Chapter 431 – 431: Do I Look Like I Need Permission?
Luna gulped, closing her eyes, cursing her luck under her breath. The sweat on his hand oozed into her dress, drenching a huge patch of her shoulder. Her hand tightened around the pulsing stone that rested safely against her chest. She was scared that he would notice. After all, his senses were better than hers at the moment.
But in the next moment, the stone went flickered, getting warm and cold simultaneously under her grip. The goddess opened her eyes in panic. But she couldn't spot his beautiful green eyes anywhere. He was gone, even before she could get a good look at his face, she thought, as her heart shrank in disappointment.
But the stone was still flickering. It should mean that he was somewhere around. At least he was in no immediate danger from the presence of the man who chose to intrude at the wrong time. Forcing a smile on her face, she turned around, shrugging away from the wolf's touch.
"Oh, it's you." She said, forcing a smile onto her face.
Kirk scrunched his brows, looking at her strangely, glancing at the surroundings in suspicion. His eyes rested on the spot between the trees where she had seen the shard only a few moments ago. The wolf's eyes glistened with something dangerous as he stepped towards the spot. His nostrils widened as he took a deep breath, trying to sniff out the enemy's presence like a bloodthirsty hound.
The way that his face contorted into an annoyed expression told her that she wouldn't even get a chance to escape if the man were to spot the shard. She'd probably end up exhausting her energy wiping out the whole pack after that. It would ruin all her plans. So her best bet was to distract him, Luna thought, biting into her lip.
As the first drop of blood surfaced on her skin, Kirk stilled, a shiver running through his body in reaction. In the next instant, he flashed to her, wrapping his hand around her waist as he slammed her onto his chest with much force. The wolf in him was wide awake, and so was the organ that was now straining against her abdomen.
She could see the conflict in his eyes as he tried to fight his instincts. The goddess smiled inside, putting on an innocently startled expression on her face. The man had fallen straight into her web without even realizing what he was doing. His eyes were glued to the spot on her lower lip where the droplet of blood was still glistening while the wound slowly closed up.
He leaned forward, pulled by the irresistible scent of the goddess' blood, his rank breath pushing against her face. Luna scrunched her nose in disgust, pushing him away in haste, with all her strength. Kirk growled in annoyance, baring his fangs against her as she quickly licked away the bead of blood from her lips.
The moment it vanished, so did the magnetic pull. The man's eyes widened as he looked down at his hands in alarm. The goddess quickly looked around in haste as the man was caught in his own thoughts. A relieved sigh escaped her chest when she realized that she couldn't feel the shard anymore.
The destiny stone was ice-cold now, returning to its usual state. He was gone, for the better or for worse. Whatever it was, it could be dealt with later, she thought, letting go of the locket hanging around her neck by a thin gold chain. Kirk frowned, looking back and forth between his hands and her, ignorant of the trick that she had just pulled.
Though the animal in him was subdued, there was still a remnant of lust lingering in his gaze. The bulge at his groin confirmed it. He pointed his index finger at her, shaking it as his eyes narrowed at her in suspicion.
"There's something off about you." He said, looking her up and down. His frown deepened as his gaze finally rested on her face. "You didn't answer me yet, woman."
"Hmm?" Luna asked, raising her brows in confusion.
Seeing him bare his fangs at her, she was quickly reminded of the question the man had asked when he chanced upon her. The goddess shrugged, looking away from the wolf.
"Oh, I was just walking around." She said dismissively.
Now that the shard was safe, she didn't give two hoots about keeping his attention. She didn't want to spend another minute with him. The man's arrival ruined everything. Neither did she get to the bottom of the source of dark magic on the Island nor did she get to take a good look at the shard.
His bearded face irritated her more than she cared to admit. Though Kirk stood a good six inches taller than her, he didn't intimidate her a bit. He was nothing compared to her. Just a small fly buzzing around her, waiting for the opportunity to pounce on her. The very thought of his hands on her irked the goddess.
Kirk narrowed his eyes at her, taking a step forward as he asked, "And who gave you the permission to?"
Luna stepped away from the man with a frown. "Do I look like I need permission?" She asked, raising her brows at him.
His arrogance was annoying. Who did he think he was? She thought, looking at the man in disgust. A flash of anger glimmered in his eyes as he hissed, baring his fangs at her in a threat. But the goddess stood her ground, her hands crossed over her chest fearlessly as she glared right back at him.
In the blink of an eye, he was in front of her, leaning towards her with a huge smirk on his mouth. Luna raised a brow, cocking her head to the side as she watched the man take a deep breath, his eyes closed as he shivered in pleasure. Had she given him too much of a temptation by breaking her skin? She wondered.
Kirk licked his lips, his fangs protruding as he opened his eyes again. "I heard that William hadn't stayed in his house once after you came." He taunted, his voice thick with the lust that she could see fastly growing in his eyes.
