Chapter 77 - Self Control?!
Chapter 77 – Self Control?!
It didn't take long when the servants arrived to help me remedy my headache and brought water to wash my face. They also brought clothes for me to wear. Although they didn't speak a word, I couldn't look at them in the eye. I wondered what they were thinking, that I stayed in Hugo's quarters.
They told me that Hugo ordered them that I should stay in his chambers to rest. Hence, when they left, I was alone with myself and the memories I had last night.
"I don't want to drink anymore," I mumbled with a frown, pulling up the quilt over half of my lower face while glaring at the ceiling. "No wonder Alice was like a different person. I was like a different person last night too…"
Not that what I told Hugo wasn't the truth. Actually, all the words I told him… were the words I couldn't say while sober. I was just too worried about many factors. But last night, I had this unlimited source of courage that I just uttered everything without thinking twice.
"I'm a disappointment," I told myself and shut my eyes, only to snap them open when someone barged in the door.
"My baby sister!"
I flinched and gazed at the door on instinct. There, Alice and Cora looked around before their eyes met mine. They instantly trudged inside and perched on the side of the bed. I stiffened when Alice bobbed her head to examine me.
"Alice, you're scaring Rinnie." Cora, who was standing near the end of the bed with her arms crossed, glanced at Alice. "This is all your fault, you know? I told you many times to control yourself."
Alice frowned as she looked at me apologetically. "My baby sister, I'm really sorry about last night."
"It's… fine." I pulled the quilt down lightly and sported a smile. "Although I feel a bit awful when I woke up, the medicine the servants gave me this morning, and the breakfast helped."
"Still… you can't get up." Alice sighed heavily as her eyes glimmered with helplessness. "I'm sure you must've had a tough night seeing you are paralyzed on the bed. Are you hurt anywhere?"
"Rinnie, just tell me if that rascal didn't even consider your feelings. I will go to him right now and discipline him about women."
My brows furrowed as I darted my eyes between them. Actually, I could get up and even jump as much as I could. After taking the medicine, the pain in my head receded. The only reason I was stuck on this bed was that I was thinking about what happened between Hugo and me.
So… why were they so worried.
"Was I supposed to get paralyzed after drinking too much?" I asked with raised brows, seeing the two of them tilt their heads. I carefully assisted myself up, casting them a look.
"I'm really fine after taking the medicine," I reassured with a smile. "I'm just staying on the bed because… I am reflecting on my actions last night."
Alice narrowed her eyes as she leaned her face forward. I only leaned back on instinct while she scrutinized me. Meanwhile, Cora also sat down on the edge of the mattress while staring at me.
"Rinnie, I know the medicine given to you is for your headache. But we're saying is there." Cora puckered her lips and pointed at my lap. "Is it fine?"
"My lap?" I squeezed my thigh and nodded. "Yes, they are."
"Not that…" Alice frowned and widened her eyes. "We're talking about your… core. The heart of your femininity."
"The heart of my…" my eyes dilated in horror as I froze. So that was what they were talking about. I knew they were blunt and honest people, but I had been avoiding such a topic since earlier and been cautious around the servants, just in case they would mention my night with Hugo.
"Rinnie…" Alice sighed and reached for my hand, patting it gently like a mother. "With your petite body, we know it must've been difficult for you. After all, werewolves are… savages in bed and their size is far bigger than a normal human gentleman."
"That's right. Although we're relieved that you are alive, we're still worried since you had to deal with that rascal's pent-up heat. We actually thought he destroyed you."
"…" I was confused. Their worries and relief were genuine as if they had expected the worse before barging into this place. Could I really talk to them about it? I pressed my lips into a thin line while taking a deep breath.
Of course, I could. It may be an embarrassing topic, but… they're my sisters now.
I hung my head low, frowning as I felt my eyes swelter. "I… don't know. I can't remember anything after Hugo undressed me." I raised my head and broke the brave front I was sporting earlier.
"Oh, sweetheart…" Alice crooned as she embraced me, stroking my back. "What do you mean you can't remember when you're crying like this? You can tell us where it hurts so we can help you."
"That's right, Rinnie. We're all girls here and we know the struggle. Even female werewolves struggle on their first night that we cannot even get out of bed for days." Cora nodded encouragingly.
I wiped my tears when Alice withdrew her arms. "But… I don't really remember. All I remember is spewing a lot of embarrassing stuff to Hugo and then I vomited on him. Then… he was kissing me and taking off my clothes… that's all I can remember. He wasn't even here when I woke up, so I don't know if he is angry about anything or if he disliked it doing it with me."
With these two big sisters coming in here with their sincere hearts, I couldn't help but voice out the worries without pretense. I just prattled on and on with no filter.
"I can't even remember a single thing on our first night!" I exclaimed in disappointment, looking down, as that was also frustrating.
Silence. Both of them didn't speak even after I cried my heart out. I thought they were just giving me time to recover. So when I did, I lifted my head and saw them looking back at me in conflict.
"You don't remember?" asked Cora awkwardly. "The pain should make you remember."
"But I'm not in pain…"
"Ah…" She rocked her head before she chuckled, glancing at Alice. "Haha…! Ha hahaha!"
I frowned as Cora burst out in laughter before shifting my attention to Alice. The latter heaved a sigh of relief before she smiled kindly.
"That's good then," she said with the same smile. "Rinnie, don't worry about it. It seems my little brother had matured even a tiny bit."
"Huh?"
"Rinnie, do you know why you can't remember?" Cora grinned playfully — the kind of grin that looked so evil. She leaned closer and whispered aloud. "That is because it's small. Tell Hugo that, alright? If he berates you about last night, tell him this: 'it's your fault that you can't remember because it's too small.'"
"Cora…" Alice frowned and glared at his sister, but the latter just shrugged. "Rinnie, don't listen to her. Also, don't worry about what you can't remember last night since I believed there's something to remember, anyway."
"How is that…?"
Alice just smiled and squeezed my hand. "It seems my little brother had become more humane, that's all."
I studied Alice's gentle countenance before I nodded. There was just something in her that somehow calmed me down.
"By the way, where is Hugo?" I asked and the two of them looked at each other before the side of Alice's lips stretched. My brows elevated at their change of expression.
"In the training grounds," Cora answered with a giggle. "Letting off the steam he couldn't release last night."
******
"Ugh!!"
"Your Highness… please don't kill me," said the knight while crawling on the ground.
Hugo had sent everyone who sparred with him on the ground — every last one of them. He just came here under the guise of the crown prince's instruction to test the warrior's capabilities and strength. But everyone was quick to realize the seventh prince came here to torture them all.
"Alpha Hugo, why are you being so lenient today?" Kieran, along with the mad wolf pack, asked as Alpha single-handedly defeat the elite warriors. For the royal knights, Hugo was being violent without giving them a chance. But to the members of the Grand Duke's pack, he was… being kind today.
"Because… I discovered a part of me I didn't know existed." Hugo looked at the warriors on the ground as they tried to stand back up. "I didn't know I was capable of self-control. Therefore, I am practicing it since it looks like I will need that power in the following days."
Self-control?! All the warriors who heard this growled through their clenched teeth. This was in no way called self-control if he was walking on them like they were merely bugs.
"Now, now, people. Get up and give me your all. How can you call yourself elite warriors of the empire if you're this pathetic?" Hugo clicked his tongue while tapping the wooden sword against his shoulder and crooking a finger.. "Come on, before I request your demotion."
