Chapter 428 - 428: I Find It Amusing

Chapter 428 – 428: I Find It Amusing

She heard the door open. The alpha walked in with her still over his shoulder, not bothering to close the house behind him.

"Put me down, will you?!" Luna said, raising her voice in irritation.

"What if I don't want to?" William asked, his voice laced with mischief.

"I'll scream." She threatened, pushing at his bare back with her palms. "I'm sure that whoever it was, didn't come for you."

In the next moment, the alpha pulled at her, throwing her off balance and right into his arms. Luna gasped in surprise. William smirked, watching her moment of shock with much satisfaction.

"Are you admitting that you're a spy?" He asked, lowering his face towards her teasingly.

The goddess quickly put a hand up, covering her mouth in a reflex. William raised a brow at her action. She narrowed her eyes, refusing to move her hand away. Suddenly, the alpha threw his head back, his roaring laughter bouncing off the mud walls of the moon-lit room, surprising her. What was so funny about what she did? She wondered.

"I'm just asking you to let me down," Luna said, her brows scrunched in confusion.

William nodded, his laughter dying down to an amused look. "Sure." He said, pushing her out of his hand lazily.

The goddess gasped as her back hit the mattress. The next moment, the alpha was beside her, reaching his hand out to her hungrily. Luna moved in lightning speed, sliding towards the other edge of the bed, pasting her back against the wall.

The alpha beamed, waving at her encouragingly. "What if we make use of this time?" He asked, propping his head upon his elbow.

Luna smirked. "Sure, but you should stay at least three feet away from me." She said, crossing her arms over her chest.

The man opened his mouth to say something when suddenly, there was a knock on the door. William closed his mouth, turning towards the beaded entryway with a sigh.

"What, Kirk?" He shouted, the irritation in his voice apparent.

Kirk's head popped through the beaded curtain, his eyes nervous as they landed on the alpha.

"They're gone." He said, his voice shaking in fear.

Luna turned to the man in shock. Already? They were gone? Was this her only chance? Had she spoiled it by thinking too much about her own safety? She wondered, panic rising in her. She felt the stones push their way inside her head. But they too remained silent.

Anger flashed in the alpha's eyes as he quickly sat up. "What do you mean they're gone?!" He exclaimed, his voice booming through the room.

Kirk shivered at the power in the man's voice. Luna raised her brows as she watched the man's back muscles flex. The darkness had once again appeared around him. Now that she took a good look at it, she could see that it was only growing in size.

It appeared as if his fate was not yet fixed, she thought, narrowing her eyes at the spot. It was her first time to see something this intriguing. In all her time as the moon goddess, she had never come across such a devious fate. The goddess reached out to the man unconsciously in an effort to touch the intriguing darkness.

But before she could reach it, the strange occurrence vanished into thin air. Her hand landed on the alpha's shoulder, resting on it for the fraction of a second before the man stiffened. Luna withdrew from the man in haste, shocked at her own actions.

She scolded herself for acting like a kid. His fate is not yours to decide, she repeated inside her head, refusing to meet William's eyes as he turned towards her with raised brows. The anger on his face disappeared, and his body slowly relaxed as his gaze followed her nervous movements.

Kirk cleared his throat, calling for the man's attention. William sighed, turning towards his subordinate with a frown.

"Fine." He said, waving at the man dismissively. "You can leave."

The man looked at his alpha and his slave with a confused look. But didn't try his luck by staying back any longer than he was asked to. With a quick bow towards William, Kirk disappeared from the room, banging the door to the house shut as he left.

"So where were we?" The alpha asked, turning back to her with a smirk.

Luna huffed, watching his three-sixty-degree turn of mood. She put her hands over her chest defensively as he slid closer to her.

"I want to know something." The goddess said, putting a hand up to stop the man.

William beamed, stopping in his tracks. He plopped down on the middle of the mattress, resting his chin on his hand thoughtfully. "I want to as well." He said, his eyes scanning the length of her body.

Luna smiled, glad that he voluntarily bit the bait. "Then an answer for an answer?" She asked, raising her brows at him in question.

"It's a deal." He replied, nodding in agreement.

The goddess relaxed, drawing her knees to her chest as she sat back comfortably. It was time to squeeze all the information out of the man, she thought, laughing like a madwoman in her head.

"Who were the intruders?" She asked, keeping a blank face.

"A rogue and his group of street dogs," William replied with a shrug.

A rogue? Does that mean that the shard ended up in a wolf in this timeline? She wondered, her brows creasing in thought. Luna raised her eyes, turning to the man once again in curiosity. "Does he have a name? How old is he?" She asked, eager to know more.

The alpha smirked. "Your one question is up. Now it's my turn." He said, taking a deep breath. He paused for a while before letting out the air. His fangs protruded as he gazed at her hungrily. "Why do you smell so good?" He asked, licking the tips of his sharp canines.

Luna frowned. "You're just going to waste your question like that?" She asked, shaking her head at him in disapproval. "To flirt with me?"

William shrugged. "I find it amusing." He said with a wink.

The goddess kept quiet, her frown deepening as the man slid out of the bed, bending towards the open trunk on his side to pick up a shirt. It seemed like he wasn't willing to cooperate anymore. Was that it? Was that all that he was willing to give her? She thought as she watched him slip into his clothes.

"Where are you going?" She asked, raising her brows.

"To find me some women." He paused, his smile growing as he turned towards her. "Of course, I don't have to, if you're willing to cooperate."

"Nope. Help yourself out." She said, waving him out encouragingly. "Thanks for the bed again."

William frowned at her actions but didn't say a single word. In the next moment, he disappeared, leaving her all to herself in the moon-lit room. Luna stretched her limbs happily before settling into the mattress comfortably.

"A step closer to you, my little shard." She whispered to herself as she let her fatigue get the better of her.
