Chapter 672 – A New Challenger
WHOOSH!
The group of Chaos Demon Gods accessed the Player’s plane. They remained hidden, but everybody spread their Qi, scouting this place.
They were surprised. At the center of the plane, a massive city had already been built. 500-meter tall walls were armed with array formations and cannons, which emitted the aura of sages.
Looking further, they spot countless giants on the other side of the city. Everybody had the aura signature of Great Dao Sages!
The Chaos Demon Gods were terrified. They hesitated if charging here head-on was a good idea.
They looked at each other and communicated with sound transmissions.
‘Are we fighting or retreating? They have great dao sages!’
‘There’s something wrong here. The players aren’t supposed to be this strong!’
‘I suspect that we’re being influenced by an illusion array. Lord Mu-Nyang said that the players are weaker than regular sages. They can’t possibly have great dao sage backers!’
‘But what are those?! We can’t possibly defeat a great dao sage! How many of them over there?!’
‘I don’t know!’
They panicked and hesitated. None of them dared to take the lead.
While they had been bickering, the Mazinger giants detected the intruders. One of them revealed their physical appearance.
The Mazinger Race barely wore anything and dressed like wild barbarians. Their pants were made from animal hides and tree leaves while their stone axes seemed primitive. However, the axes were myth-grade weapons with sentient spirits.
The Mazinger Race’s captain was a 1-kilometer tall late middle-aged man with disheveled hair and a full beard. He stood behind the front gate, staring down at the hidden Chaos Demon Gods in front of the portal.
The Chaos Demon Gods clicked their tongue as the giant looked down on them. They unsealed their limiters and restored their true appearance as stellar beings.
RUMBLE
Suddenly, a mysterious pressure suppressed them. The Chaos Demon Gods couldn’t restore their height and size. All of them could only remain as 500-meter tall giants.
DING
“!!!”
The Chaos Demon Gods were astonished. Although they didn’t have eyes or mouths, their blank face’s expressions turned dark.
“RETREAT! DO NOT ENGAGE!”
The demon gods stopped hesitating. As they knew that they couldn’t fight a great dao sage, they avoided a direct confrontation.
But the menacing Mazinger barbarian sneered and leaped over the wall, charging toward them. He extended his hand and commanded the natural law.
Before anyone could exit through the portal, the Mazinger clenched his fist.
BOOM
BOOM
All invaders exploded and turned into ash! The two chunks of Entity Ore dropped from their corpses.
No survivor!
The Mazinger barbarian laughed at the weak Chaos Demon Gods. He looked up and opened his arms, bragging his deeds to Pangu.
“Great Ancestor! See that? Chaos Demon Gods are a joke! You don’t even need to act, Great Ancestor. We, your descendants, shall clean up the remnants of Mu-Nyang and wipe the Heavenly Dao Universe as you wish! The entire Primordial Chaos Realm, Chaos Realm, Fate Realm, and every realm in this universe will belong to-“
BOOM
Suddenly, the barbarian’s body and soul were detonated before he could finish his sentences.
BOOM
BOOM
The other barbarian giants also perished and disappeared!
…
“What the?!”
Pan Mei sensed something odd. He turned around and looked at the Mazinger Camp, which was located at the far east of the plane.
The presence of all super gods was gone.
Panicking, Pan Mei leaped to the sky and spread his Qi sense, scanning the entire plane. Then, he discovered that all of them were dead.
“HOW?!”
Pan Mei was in shock. Both hands rested behind the back of his head, being confused.
A few seconds later, Pan Mei snapped back to his senses. He remembered that his father might have done something to the beta test server.
He returned to the city and logged out of the game. His body vanished.
…
After Pan Mei had logged out of the game, the crowd of players, who had gathered near the Sacrificial Altar, stared at each other in dismay. However, among the crowd, a ragged-looking player ignored the commotion. He left the city in secret.
The beggar-looking player reached the former camp of the barbarian guardians. Although Pangu said that all buildings must be in the domain of a Pylon Tower, this man-made campsite still existed even though no pylon tower was nearby.
The massive tent, trees, river, and rocks here were created by their power!
The player knelt and scooped some water to drink.
DING
“…”
The player paused and stared at the screen in astonishment. Then, he grinned.
The beggar took off his clothes and jumped into the river. He drank as much water as he could.
DING
The system notification messages continued to spam his system panel, but the player didn’t care. He purposely sank into the bottom of the river and meditated.
No one could see his status menu, but he had done something unique to his character.

…
Hiiro calmly cultivated while he avoided all commotion in this world. However, deep down in his heart, he scoffed at the game and the system of this world.
‘It’s a pity that the progress won’t be carried over to the real game. But hey, since they will let us have the NFT from the beta test, I might as well use this upgraded NFT to the max and use it in the real game. I should thank those guys for throwing me in that hell hole!’
Hiiro laughed. He had upgraded his character, which he had obtained from a gacha machine.
At first, he came out as a trashy common character, which was useless in combat.
The common grade was the lowest rarity grade among all gacha characters. There were many tiers higher than common, such as uncommon, rare, super rare, ultra-rare, and legendary.
However, in the beta test, everybody’s level started at 500, including a common NFT character user like him.
A glitch had occurred when everybody started out as no common character could raise their level further than 50. However, the game company changed them to 10,000 to fit the beta test. Yet, nobody cared.
While everybody was paying attention to Pan Mei, who was running the beta test, Hiiro’s friends, who were bullies in real life, threw Hiiro into a green gas pit for fun.
After Hiiro had fallen into the hole of green gas, the bullies asked Pan Mei to build a refinery on top of the place, and Pan Mei did so as they had requested.
As a result, Hiiro was trapped under the refinery building.
Another glitch occurred. Inside the pit, the time flowed irregularly. A second in the real world was like a year in the green gas pit!
Moreover, inside the pit, strange memory of unknown worlds and spirits entered his mind, causing him to fall into dream and lived as someone else. He lost count of how many cultivators or creatures’ lives he had experienced.
Hiiro used the time to cultivate and raised his level to the present. He managed to get out of the hole and got into a scuffle with trolls and Player Killers, and he ended up killing them, stealing their attributes and spiritual roots.
Hiiro was tired. He didn’t want to talk to anybody yet. He wanted to be alone and contemplated his experience. Also, he missed his life on earth.
Hiiro looked at the game’s options menu. He hovered his hand at the [Log Out] button.
DING
“…”
Hiiro gritted his teeth. He thought of contacting Pan Mei.
Unfortunately, Pan Mei had already logged out. He couldn’t contact the only administrator that he knew.
“Shit! What now?!”
Hiiro didn’t want to become one of the cliché protagonists, who got stuck in a VRMMO game. He had a life and a girlfriend back home although their relationship was not good.
‘Shirley will break up with me at this rate. I need to go home! What should I do?!’
He took a deep breath.
‘I might as well commit suicide and let the game log me out. But if I die and I can’t log out, will I die for real?!’
Hiiro had a dilemma. He didn’t dare to commit suicide.
As Hiiro had no way out, he thought of the purpose of the beta test and the goal of this game.
‘I should just kill everything and end the beta test as soon as possible. I don’t want to get stuck in here forever!’
Hiiro made his decision, and he felt better.
But while Hiiro was lost in thought, he received a mysterious system notification.
DING
“Huh?”
Hiiro widened his eyes.
Hiiro was delighted. He thought that an administrator or a game moderator had contacted him through the system message.
“Y-YES! Tell me how?!”
“Huh? A quest?”
DING
