite a while.

The sun was shining brightly, and Lilac was basking under its warm light. At that moment, her beauty was exposed to every eye there was. She was heavenly. There was something with her irresistible charm that was so captivating to every soul.

And Jedrek was not an exception.

He realized that Lilac was a rare beauty. But he had never seen her this way. She looked so majestic with the way she carried herself.

She was fierce like a fireball, but gentle as a flower at the same time. And Jedrek was anything but blind. He was aware of it, even from the first time he saw her. He started to accept the idea of her as a whole during that one year he put her into a deep sleep. But then, throughout their six days journey to the southern gates his understanding got deepened. He was now fully awakened about her.

Meanwhile the certain guardian angel was unaware of the way her mate valued her now. In fact she felt otherwise, that Jedrek didn't treat her differently than any other days. They were barely talking to each other like usual, although she had to admit that this time the tension between them was not as intense as their first meeting.

It seemed that they had come into a mutual understanding of how they needed each other to win the war against the devil. They had come to a realization that there was no time to waste on some trivial arguments, or denial upon the bond between them.

There was a city right below the hill where Lilac was standing now. Her eyes fixed at the view of that city down below. It was a crowded city that was protected by a great wall. It was so majestic that it looked as if the wall itself seemingly touched the sky. By the look of it, the wall was indeed a strong fortress. It served an important purpose of protecting the people inside from any possible attacks.

But, she was sure that this stronghold wouldn't stand still against the force that was coming along with the approaching war. Once the war broke out, the stronghold and its greatness wouldn't last long. And the war would come very soon in the near future.

"Beautiful isn't it?" Tordoff said softly .His eyes were fixed on Lilac, instead of the beautiful city under the hill.

"Yes," Lilac agreed. She watched the city glimmering under the sunlight.

Tordoff stared at Lilac, unconsciously admiring her beauty. It was rather shown in his eyes, and the look on his face. But the guardian angel didn't even realize the look that the general gave to her. However, they were not alone. In fact, there was one more person who was aware of it all.

"Tordoff," Jedrek called his general, and snapped him back to reality. "I want you to go ahead, and announce our arrival."

Tordoff must obey this direct order. "Yes, Your Majesty," he said. He took one last glance at Lilac, before he departed to carry out his duty.

After Tordoff shifted into his beast, he went ahead of them. And then, Jedrek also continued to march towards the city. The Alpha king didn't need to tell Lilac of what to do. He knew she was following the group. She was somewhere way behind, walking as far as possible from him. Although Jedrek initially had a lot of things to say to her, it was different now.

He somehow found himself so helpless. It was so strange even to himself, for being this way. He was unable to utter even a single word to her, let alone to ask her anything. He didn't want her, but at the same time, she was all that he needed. And he knew for sure that things would go even worse, starting from now.

"The two gates to Tartarus have been opened, the Apricity River froze for the second time, and all the guardian angels are here." said Calleb, listing all the things that had happened. "Torak is the most wanted person in the Fulbright City, and now the castle has been destroyed?" Calleb shook his head dramatically. "I don't believe this. Could things get any worse than this?"

However, before he could get someone to answer his question, the Gamma already knew the answer to his own question. Realized what they were facing, he knew better that things would only get worse than this.

Calleb kept on babbling as they walked through what must have been a village at some point. But, it was now far from something that could be called a village. That place was now only rubbles, and ruins. It seemed that the witches, and the vampires indeed came to this place. They destroyed it when they realized that the centaurs, and the villagers had fled.

Now, all the lycanthropes, and werewolves split up around the area. They were looking for something that could possibly be used as a clue to find the exact direction to where the centaurs were heading.

But, the interesting question for them was that if the creatures who were responsible for these mess around the area weren't able to find anything, would it be possible for them to find something? Anything at all? The thing was that the people who resided there had long been gone along with their untraceable scent.

"Should we build a tent, Alpha?" Alpha Romulus asked Torak. The sun was almost set, and they should call it a day. Torak looked around. After he was sure about the surroundings, he decided that they would be safe there, enough to make a basecamp. "We will rest here."

"Raine, I need you to come with me." Serefina approached Raine, and Torak.

"Hold on. Where are you taking her?" asked Torak while narrowing his eyes.

Serefina rolled her eyes dramatically upon seeing Torak's protectiveness. The witch still couldn't get used to the way he treated Raine. Despite the fact that they were currently surrounded by his own people, and that Raine was not a scaredy cat like she was a year ago.

"There," said Serefina while pointing her finger at the village square, not too far from them.

At the village square, there was a big podium made of white stone. The crack on it was visible to see, and it was splitting it in half.

"What are you going to do there?" Torak could see there were still some visible stains of blood stuck on the surface of the white stone.

"I want to see if she could use, or perform somehow her power. The war is on our doorstep, extremely near to us. And it's coming to us really fast, and she needs to grasp on her power quickly," said Serefina.

Raine realized that what Serefina just said was right. To make the situation better, she tried to comfort her overprotective mate. "It's okay, I will come back right away. You can build a tent for us, while waiting for me." said Raine sweetly. She tipped on her toe, and landed a kiss on Torak's chin.

Torak was unsure about leaving Raine with Serefina. "I will go with you." He wrapped his hand around Raine's waist, as they walked with her towards the ruined podium.
