Chapter 445 - 445: That Was Unnecessary

Chapter 445 – 445: That Was Unnecessary

Pain. That was all that she could feel other than the helplessness that gripped her throat tightly. His eyes reflected nothing but oceans of love, pulling her into it every second that she kept staring into those beautiful green orbs.

She watched the light escape his body as bright golden blood oozed from the wound that was created by the sword that the demon king had pushed into his heart only seconds ago. The heat from the release pushed at her chest, making her tremble with the weight of what was happening before her.

Luna knew that it was just a dream. It was only a memory that somehow found its way into her head. Out of all the chosen ones, it had to be Elize's memories, she thought, her heart clenching with pain.

"No!" She found herself screaming, tears streaming down her cheeks as she gripped his shoulders tightly, her eyebrows raised in alarm. Lloyd coughed, smiling mischievously at her like he always did. Screaming at the top of her lungs, she pushed at the tip of the sword that poked out of his chest. But just like it did nothing on that day, the weapon didn't budge.

She screamed in frustration as the kelpie shook his head weakly, pleading her to stop. Her throat was burning and something heavy weighed down her chest, suffocating her as she struggled to stay sane. Lloyd's smile widened as he raised his shaking hands to her shoulders, pulling her closer.

As a desperate sob escaped her chest, the kelpie slid his hand up her neck, cradling her cheek as he leaned in. "Do you trust me?" He asked, his voice breaking under the strain.

As her heart was shattering into pieces she could feel her headache resurfacing. Without a warning, she was ripped off from the warmth of the prince's arms. Darkness surrounded her as she screamed in rage at the injustice.

'No!' A voice that was much like her own screamed in her head. 'Let me hold him a little while longer!' Elize's voice was filled with agony as the memory escaped out of her reach.

The goddess trembled with emotions. She wanted to scream, but she had no voice. Soon, a thousand screams echoed along with Elize's, pulling her into a splitting pain that carved into the depths of her being, emerging from her head. Her body shook violently as she struggled to keep up with the pulsing magic that was coursing through her veins.

"Stop!" She screamed with every inch of her power.

Suddenly it all stopped. Luna opened her eyes to a familiar mud ceiling. She found herself panting heavily and drenched in sweat. The blanket which she had covered herself with, was gone. Her eyes widened in alarm as she realized that she was barely covered in anything.

The dress that she clearly remembered wearing to sleep was now gone, with only a thin petticoat to cover her private parts. She clenched her teeth as she turned to the other side of the bed. But strangely, the spot was empty. The man who must have done this to her was nowhere to be seen.

"Stones?" She asked, grabbing the side of her head in irritation. "Are you there?"

But just like before, she was greeted by silence. Apart from the dull noise of her own fast-beating heart, she couldn't hear anything else. Great, she thought, rolling her eyes. Nothing seemed to be going her way anymore. She gripped the edge of the wooden bed in irritation.

She didn't even know how many days she had lost because of it. And now, the only two voices in her head that were of any help had gone incredibly silent. Luna was about to push herself up from the bed when she heard the familiar footsteps. Panic struck her as she looked around for the dress that she had been wearing before she went to sleep.

Seeing a folded bundle of blue at the edge of the mattress, she sighed in relief. Without wasting another second, she grabbed the dress and slid it over her head, thrusting her hands into the sleeves hastily, just in time for the alpha to walk in.

William stopped a few feet away from the bed with a concerned look in his eyes. "Are you-"

"You!" The goddess shouted, pointing a shaky finger at the man. "What did you do to me?!"

The alpha opened his mouth to say something but closed it, confusion flashing across his face. He seemed innocent of what she was implicating him of. Luna frowned, narrowing her eyes at the man. William's mouth mimicked her expression as he stepped towards her.

"I was making sure that you didn't die of fever." He said, thrusting his hands towards her.

The goddess raised her brows, shifting her attention towards them. His fingers clutched a damp, folded white cloth lightly that looked like it was wrung way too many times over the last few hours. Her brows scrunched in confusion as she turned back to the alpha. Her frown deepened at his smirk.

Had she come down with a fever overnight? She wondered, looking around at the sweaty bedsheet. Had the alpha stayed up all night, nursing her back to health? Her lips narrowed into a thin line. She hated the fact that her presence was influencing his life even without her meaning for it to happen.

The goddess shook her head. No matter how she saw it, this was wrong. If her magic had leaked while she was unconscious, he could have died. On the other hand, he had crossed his line tonight. Not only had he touched her, but he had undressed her while she was unconscious. By the rules of the spiritual realm, she had every right to strike his soul down.

But she held back. She felt indebted to him now, although his care was unnecessary. It's not like she was going to die with such a small thing like fever. Her body was celestial. She wasn't vulnerable anymore to earthly voes. She was an immortal being. It was her soul that was trying its best to heal.

Luna didn't know whether to thank him or feel offended at his actions. Finally, she decided to let it go, sliding out of the bed towards the alpha with a determined heart. She had to somehow leave his life without causing too much fluctuation in it. Taking a deep breath, she stopped a hand's span away from him.

"That was unnecessary." The goddess said, looking straight into his clear brown eyes. "I don't need such care. Especially not from you."

William's expression changed, his lips drawing into a thin line, reflecting his displeasure. "I was only trying to save you." He said through clenched teeth.

Luna huffed. "Who do you think you are to save me?" She asked, raising her brows at him. She knew that it was essential that she got the point across to the pitiful man in front of her. She folded her hands over her chest, looking him right in his eyes as she asked, "Do you even know who I am?"

The alpha laughed at her words, his deep voice echoing through the otherwise silent room.
