Part Wolf

Chapter 427 - 427: Act Nice

Chapter 427 – 427: Act Nice

The goddess bit her lip, trying hard to hold in her laughter. The man didn't know what he was talking about. But that was not his fault. He was only an earthling. She wondered how he would feel if he knew the truth. That she had come in search of the very thing that he seemed to be anxious about for some reason.

Luna was elated. The moment had finally arrived. The shard was just a few feet away from her. The portal had not done a mistake. She had arrived at the Island just in time for welcoming the precious one. She thought, her insides bubbling with joy.

A quick movement to her right caught her attention. She watched a familiar figure rush towards the two of them in haste. The man was midway through his shift and he looked like he had left whatever he was doing in a hurry. The carelessly wrapped cloth around his waist confirmed her guesses.

Luna looked away from Kirk, glancing at the man who was still pressing her down protectively. The man was too quick in calling for backup, she thought, the corners of her lips pulling down to form a frown. Her heart yearned to see the one hidden in the darkness at least once. She was close, yet too far away from the shard.

"Alpha, you called?" Kirk asked, stopping a foot away from the two of them in respect.

William's expression immediately changed at seeing his subordinate. "Fool!" He hissed through his clenched teeth. "Don't you hear them?"

Kirk cocked his head to the side cluelessly, before following his alpha's gaze towards the trees. Luna watched as his long wolf's ears twitch in the air, trying to pick up what his superior had already sensed ages ago. His body suddenly went still, just as his alpha's did a few minutes ago. He growled, baring his fangs in the direction of the supposed threat.

The very next moment, the Destiny Stone went cold once again. The goddess glared at Kirk's tensed back in irritation. Great. Now how was she supposed to find the shard again? She thought, gritting her teeth in annoyance.

William huffed, stepping in front of her slowly, his eyes trained on the man. His fingers were still wrapped around her wrist, holding onto her in a surprisingly gentle manner.

"Glad you noticed." He said, narrowing his eyes at his subordinate. "Gather everyone and search, you idiot!" He hissed, his anger apparent in his tone.

Kirk gulped, bowing at his alpha's command hastily. That was when he noticed her hiding behind the man. His brows scrunched in distaste as he pointed a finger at the goddess. "But what about her?" He asked, stepping towards her mindlessly. "She saw-"

Luna's eyes widened in shock. Had the others seen her too? How many more? Was that why the alpha had come looking for her? Will they punish her for trespassing? She wondered, panic rising in her heart. But before he could reach her, William raised a hand, stopping the man mid-way. Kirk looked at his alpha with raised brows.

"I'll take her," William said, waving at his subordinate dismissively.

Kirk shook his head. "But-"

The alpha growled, baring his fangs at the man. "Go!" He commanded, his voice rising in anger.

The man immediately obeyed, the weight of William's command weighing heavily down on his being, forcing him to shift completely. In the blink of an eye, a huge brown wolf stood in Kirk's place. With a hasty glance in their direction, the wolf kicked off towards the forest, his neck arching back as he howled into the air.

One after the other, a few dozen howls sounded from the direction of the temple, answering the wolf's call with their own. Luna couldn't hide her disappointment anymore. Her frown deepened as she turned to the alpha.

"Do you trust me?" William asked, offering a nervous smile to her.

"No." She retorted, crossing her arms over her chest in irritation.

The alpha chuckled, shaking his head. "Sucks." He said, stepping closer. "You'll have to bear with it then."

As his hands shot out towards her, she dodged, sidestepping him. She was about to launch into the forest when she felt a sharp force push against the back of her knees. The goddess tumbled backward, landing right into the man's arms.

"Hey!" Luna exclaimed as he quickly threw her over his shoulder.

William growled, his voice dropping dangerously as his sparkling yellow eyes met hers. "One more word, and I'll knock you out." He threatened, narrowing his eyes at her.

Anger coursed inside her, threatening to release her powers from their seal. She was about to break when the Tohar Sehlah's voice boomed in her head.

'Master, we still have time. But you don't have the energy!' The stone reminded her, its voice shrill with urgency. 'Act nice!'

Luna gritted her teeth, cursing under her breath. She glared at the alpha, relaxing herself on his shoulder. "Fine." She muttered through clenched teeth.

William flashed a grin at her, the corners of his eyes creasing as he did. She refused to hold on to him as he took off towards the opposite direction. As they flew past the trees, she made sure to note memorize the way. The place that she had somehow managed to end up at, seemed to be the key towards exiting the Island.

That must have been where the intruders must have come from, she thought, as her mind sifted through the various possibilities. She wondered what the soul shard of her beloved Sargon looked like in this timeline. Would it look like a certain kelpie or an alpha whose whereabouts were still unknown?

She was still deep in her thoughts when the man stopped in front of his hut. With a relieved sigh, the goddess relaxed, squiggling in his arms. But he remained unfazed. Luna frowned. Somehow she was finding herself in the most awkward situations with him even without intending to, and the man seemed to be enjoying it all, unlike her.

"You can put me down now." She said, wriggling uncomfortably.
